C4 The Interview Was Hellishly Difficult

Just as I was about to head to the TV station, someone showed up right on my doorstep! It looked like my luck was at an all-time high!

Lin Haoyu was filled with joy. Straining his eyes to read the name on the badge clearly, he stared intently at Yu Dandie's chest badge, which seemed to irritate her.

"Hey! Buddy, why are you staring at my chest?" she snapped.

Yu Dandie had encountered plenty of men like him, but as a Taekwondo expert, no one had ever succeeded in getting the better of her.

"Ahem, no reason," Lin Haoyu coughed, feeling a bit sheepish about being caught eyeing the badge.

"So, you're Yu Dandie from the TV station, right?" he asked.

Yu Dandie's brows furrowed, and she gave him a displeased look. "Is that what you were looking at?"

She had mistaken him for a gentleman, but now she realized this rogue was taking an interest in her name and workplace. Her disdain for him grew.

Lin Haoyu let out a light chuckle. "Exactly. I've just been fired, and I was actually on my way to the TV station to look for work."

Without waiting for her consent, Lin Haoyu grabbed a shared bike from the side and wheeled it onto the street.

"What's the matter? Is it out of your way?"

With a mischievous smile, Lin Haoyu rang the bike bell, snapping Yu Dandie out of her daydream, which had taken her as far as Acurfast.

She knew they were both headed to the TV station; how could it not be on her way?

Yu Dandie's favorability toward Lin Haoyu dropped another notch. She lowered her eyelids and said coldly, "You're free to go, but let's get one thing straight—I don't know you."

"Of course, I don't need your help," Lin Haoyu replied with a light laugh, turning his head to smile at her.

Throughout the journey, Yu Dandie acted as if Lin Haoyu didn't exist, completely ignoring him. Lin Haoyu, content with the peace, didn't mind her attitude and leisurely made his way to the TV station, arriving twenty minutes later.

The TV station building loomed like a towering rod thrusting into the clouds, clearly stretching up twenty to thirty stories.

"Alright, once you're inside, take a left and you'll find the recruitment office. The examiners will be waiting for you there."

Yu Dandie waved her hand with a hint of impatience, shooing Lin Haoyu away as if he were an annoying fly.

Just then, a person dressed like a secretary came out from nearby and approached her with a respectful smile.

"Dandie, you've arrived! The recording for the program is about to start. We've all been waiting for you!"

Upon hearing this, Yu Dandie offered an apologetic smile and quickly followed the person, leaving Lin Haoyu to stand alone in confusion.

Lin Haoyu: "???"

What in the world just happened?

Why did Yu Dandie so resolutely leave me behind to record the show by herself?

Sigh, truly, the heart of a woman is as elusive as a needle in a haystack. Lin Haoyu felt an increasing chill in the evening breeze.

"System, should I still go ahead with the job application?"

Lin Haoyu wiped away the nonexistent cold sweat from his forehead and coughed awkwardly, surveying his surroundings.

[Ding! The host can make his own decision. The system cannot assist the host with everything.]

The cold, electronic voice jolted Lin Haoyu back to reality, snapping him out of the near control the system had over his actions.

"Fine, my mistake. I shouldn't have trusted you, you unreliable thing."

With a silent, sardonic chuckle, Lin Haoyu strode into the lobby of the Shiatan TV Station.

He was already here; how could he just walk away without at least trying? That would be a total waste of his day.

Plus, he was running low on instant noodles at home. If he didn't land a job, he'd have to go out and buy a few more boxes to avoid future inconvenience.

Turning left, he spotted a room labeled 'Recruitment Room.' That had to be the place.

*Click!*

At that moment, the sound of a door handle echoed.

A young woman, appearing to be in her early twenties and looking like a college student, walked out of the room, looking utterly disheartened, and sighed,

"I didn't perform well. Their standards are even higher than at Shiatan TV Station."

After speaking, she lunged toward a young man who had been waiting outside for some time, who bore the look of a fellow engineering student.

The young man offered her a gentle smile and reassuringly patted her shoulder.

"It's all good, our You'er is incredibly talented. It's just that these folks lack experience and the discerning eye of a true connoisseur."

Seeing that the girl's mood hadn't improved but had actually grown sadder, the young man let out a small sigh and then broke into a smile.

"Hey, how about we go try out some trendy food?"

It's a well-known fact that girls love to eat. This statement holds true no matter where or when.

There's a saying that food is the cure-all for everything. Maybe it was coined by the legendary Vorziji Shuo, who is said to have originated every phrase in the world. Every word he uttered was a proverb, although more than 99% of it was probably just blather...

In a flash, the girl stopped her sobbing, looked up with joy, and nodded eagerly like a chick pecking at grains.

"Sure! I want to eat something delicious!"

The young man then gave her an affectionate glance, and they both left the doors of the city radio station together.

Lin Haoyu rolled his eyes at them, a mix of disdain and envy in his gaze, and thought to himself,

"Those who flaunt their love die fast, those who flaunt their love die fast."

Upon entering the recruitment room, Lin Haoyu was greeted by three interviewers sitting sternly in front of him, with an empty chair waiting for him.

"Hmm? Are you here for an interview?"

Kang Biqin raised an eyebrow slightly. She didn't recall anyone like him on the list.

"Yes, my name is Lin Haoyu. I'm here to apply for the position of a host."

Lin Haoyu offered a sheepish smile and scratched his head.

Kang Biqin's frown deepened as she assessed Lin Haoyu's casual attire, causing her initial impression of him to drop a notch.

"Oh? A host? Do you have any experience with hosting, or are you a broadcasting student?"

Kang Biqin's interest was piqued, and she couldn't help but give a slight nod of approval.

"He seems quite promising, but I wonder about his capabilities. If he's good, I might consider involving my nephew in the next recruitment cycle."

She was lost in thought, knowing that this was a matter that could affect her professional future and required her full attention.

Lin Haoyu offered a resigned smile and replied,

"Sorry, I'm just a regular office worker. I haven't studied to be a host."

With a swoosh, Kang Biqin's initial excitement quickly plummeted, and she gave him a cold glance.

"Have a seat."

Lin Haoyu nodded to each of the three examiners, feeling his heart rate settle down slightly.

He strode over to the chair without hesitation and sat down.

But before he could fully settle in, Lin Haoyu sensed something amiss. Was there something odd about this chair?

"Crash!"

Clearly, he hadn't noticed that the chair legs were broken. As soon as he sat down, he tumbled to the floor, his composure completely shattered.

In a flash, Lin Haoyu found himself in full contact with the ground.

"Damn it! What the hell is this?"

His face clouded over with irritation as he stood up, frowning and turning to look back.

The sight of the broken chair seemed to mock his unfortunate lack of judgment.

"Snort!"

Jian Yang, another examiner, couldn't contain himself upon witnessing Lin Haoyu's awkward predicament and burst into laughter.

"Interesting. Everyone has been bested by this first challenge, but you're the first to bounce back so quickly."

With that, Kang Biqin dismissively waved her hand and tossed four books at Lin Haoyu, her sneer cutting through the air.

"Alright! Here's the deal: I'm giving you four books. In five minutes, I'll choose a page number for you to recite from memory, and you'll translate it into English without missing a word. Pass, and you're in. You can join us right away."

"What in the world?"
