C4 He Would Change His Expression!
In the video, a naked man and woman were on the ground, the woman kneeling like a dog while the man subjected her to various forms of abuse. Suddenly, the roles reversed: the man knelt down, and the woman began to mimic the man's earlier abusive actions.
Lee Feng's face flushed with anger, then drained to a ghastly pale. His facial muscles twitched uncontrollably as he seethed, "You bastard, how dare you create such a filthy video to shame me? This isn't over."
The shrill voice in the video belonged to Zhang Xuan, the lobby manager of Lin Han's hotel, while the close-up of the man's face revealed none other than Lee Feng, the newly appointed general manager of Watock and the Lee family's only grandson.
"For the past four years, Kexin has had over a hundred videos like this, but she never once showed them to you. She didn't want to upset you or strain her relationship with Lee Feng," Lin Han explained as he casually played another video, nearly identical to the first but featuring a different woman. "Grandma, do you know the best way to make people forget something? Introduce something even more captivating."
"What are you trying to do?" Grandma demanded, her voice turning fierce.
"Grandma, do you see? When Kexin and the others were in trouble, I did everything to support them. Yet, in their quest for power, they stooped to fabricating such videos. They've never seen me as a brother, nor have they prioritized the Lee family's honor or Watock's interests..." Lee Feng argued passionately, embellishing his narrative.
"I think if these scandalous videos were leaked, they'd certainly pique the public's interest. Then, who would care about whether a worthless son-in-law like me had a secret rendezvous with a female employee? Right?" he mused.
"You despicable creature, you dare threaten me?" Grandma's fury was palpable as she shattered her teacup.
"Not at all. I'm just a poor guy who married into the family; I wouldn't dare threaten you. But I know Kexin has been good to me. I'm a simple man: I repay kindness with kindness. Since she's chosen not to reveal these things, I'll take it upon myself to do so."
"You dare!"
The wrinkles on her face deepened, betraying her age, as her seemingly clouded eyes fixed on Lin Han, scrutinizing him. Then, her intense gaze softened as she turned to Lin Kexin. "Kexin, have you had these videos all along? Why haven't you shown them before?"
"Grandma, I..." Lin Kexin snapped out of her confusion, at a loss for words. She didn't possess any videos—this was her first time seeing them, too.
"Grandma, Grandma, you have to believe me. I'm your own grandson. You know me better than anyone, right? I've always been obedient, ever since I was little. I wouldn't dare do anything wrong."
Lee Feng knelt before his grandmother, clutching her hand as he wept. "With today's technology, anything can be fabricated—recordings, videos, bank statements. They're trying to set me up..."
"Enough!"
Smack!
Grandma's slap, though not forceful, was filled with disappointment. "Stand up. The men of the Lee family must always stand tall and speak with integrity."
Lee Feng rose cautiously, positioning himself behind his grandmother. He glared venomously at Lin Han and Lin Kexin, his teeth clenched. If not in his grandmother's presence, he would have severely dealt with these two fools.
"Kexin, you've been considerate of my health, sparing me from these sordid affairs all these years."
Her demeanor softened into one of affectionate concern. After a brief silence, her eyes shifted back and forth between Lee Feng and Lin Kexin. "Are you both familiar with Qexoom?"
"Yes."
"Yes."
Lin Kexin and Lee Feng responded simultaneously.
It was common knowledge among business circles that Qexoom Group had its hand in lucrative sectors like real estate, e-commerce, and logistics.
"Qexoom Group is planning a new round of investments in Orifrough City. Are you aware of this?" she probed further.
"I heard from a friend that they're looking to develop the tourism industry along the coast," Lee Feng said, shooting a smug look at Lin Kexin. Noticing her dismay, he realized she hadn't been privy to the news.
"Kexin, Xiaofeng! I've turned a blind eye to all this chaos and I don't want to see it again. Regarding the general manager position, I'm willing to let you compete fairly for it. What do you say?"
Grandma's words seemed calm, yet they carried a duplicitous sting. She not only revoked Lee Feng's newly acquired position as general manager but also proposed a so-called 'fair competition' to negotiate terms with Lin Kexin. Her true intention was to sabotage Lee Feng's video.
"Grandma, please don't do this. You've just appointed me, and now you're dismissing me. I'll be the laughingstock of the entire company," Lee Feng pleaded desperately, only to be met with his grandmother's icy stare. "Be quiet."
Lin Kexin's spirits were equally low. What was rightfully hers had been deceitfully taken by Lee Feng, and even though she now had evidence of his schemes and his incompetence, her grandmother still seemed bent on shielding him. The 'fair competition' she spoke of was tainted with unfairness from the outset.
