C8 Truth!

Indeed, Lin Han's suspicions were spot on. Lee Feng had orchestrated the whole scenario from the start.

"Why did he use Lin Kexin's phone to send the message instead of his own?" Lin Han pondered.

The burly man wasn't foolish. He knew that after spilling everything to them, Lee Feng would never let him off the hook. Besides, Lin Han wouldn't dare do anything too harsh just to get answers from him. So, he avoided the question.

"I'm not sure. I was only told to wait here for Lin Kexin today and to take everything she had on her," he said, nodding towards Lin Kexin.

Lin Han could see from the burly man's demeanor that he knew the full story but was reluctant to divulge it. Feeling it was time to intervene, Lin Han decided to give the man a nudge.

Picking up the knife the burly man had dropped, Lin Han approached him with a disarming smile, speaking in a calm and measured tone. "What do you think would happen if I were to stab this knife into your hand? Let's consider it. If I aim precisely and hit your carotid artery, you could bleed out and die. I could just watch you until you succumb to blood loss."

"This basement is deserted, no cameras in sight. If I drag you to some secluded corner, by the time you're found, a couple of days might have passed. Everyone will likely assume it was suicide, that you died from blood loss. No one would suspect murder."

"How does that idea sound to you?"

Terrified by Lin Han's words, the burly man began to tremble. "No... no... I was wrong, I admit it! I'll tell you everything this time."

"After the last incident, Lee Feng realized that Zhang Xuan's phone contained incriminating videos of him. He coerced Zhang Xuan into giving him the phone. Fearing the exposure of his misdeeds, he decided to send the text from Zhang Xuan's phone."

"Lee Feng figured that if the truth came out, the blame would fall on Zhang Xuan. He could claim that she acted on her own to curry favor with him, and he could wash his hands of the whole affair."

Lin Han had not anticipated Lee Feng to be so deviously shrewd.

Before taking action, he had already planned his exit strategy.

Yet, Lin Han wouldn't bother someone unless he intended to leave them with no way out.

The burly man, mistaking Lin Han's silence for dissatisfaction, continued to speak.

"Lee Feng has very detailed information on the Chepapp Group. He's been working on getting his people to prepare a comprehensive proposal!"

Lin Kexin had long suspected that Lee Feng possessed detailed information about the Chepapp Group.

Her grandmother favored Lee Feng, as he was the only grandson in the family, while she was merely a granddaughter.

Having grown accustomed to life in a family that favored sons over daughters, Lin Kexin was still somewhat resentful, but she understood the harshness of reality and had learned to accept it.

Seeing Lin Han's unwavering gaze and hearing no response, the burly man pleaded,

"I've told you everything I know. Please, let me go. I don't want to be involved anymore. I have a family to think about. I'm just a pawn for Lee Feng; he's the one calling the shots, not me."

Lin Han, moved by the man's desperate pleas, finally responded,

"I'll release you, but only if you disclose everything you know. If there's any deception, even if I spare you today, I'll find you tomorrow."

The man shook his head frantically, "No... no... I've held nothing back. I've told you all I know. Please, let me go."

After a brief discussion, Lin Han and Lin Kexin agreed to release the man.

Turning him over to the police would serve little purpose and might even cause complications for the company.

It was best to let him go, especially now that they knew he was one of Lee Feng's men. They would proceed with greater caution in the future.

"Since you've told me everything, I'll let you go. But remember, don't share anything about our conversation today with anyone, especially Lee Feng. You know the consequences if I find out," Lin Han warned.

The man nodded vigorously, as if his life depended on it.

"Rest assured, I won't breathe a word of this to Lee Feng. If I did, I wouldn't last long. Trust me, I won't speak of this to anyone."

The burly man assured her over and over that he would keep the matter to himself.

Lin Han released him, "Alright, get up. You're free to go."

As he spoke, Lin Han pulled a small metal badge from his pocket, adorned with a logo resembling a hawk.

The burly man's eyes widened in surprise at the sight of the logo, but Lin Han quickly silenced him with a shushing gesture.

With his surprise still evident, the burly man turned and left the scene.

Lin Kexin watched the man depart and breathed a sigh of relief.

She now understood the full picture; Lee Feng was the instigator behind all the trouble.

But then she remembered why she had sought out Lin Han in the first place - she needed information on the Chepapp Company. She began to explain her predicament,

"There's not a single piece of information about Chepapp in the company. What little I have is all that's left. I suspect my grandmother has given the rest to Lee Feng, and he's locked it all away, afraid I might find out. There's nothing in the database."

Lin Han could see the distress in her eyes and felt it in his heart. He offered her words of comfort,

"Don't worry, we'll find it ourselves. It's just information on the Chepapp Group, right? I promise I'll get you even more detailed information than what your grandmother had."

Lin Kexin pursed her lips, her expression one of skepticism.

"You don't believe me?" Lin Han asked, arms crossed over his chest, his tone casual.

Lin Kexin was torn about Lin Han. On one hand, he seemed unreliable, but on the other, he had a knack for getting things done. She had to admit, though, his sudden disappearance earlier had left her vulnerable to the robber. It had to be his doing.

Noticing Lin Kexin's hesitation, Lin Han smiled faintly and pulled a stack of documents from his bag.

"Take a look," he urged.

Lin Kexin was reluctant to see what he was offering, but it would be rude to refuse since he was already extending it to her.

She accepted the documents and, upon opening them, her eyes went wide with astonishment. In her hands were the files on the Chepapp Group.
