C7 He Was Happy to be a Father

Dung Tao gestured again, prompting Lee Yifan to lean in attentively.

"Here's the plan: shadow him for the next few days. His every move is your every move. If he lands a deal, you swoop in and take it."

"This..." Lee Yifan's interest was piqued, yet the thought of Yin Tian's formidable build sparked a flicker of fear within him.

He was the type to resort to underhanded tactics behind someone's back, not brazenly poach clients in Yin Tian's presence.

Truth be told, he was scared.

"What's there to fear?" Dung Tao, familiar with Lee's disposition, nudged him with a kick. "If he tries anything, we'll just call the cops!"

Instantly, Lee Yifan envisioned Yin Tian being detained, even conjuring up the image of his resentful expression as he was led away.

Biting the bullet and figuring a beating might be the worst of it, Lee Yifan's gaze hardened with resolve.

"Deal!"

...

Yin Tian had initially planned to quit his job after his eyes underwent a strange transformation.

With such an ability, he could make money anywhere.

Why endure this dead-end struggle?

But without a solid plan to make money and considering Ning Shang was still there, he reluctantly shelved the idea.

Working a regular job was out of the question!

Once he devised a money-making scheme and got rid of Dung Tao, leaving would be no issue.

As he was about to settle into work, a little girl peered curiously through the glass door.

"Who does this little one belong to?" a colleague wondered, opening the door to let her in.

The girl scanned the room until her eyes landed on Yin Tian.

With his location pinpointed, she dashed over and flung her arms around him in a tight embrace.

Her next words sent a ripple of astonishment through the group.

"Daddy!"

No, that's not me!

Yin Tian was taken aback, but upon recognizing his little hugger, he breathed a sigh of relief.

This was the same girl who had inquired about the taste of Meng Po's soup just the day before.

He had been unable to access her information then, but now it lay bare before him.

"Name: Hsu Ruoning.

Age: Five."

Bewildered and alone, she longed for someone's company.

The most cherished granddaughter of the Hsu family.

Net worth: $10 billion.

Yin Tian was at a loss for words.

Was it really possible to randomly rescue someone and have them turn out to be a heiress?

Hearing the noise, Ning Shang came out to investigate and, upon seeing the little girl, she couldn't resist teasing, "Yin Tian, since when do you have a daughter?"

Unwilling to be upstaged, Yin Tian gave Ning Shang a thorough once-over, making her skin crawl, before nodding approvingly, "Hmm, my daughter would indeed be this adorable."

Ning Shang caught on immediately, a surge of joy inside her, though she feigned a mix of shyness and annoyance.

She playfully brandished her fist at Yin Tian, then crouched down to chat with the little girl.

"What's your name, sweetie?"

"Auntie, I'm Hsu Ruoning."

Auntie...

Ning Shang's smile seized up.

Yin Tian recalled she had just referred to Hsu Ruoning as "little sister." The sound of "Auntie" in return nearly had him doubled over with laughter.

Now truly flustered, Ning Shang shot Yin Tian a glare before asking with feigned innocence, "Little sister, how did this fellow end up being your dad?"

"Daddy told me to call him daddy."

Yin Tian's grin stiffened as he quickly defended himself, "I didn't, that's not true."

Ning Shang grasped Hsu Ruoning's implication, realizing her real father had instructed her, yet she couldn't help but give Yin Tian a look of disdain.

"Daddy," Hsu Ruoning tugged at Yin Tian's sleeve.

With a wry smile, Yin Tian bent down, "Please, don't call me daddy."

But Hsu Ruoning was having none of it, her big, adorable eyes blinking up at him.

"Uncle is looking for you."

Uncle?

Exchanging glances, both Yin Tian and Ning Shang were filled with confusion.

Led by Hsu Ruoning, they finally met the uncle she mentioned.

A man with a dark complexion and a commanding presence stood before them.

In a flash, his details were clear to Yin Tian.

"Hsu Yang.

Age: 34."

"I apologize, the head of the household was unexpectedly detained, so I've come with the young princess to express our gratitude. I hope you don't mind," the man said, bowing earnestly as they met.

Yin Tian steadied him, "No worries at all."

He had never expected anything in return for his actions, so the lack of formal thanks was of no concern to him. What preoccupied his thoughts was the absence of a detailed introduction for Hsu Yang. The last time he couldn't see someone—Hsu Ruoning—a vision of her accident had swiftly followed. Could it be...

But even after a lengthy wait, Yin Tian saw no glimpse of the future concerning Hsu Yang, and nothing untoward befell him.

"Mr. Yin? Mr. Yin?" Hsu Yang's unease grew under Yin Tian's intense scrutiny, prompting him to interrupt.

Snapped out of his reverie without any leads, Yin Tian decided to shelve his concerns for now and shifted the conversation.

"By the way, why does she keep calling me... calling me 'Daddy'?" Yin Tian voiced the puzzlement that had been nagging at him.

"Oh, that's because," Hsu Yang began, his expression unchanged, "you saved our little princess yesterday, didn't you? A soothsayer once predicted that she would face a great peril in her life but would be aided by a noble person, turning bad luck into good fortune. The soothsayer advised that upon meeting this benefactor, the little princess should acknowledge him as her godfather to ensure her lifelong safety."

Just then, Hsu Ruoning's voice chimed in at the perfect moment, "Daddy!" calling out to Yin Tian.