"The Qexoom Group's investment in the tourism industry is projected to exceed three billion. Whichever one of you secures the outsourcing contract for the real estate project will earn the general manager's seat," Grandma announced.
Lin Kexin and Lee Feng were both taken aback. The Lee family wielded influence in Orifrough, but there were numerous groups with equal or greater power.
To think of leveraging the Lee family's current standing to broker a deal with Qexoom?
That...
Seemed like an insurmountable task.
"Kexin, agree to it," Lin Han urged, whispering into Lin Kexin's ear so that only she could hear.
"I agree," Lin Kexin blurted out, almost possessed. Instant regret followed, and she shot Lin Han a reproachful look.
For years, she had managed a group and had not shied away from the idea of engaging with a major corporation like Qexoom. Yet, every attempt at outreach had been rebuffed over the phone, without even a chance for a meeting, let alone a partnership.
"I... I also agree," Lee Feng stammered, his thoughts a jumbled mess. With Lin Kexin having consented, he felt compelled to follow suit. He had only just begun to savor the perks of his position and was not ready to relinquish them without a fight.
Lee Feng was no fool. The evidence that he had framed Lin Feng was glaringly apparent, and Lin Kexin had even presented videos of him enjoying abuse and inflicting it. Despite this, Grandma hadn't removed him from his role as General Manager.
This meant that from the start, Grandma had been protecting him. With her backing, and still holding the General Manager position, he had an easier time accessing Qexoom Group than Lin Kexin, the unrecognized granddaughter of the Lee family.
"Alright, Kexin, take your sordid belongings and leave," Grandma said, picking up Lin Kexin and Lin Han's phones and tossing them to the floor. "Remember, what belongs to the Lee family stays with the Lee family. Outsiders can only stand by and watch."
"I understand, Grandma," Lin Kexin replied, thoroughly disheartened. She grasped the underlying message in Grandma's words.
Grandma's reproach stemmed from the mistaken belief that Lin Kexin had shared the incriminating videos about Lee Feng with Lin Han, an outsider. She was also warning her to keep the matter within the family.
This was an outright display of favoritism and protection for Lee Feng.
No sooner had Lin Han and Lin Kexin stepped out than Lee Feng fell to his knees, begging for forgiveness. "Grandma, I admit my mistake. I'll be more cautious from now on. In fact, I won't ever make such foolish mistakes again."
"Trying to prop up a lost cause," Grandma muttered. She retrieved a document from beneath the table and handed it to Lee Feng. "This is the proposal for Qexoom Group's tourism development project in Orifrough. Study it carefully and bring the outsourcing costs down as much as possible."
"But... how will we make money?" Lee Feng asked, bewildered.
"You're worried about profits when you haven't even secured your position? Cough, cough!" Grandma's irritation manifested in a fit of coughing. "Get out! And don't you dare use the Lee family name to deceive others. If I hear of it, I'll break your legs."
"Yes, yes, I understand. Please, Grandma, don't be upset with me—it's not worth your health! You need to look after yourself. Our generation has been nothing but a disappointment; it's you who must oversee everything!"
Lee Feng's flattery rang out loud and clear, much to Grandma's delight. Her face beamed with affection. "By the way, that little rascal from your third uncle's family, Li Tianqing, is she about to come back to the country?"
"I heard from Third Uncle that she's been missing you and is planning to return soon."
"Excellent! It'll be nice for you three siblings to get together. Having two more family members around is always more reliable than strangers."
"Understood, Grandma."
Inwardly, Lee Feng cursed Lin Kexin hundreds of times. Relying on her for help seemed ludicrous unless she had lost her senses.
Outside the old family home.
In the car, Lin Kexin was indeed staring at Lin Han like a complete fool, her gaze fixed on him.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Have you fallen for me?" Lin Han asked with a cocky grin, arms folded across his chest.
"Where did you get those videos of Lee Feng?" Lin Kexin inquired, her confusion apparent.
"From Zhang Xuan, of course. She confessed that Lee Feng instructed her to spill everything she knew to gain your protection."
"It's that simple?"
"Yes, it's that simple. What else did you think? How could I afford to investigate Lee Feng otherwise?"
"That makes sense..." Lin Kexin murmured, though she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
Suddenly, she punched Lin Han in the chest, her frustration evident. "Why should I agree to discuss a partnership with Qexoom? With no power or influence, why would they even consider me?"
"Things may take a turn for the better, you know?"
"What was that?" Lin Kexin asked, not quite catching his words, her eyebrows arched in query.
"I mean... since Grandma plays favorites, you've got to take a gamble in life. How else will you get your chance to shoot for the stars?"
