C14 He Was Just a Clown!
"I never intended to harm him; he's just overly sensitive."
Housekeeper Lo was momentarily at a loss for words. Why would you insist on tormenting someone from your own family?
And it wasn't just Housekeeper Lo who was upset; Lo Wushuang felt his heart ache with frustration.
"Kid, I... I... I!"
Lo Wushuang was already nursing some hidden injuries, and Lo Ding's outburst nearly brought them to light.
"Father... Father, I'm sorry. I'm inhumane."
Seeing Lo Wushuang genuinely upset, Lo Ding started to panic.
"Frame your own brother again, and next time, I swear I'll kill you, you bastard!"
Lo Wushuang was on the verge of exploding with anger, yet he was also deeply confused.
He couldn't fathom why Lo Ding was so intent on seeing Lo Chen dead!
But Lo Chen knew, and he locked eyes with Lo Ding, whose gaze was as venomous as a scorpion's.
"A mere buffoon!"
Lo Chen spared no courtesy for Lo Ding. He made the remark while Lo Ding was still present.
Housekeeper Lo's face turned pale as he addressed Lo Chen, "Young Master, how could you..."
Before Housekeeper Lo could finish, Lo Chen fixed him with a piercing glare.
A commanding presence enveloped Housekeeper Lo in an instant: "Housekeeper Lo, am I wrong?"
Indeed, wasn't he right?
In Lo Chen's view, Lo Ding was nothing more than a buffoon.
But who else would dare to voice that now?
"Young Master."
"Hmph!"
Lo Ding shot Lo Chen a cold snort and quickly departed with his entourage.
"Young Master Chen, why bother provoking him?"
Lo Chen glanced at Lo Ding and addressed Housekeeper Lo, "This is the Lo family. Surely you can protect me here?"
Housekeeper Lo's face fell, and he bowed his head deeply.
Seeing this, Lo Chen allowed himself a slight chuckle.
He left unsaid another thought: "If you fail to protect me, then I'll have to kill Lo Ding myself."
With a smile, Lo Chen walked away, while Housekeeper Lo watched him go before returning to Lo Wushuang's side.
"What's the situation?"
Upon hearing this, Housekeeper Lo quickly knelt down, "Master, Young Master Chen, he..."
Lo Wushuang was unaware of Lo Chen's impressive display outside, mistakenly believing that Housekeeper Lo's behavior was evidence of Lo Chen's inadequacy. She frowned in disapproval.
"I knew it. A fool's recovery can only go so far!"
"Master, I think it's time to foster a better relationship with Young Master Chen."
These words took Lo Wushuang by surprise, prompting her to give Housekeeper Lo a startled glance.
"Do you realize what you're saying?"
Housekeeper Lo nodded earnestly. "Master, Young Master Chen's actions don't resemble those of a fool. In fact, he sees some things more clearly than I do."
Housekeeper Lo was none other than Lo Gaang, whose intellect and acumen were renowned. Even during family meetings, Lo Wushuang occasionally sought Lo Gaang's counsel.
"Alright, I understand."
Despite her surprise, Lo Wushuang remained reluctant to embrace her son. Ironically, Lo Chen felt the same way about his father.
Returning to his quarters, Lo Ding's expression turned sour. "That ungrateful cur dares to challenge me!"
Lo Ding had hoped that Lo Chen would bow to him, ideally submitting to his authority. He anticipated little resistance from Lo Chen when the time came to turn the tables. However, Lo Ding hadn't expected Lo Chen to not only handle the situation adeptly but also to earn a rebuke from Lo Wushuang.
"Why so upset, Fourth Young Master?" asked the newcomer, as Lo Ding glared at him darkly.
"Jia Yu, you have the audacity to face me!"
Jia Yu's smile vanished at Lo Ding's words.
"What do you mean, Fourth Young Master?"
Lo Ding scoffed, "Your dear brother, Jia Yuan, spilled everything to Lo Chen!"
Jia Yu's face paled. He had been the one to align with the Lo family at Lo Ding's behest, never imagining his brother Jia Yuan would bungle things without consulting him. Why hadn't his brother discussed such important matters with him?
"Fourth Young Master, please don't be upset. I've just returned from out of town and am not fully up to speed yet. Just give me a moment..."
Before Jia Yu could finish his plea, Lo Ding interrupted with a dismissive wave of his hand, "Save your breath. I have no further use for you all!"
With those final words, Lo Ding haughtily commanded, "Get out of my sight!"
Jia Yu's face shifted between shades of anger and restraint. He had no intention of indulging Lo Ding's foul temper and promptly turned to leave the Lo family estate.
Lo Ding watched Jia Yu's retreating figure with a sneer.
"What a piece of garbage! If it weren't for the slight usefulness of your brother, Jia Yuan, you wouldn't even be worthy of speaking to me!"
Jia Yu overheard this insult and his face contorted with rage.
"You...!"
He spun around, barely containing his fury, looking as though he was about to charge at Lo Ding and throw a punch.
But he wasn't just representing himself; he had the reputation of the Jia family to consider.
So, with a forced smile, Jia Yu sarcastically raised his hand in agreement, "Absolutely, Fourth Young Master. You're completely right."
Having said his piece, Jia Yu wasted no time in exiting the Lo residence.
"What a load of nonsense."
As Jia Yu disappeared from view, Lo Ding burst into laughter, summoning his maidservant to knead his shoulders and back.
From the shadows, Lo Wushuang watched Lo Ding indulge in his pleasures and shook her head in disappointment.
She, Lo Wushuang, had been renowned for her wisdom, and yet she had such a disgraceful son.
Could it be... he wasn't truly her offspring?
The thought barely took shape before Lo Wushuang dismissed it.
Impossible.
After all, the Lo family had always been a clan too formidable to infiltrate.
Not just any thief of hearts, but even the most skilled warriors of the martial world would struggle to breach the Lo family's defenses.
Meanwhile, Lo Chen was in his room, serenely harmonizing with the newly attained Spiritual Qi of the Qi Condensation Stage.
It was essential to prevent the Qi from rebounding, for if it did, all his efforts in reaching the Qi Condensation Stage would be in vain.
After a short while, Lo Chen inhaled deeply and exhaled a three-foot strand of white Qi.
Lo Chen opened his eyes, nodding with a hint of satisfaction.
It was done; he had achieved the Qi Condensation Stage!
Moreover, there would be no rebound!
Still, Lo Chen was not one to become complacent. His sights were set far beyond what this small place could ever contain.
