C11 Return to the Lo Family!!

Lo Chen had gone to great lengths to ensure that Jia Ping would become one of his allies!

"Boss Jia, your words are etched in my memory. There's no need to wait for the future; there's actually something I'd like to ask of you now."

Jia Ping was momentarily taken aback by Lo Chen's statement.

But he quickly composed himself and gestured to Lo Chen.

"Elder Lo, please go ahead."

Upon hearing this, Lo Chen silently retrieved the medicinal herbs for cultivating the Holy Bone from his clothing.

"Boss Jia, these are all Yellow Rank medicinal materials..."

Jia Ping, observing Lo Chen's demeanor, had braced himself for a significant request, only to discover it was merely a few Yellow Rank medicinal herbs.

While these herbs were somewhat valuable, they weren't extraordinarily so.

They were worth merely a dozen gold coins!

Yet, the ideas Lo Chen had recently shared were worth far more than a mere dozen gold coins!

Indeed, if Jia Ping applied them wisely, he could amass a fortune that would last several lifetimes.

"Someone, fetch the medicinal herbs for Elder Lo."

No sooner had he spoken than a servant entered, respectfully taking the prescription and departing.

"Elder Lo..."

Before he could continue, Lo Chen interjected, "Boss Jia, there's no need for such formality between us."

Caught off guard, Jia Ping chuckled and replied, "Absolutely, if Elder Lo doesn't object, then I'll take the liberty of calling you Brother Lo."

Lo Chen responded with an amiable nod, accepting the fraternal title.

Jia Ping gave Lo Chen a thoughtful look and mused internally, "This young man is destined for greatness; he's bound to soar to new heights at the first sign of opportunity!"

Jia Ping had resolved to cultivate a friendship with a prodigy like Lo Chen.

As a businessman with limited talent for cultivation, he knew the value of such connections.

After all, with successful cultivation, what wealth couldn't one attain?

"Brother Lo, I notice you're requesting Yellow Rank medicinal herbs. Could it be that you're also an alchemist?"

After posing the question, Jia Ping hesitated.

On this continent, alchemists held a highly esteemed status.

Even the City Lord would show utmost respect to an alchemist, let alone someone like him.

"I'm just using these herbs to bolster my body."

Alchemist?

Lo Chen wasn't an alchemist, but he did have a system!

The excuse Lo Chen offered was certainly plausible.

It's well-known that Lo Chen hadn't been with the Lo family since his youth, so his opportunities to use medicinal herbs for bodily improvement were quite limited!

"Boss, the herbs are all packed."

At that moment, the attendant who had previously spoken on behalf of Jia Ping quietly approached and informed him.

Jia Ping, slightly taken aback, nodded in acknowledgment.

With that settled, Jia Ping gestured respectfully to Lo Chen.

"Elder Lo, the medicinal ingredients are ready. Shall we depart?"

Lo Chen nodded without a word and followed Jia Ping out of the reception hall.

Truth be told, given Lo Chen's reputation for demanding money, he wouldn't typically be found lingering in a reception hall.

After all, who would welcome a debt collector into such a place?

Yet, this incident also highlighted the Lo family's current prominence.

Forget Jia Ping; even all the city's merchants combined couldn't hold a candle to the Lo family!

"Thank you, Boss Jia."

Lo Chen, holding the herbs, gave a nod to Jia Ping and then left the Jia household.

At that moment, the two Lo family disciples who had been following Lo Chen exchanged nods as they saw him emerge.

One headed to the Lo family to report back to his fourth brother.

The other continued to shadow Lo Chen discreetly on his way back to the Lo family.

Lo Chen was no fool; he was well aware someone was tailing him.

With a mischievous grin, he thought to himself,

"If you're so keen on following me, I'll give you your fill!"

With that, Lo Chen started weaving through the streets, his destination unclear.

The servant, realizing that Lo Chen wasn't on the path to the Lo family, was momentarily baffled.

But before he could gather his thoughts, he was hoisted into the air by a passing carriage and dropped in the middle of the road.

As he was about to speak, he noticed Lo Chen had already sidled up beside him.

"People here are trying to scam me!"

Scam?

Being from another world, the servant didn't grasp what Lo Chen was implying.

Not just the servant—everyone else was equally perplexed by Lo Chen's comment.

"Blackmail is when someone intentionally falls down to make you pay," someone explained. The crowd immediately erupted into murmurs of shock and disbelief.

"How could such a refined young man stoop to such lows?" they whispered among themselves, their words dripping with scorn for the young servant.

"Bastard, do you have any idea who I am?" the servant blurted out in frustration.

At that, Lo Chen couldn't suppress a smile.

"Oh?" The sound of that single syllable sent the servant into a panic, his back drenched in sweat.

"So, who are you, really? A stalker, perhaps?" the servant was asked, but upon catching the significant look in Lo Chen's eyes, he understood the unspoken message. By denying the accusation, he would inadvertently confirm that his elder brother had indeed sent someone to tail him.

With this realization, the servant gritted his teeth and admitted, "Yes, I'm a blackmailer!"

Lo Chen's lips curled into a knowing smile at the servant's confession.

"Take him to the City Lord Mansion!" declared the honest townspeople, as they escorted the servant away. Despite being a cultivator, the servant was powerless to escape, bound by the crowd.

Lo Chen watched with a hint of contempt. Such amateur tactics to follow him? Now that the spy had been delivered to the City Lord Mansion, he had nothing to worry about. Humming a tune, Lo Chen made his way home.

Lo Ding, Lo Chen's elder brother, had been eagerly awaiting his return and greeted him at the door. "Mr. Lo Chen, you're back?"

Lo Chen gave Lo Ding a cursory glance, well aware that the day's events were orchestrated by him. Yet, if Lo Ding were to learn that someone had been taken to the City Lord Mansion, would his mood remain as pleasant?

The thought brought a sly smile to Lo Chen's face. "Mr. Lo Chen, you seem quite pleased. Could it be... you've recovered the money?"

Seeing Lo Chen brimming with joy, Lo Ding was anything but pleased.

Getting the money back?

That was laughable!

It was common knowledge that he had reclaimed the funds long ago; he simply hadn't ripped up the receipt.

If Jia Ping had handed the money over to Lo Chen without any fuss, Lo Ding wouldn't have bothered with such measures.
