C16 He Confessed

Back at his desk, Lee Yifan couldn't settle down.

He found himself bursting into laughter amidst his busyness.

The reason was simple: Dung Tao had just shared some exciting news.

A department manager at Aurora Film was an old college buddy of Dung Tao's!

With that connection, Dung Tao planned to invite him to dinner and persuade him not to collaborate with Ning Shang.

The old Dung Tao, despite his lecherous ways, always had the company's best interests at heart.

In the past, he would have locked down such a big deal before anything else. Who would have thought he'd be pushing it away today?

But after the humiliation he suffered yesterday in front of the team, his heart yearned for revenge to lift his spirits.

Especially against Yin Tian and Ning Shang!

Ning Shang was out of the question; after the scandal, Dung Tao knew he had no chance of pursuing her openly.

As for Yin Tian, Dung Tao harbored old grudges and fresh resentment.

He certainly wasn't going to let him off the hook.

After hatching their plan, Dung Tao couldn't wait to call his old classmate.

Their college friendship was solid enough, and his friend readily agreed to meet. They reminisced about the good old days before hanging up.

Lee Yifan, armed with this information, couldn't stop grinning like a fool.

He'd probably even rehearsed how he'd mock Yin Tian when the time came.

Everything was in place; now, it was just a matter of waiting for the drama to unfold!

. . .

Days flew by, and before they knew it, Friday arrived.

With the banquet scheduled for the next day, Ning Shang was adamant about taking Yin Tian shopping for a suitable outfit after work.

Furthermore, she volunteered to pay for the clothes under the pretext of "accompanying me to the cocktail party."

Watching her sneakily handle the payment, Yin Tian found her endearingly naive.

And every time he inquired about the price, she'd dismiss it with a casual "it's not expensive."

Ning Shang thought she could keep the cost a secret from Yin Tian, not realizing he already knew the price thanks to his special ability.

Yin Tian played along joyfully, pretending to be none the wiser.

He picked a restaurant at random for dinner.

"Ning Shang, how about we catch a movie after we eat?" Yin Tian suggested nonchalantly once Ning Shang had finished her meal with grace and dabbed at her lips.

"A movie? Which one do you want to see?" Ning Shang asked, oblivious to any ulterior motive.

Seeing no sign of refusal from Ning Shang, Yin Tian eagerly slid his phone across the table to her.

Displayed on the screen was a movie poster that Yin Tian had prepared well in advance.

After a moment's thought, Ning Shang nodded her assent.

Quickly, they made their way to the movie theater.

At the ticket counter, Yin Tian offered to get the tickets and, with a quick detour, pulled out two pre-purchased tickets from his pocket.

"Let's head in," he said.

Ning Shang accepted the ticket without a second thought and followed Yin Tian into the theater.

The movie started shortly after.

Yin Tian had chosen a heartwarming romantic comedy.

Online reviews were filled with sentiments like "It makes me want to fall in love all over again" and "It reminds me of my first love," earning the film the title of "Romantic Movie of the Year."

They watched the film in silence.

An hour and a half flew by, and the movie was nearing its end.

Yin Tian grew increasingly anxious.

As the credits began to roll, the audience grew restless, many getting up to leave.

But then, unexpectedly, the screen shifted to a man narrating his own story.

"What the heck?"

"Does this movie have a post-credits scene? I've never heard of that."

Ning Shang recognized the man as Yin Tian.

"What are you up to?" she asked, puzzled.

Yin Tian remained silent; the VCR he had prepared would do the talking.

The man on the screen began his tale.

Most of the audience watched out of curiosity, seeking a bit of extra entertainment.

But for Ning Shang, it was personal.

The story concluded, and the screen changed once more to display a series of beautiful photographs of Ning Shang taken by Yin Tian.

The young people in the audience were taken aback.

"Is that the girl from the video? I'm smitten."

"If my girlfriend were... Ouch, stop pinching, that hurts! My girlfriend is even more beautiful than her."

"After all that buildup, the leading lady finally made her entrance, and she certainly lived up to expectations."

"If I ever met someone that stunning, I'd be just as romantic."

Ning Shang's cheeks flushed with a bashful glow as she soaked in the adulation.

She glanced at Yin Tian, who gazed back at her with heartfelt affection, and playfully clenched her tiny fist.

"Yin Tian, you sneak, taking all those secret photos of me. Hmph."

She had figured out what Yin Tian was up to.

If their colleagues from Group One were here, their jaws would hit the floor.

Since when did their aloof goddess show such a demure side?

At last, the slideshow ended, and the screen displayed the words, "Ning Shang, will you be my girlfriend?"

Simultaneously, Yin Tian produced a bouquet of roses he'd stashed under his seat and echoed the on-screen proposal.

"Ning Shang, will you be my girlfriend?"

The audience in the theater took notice of the unfolding romance.

Out of nowhere, someone bellowed, "Get together!" igniting a fervor throughout the crowd.

A chorus of "Get together" chants swelled, echoing in unison, as the cinema buzzed with excitement.

Ning Shang gave a barely perceptible nod, her blush deepening to her neck and ears.

"Fantastic!"

Yin Tian swept Ning Shang into his embrace, the cheers of the onlookers fading into the background as they reveled in their own serene bubble.

In Yin Tian's eyes, Ning Shang's status updated—'Likes Yin Tian' now a permanent fixture in her bio.

"Ning Shang,

26 years old,

Sales Team Leader at Knevoof Group.

The sole daughter of Carrimon's wealthiest man, Ning Tianhao, and now, Yin Tian's girlfriend.

Net worth: 20 billion."

Curiosity abounded in the theater.

The scene was quickly broadcasted online through texts and videos by several attendees.

Before long, Ning Tianhao caught wind of the event.

Bang!

His secretary jumped at the sound.

But it wasn't Ning Tianhao pounding the desk; it was his wife.

"Hey, take it easy."

Ning Tianhao himself was startled.

Yet, he swiftly moved to soothe her, "Do you see our daughter there?"

After finishing his sentence, he switched to a different video.

The person filming had circled the cinema, capturing almost everyone on camera.

Yet, they had somehow missed Yin Tian and Ning Shang.

Upon noticing this, Ning Tianhao's wife couldn't spot the two either.

Trying to reassure her, Ning Tianhao said, "Perhaps the boy is just reading too much into it. It seems our daughter didn't even give him the time of day."

What he left unsaid was the special nature of his daughter's relationship with Yin Tian.

This seemed to quell his wife's anger.

"Do you know who that man is?" she asked.

"Yes, I believe his name is Yin Tian."

"Have the butler bring me his information."
