C4 Fear Spread!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
At the entrance to Coach No. 12, Lee Feng, Rong Guo, and a few others were braced against the glass door, steadfastly refusing entry despite the desperate cries and screams from those trapped inside.
Lee Feng was resolved to play the villain if it meant halting the spread of the virus. He had warned them earlier, but his words were ignored, some even responding with mockery. Now, he felt no guilt for his actions.
Soon, the pleas for help behind the door gave way to chilling, beast-like roars.
Zombies with grotesque faces violently battered the glass, their eyes burning with a savage hunger.
"Quick, block the door with newspapers!"
Realizing that the zombies' frenzy was driven by sight, Lee Feng urgently directed the others.
"Oh, oh!"
Yu Dulin, momentarily dazed, snapped to action. She grabbed newspapers from the nearby shelf, doused them with mineral water, and tremblingly plastered them over the door.
As the paper sealed their view, the zombies, no longer able to see their prey, settled into an eerie calm.
"Phew!"
The students, unaccustomed to such horror, let out a collective sigh of relief and slumped to the floor by the door. Had it not been for Lee Feng's quick thinking, they might have remained frozen in place, like deer in headlights.
"Scared?"
Once the chaos subsided, Lee Feng turned to the beautiful flight attendant clinging to his arm, her body shaking.
Gone was her earlier poise and grace; her scarf askew, her face deathly pale, as if still in shock.
"No..."
Yu Dulin's voice was a raspy whisper, as if her throat was parched from lack of water.
"It's okay to cry if you need to."
Lee Feng's gaze softened as he offered words of comfort to the attendant.
She was a fresh face in the workforce, never having witnessed such a nightmarish scene. The thought of watching people turn into zombies before her eyes was something even the most seasoned individual might struggle to process.
To Lee Feng's astonishment, Yu Dulin only fell silent briefly before she regained her composure. Her previously vacant gaze sharpened as she eyed the elongated backpack he had clutched during his escape.
"What's inside that?" she inquired, unable to contain her curiosity.
"Don't ask—it's something to keep me alive," Lee Feng replied evasively, not keen on revealing the knife concealed within. Explaining its presence would only lead to complications.
Sensing the tension, Yu Dulin shifted the conversation.
"I'm Yu Dulin. Thank you for saving me earlier," she said with gratitude.
"Lee Feng," he responded, introducing himself to the attractive flight attendant.
Suddenly, the train conductor's announcement echoed through the carriage.
"Attention, passengers. Due to an emergency, this train will not be stopping at Tiananfang Station. For your safety, please remain seated."
The announcement sent a wave of unrest through the carriage, prompting a flurry of anxious questions from the passengers.
"Why is this happening?"
"What's going on? Why are there man-eating monsters?!"
"What are those creatures, exactly?!"
The fear and confusion that had briefly subsided were now reignited by the conductor's message.
Yu Dulin, acting on her duty as a flight attendant, rose to the occasion. She clenched her fists, trying to project calmness as she addressed the worried crowd.
"Please, everyone, stay calm and remain seated. Don't panic. We will reach our destination safely—trust in the conductor," she assured them.
Her words, firm and convincing, helped to settle the passengers once more.
Lee Feng, however, noticed Yu Dulin's hands were ghostly white from her own tight grip, betraying her outward confidence.
"Don't worry, it's going to be okay," he reassured her, gently patting her hands.
Yu Dulin's tense fist relaxed at his touch, and she offered him a strained smile in return.
Just as the passengers began to unwind, the train lurched violently, decelerating as if it had collided with something.
"Ah!"
"Damn it!"
Curses filled the carriage as passengers scrambled to steady themselves, gripping the seats to prevent a tumble.
The sudden jolt sent Yu Dulin tumbling into Lee Feng's embrace, her cheeks flushing with a hint of embarrassment.
Once her pace steadied, she wriggled free from Lee Feng's embrace, offering an apologetic smile.
"It's okay."
Lee Feng nodded, indicating it was no big deal.
Yet, their exchange went unnoticed as the crowd was preoccupied with the Tiananfang Station drawing near, murmuring amongst themselves.
"What's happening?"
"Has there been another incident?"
"Yeah, why won't it stop?"
While the onlookers speculated wildly, peering into the vacant carriage, a disheveled man in grey suddenly appeared at the window, pounding on the glass and crying out for help:
"HELP! HELP!"
Behind him, a throng of passengers surged forward desperately, too terrified to glance back as if fleeing from some unseen beast.
"Ahhh!"
Out of nowhere, an infected figure with ragged clothes, lifeless grey eyes, and a body marred by gruesome lesions appeared. He lunged, sinking his bloodied, gaping maw into the man's neck, bringing him to the ground.
"Argh!"
"Ahhhh!"
The carriage erupted in screams as the terrifying scene unfolded.
Passengers near the window scrambled away, as if a colossal beast lurked just beyond the glass.
In a heartbeat, the infected, like rabid dogs, overtook the fleeing passengers, mauling them in a frenzy.
Outside, the world turned into a living hell in moments.
Inside, the passengers, witnessing this nightmare unfold, turned ashen. Some of the more faint-hearted women even broke into tears.
A wave of fear swept through the carriage, sending shivers down their spines.
"Don't worry, I'll protect you."
Lee Feng whispered reassurances to the beautiful, pale-faced flight attendant beside him, her body quivering slightly.
"System, can I bring her back to the real world?"
Lee Feng's voice was low, his plea directed inward to the system in his mind. The thought of leaving such a lovely woman in this frightful place, constantly at risk of becoming a zombie, was unbearable.
Wouldn't it be better to take her home, to provide warmth, do laundry, and cook?
But the system coldly dismissed his wishes.
