My name is Rong Yan, a medical examiner, and I walk between life and death. In ancient times, I was called a coroner, and my profession was of the lowest class, but it wasn't that my profession was despicable. In old times, it was difficult for officials to examine a dead body in a murder case, and it was considered unlucky and taboo to do so.
Every year, there would be groups of people by the roadside lighting up their own Soul Treasure candles. The flickering light from the candles would depict the gloominess and sadness on everyone's faces, accompanied by the drifting ashes that filled the sky. The whole night would be filled with the scent of death and separation, and this day would be my birthday.
It was written in the old calendar that the 15th of July was a Chinese Festival and that the daily value was already dead, so it was inappropriate for him to do anything.
My father believed that he would find someone to calculate eight words for me. He said that I was the son of a hundred ghosts, and that my life was tough and injuring.
When I was seven years old, I had a serious illness. I had a high fever for more than ten days, and everyone thought that I wouldn't be able to survive. Perhaps I really did have a tough life, but I actually managed to survive.
I'm glad that there are still people who are willing to adopt me. My life started to become normal, perhaps because I really believed what A'Bing said. I'm an ominous person who gives away his sons, and am destined to deal with the dead for the rest of my life.
After graduating from high school, I applied for a medical examiner's degree. At school, I once heard a story about a hunter who went hunting for bears in the mountains. He thought they were black and white, but he died because he didn't know there was a grizzly.
The person who told me this story was my university lecturer. The purpose of the story was to let me know that the medical examiner was the one who spoke up for the corpse, so it was important to be fair, strict, and careful. The most important thing was that the medical examiner only thought of the living and the dead.
He died soon after he told me the story.
After I graduated from college, I became a medical examiner. Every day I came across all kinds of murders and corpses, and because of my rigorous and professional knowledge, I soon became the youngest chief medical examiner in the provincial hall.
Everything had been following a predictable trajectory, but a bizarre murder had changed all of my perceptions, and I finally understood the true meaning of the story my mentor had told me.
In addition to black and white bears, there are grizzly bears.
In the eyes of the medical examiner, other than the living and the dead, there was also …
It was also from then on that I got used to recording all of the bizarre cases that I had encountered in a notebook. These unknown Case files were classified as top secret and would never be made public.
What I want to talk about is the cases I have written in this transcript.
I believe that each of these cases is enough to make people feel fear and strangeness. More importantly, there are some unknown and unfathomable truths behind these cases. The first case I wrote down in my diary I called it.
Qing Yi. cadaver
The case began with a case that had been marked in a police file as a piece of scrap.
May 11.
When I was performing an autopsy on a corpse that was divided into two equal sizes, I accidentally found a piece of yellow paper on the corpse pieces. After soaking it in water for a long time, the paint on the paper fell off and the characters on the paper became blurry.
The Taoboreal Hall was mainly a shop that dealt in religious items, but in reality, it was mainly used as a training hall for people, selling talismans and telling their fortune. There were a lot of people coming and going, the owner's name was Zhang Songlin who claimed to be a Taoist disciple, and was very famous locally.
I think that the dead should be related to this place and have reported this to the Criminal Police Captain Yun Duruo. It was already late in the night and she decided to head to the Taoboreal Hall to investigate the situation. It completely changed everything I knew.
Yun Duruo and I rushed to Taoboreal Hall, but no one answered when we knocked on the door. When we left, I vaguely smelled a hint of blood, perhaps because I was working in the field of forensic medicine, I was especially sensitive to the smell of blood. Yun Duruo's occupational sensitivity was such that she was worried that something might have happened to Taoboreal Hall.
When we entered the Taoboreal Hall, we discovered that it was a very strange room. The doors and windows were all sealed with yellow dao talismans, Yun Duruo had inspected all the doors and windows and found that they were completely untouched, other than the place where we entered. This should be a secret room that was sealed by people, but we have never seen anyone until now.
The first floor was the shop and the second floor was where the owner, Zhang Songlin, lived. The bed on the second floor was very messy, as if something had happened and I had gotten up in a hurry.
A broken peach wood sword was left on the stairs, and the mirror by the window was in pieces. There must have been a fight or fight here, because Yun Duruo found the mark of a fingernail on the stairs. She also found a broken nail embedded in a crack on the ground.
We carefully walked down the stairs. The shop on the first floor wasn't that big, so we could clearly see every inch of the place. From the looks of the scene, there should be at least two people in this room, and they have always been in this room, but we couldn't find anyone else.
As I turned around, I accidentally knocked over the teacup on the table. As I was about to pick up the teacup, I noticed that the tea was seeping through the floor. This meant that there was still space under the floor.
Under the light of Yun Duruo's flashlight, we carefully walked down. In the dark underground room, we finally found the owner who disappeared from this room.
It was probably the most gruesome crime scene I'd ever seen in my life.
Yun Duruo's flashlight light slowly swept across the room. The entire room was filled with shocking bloodstains, and all around the walls were written the words' toppled over 'and' varying in size '.
I deserve to die!
I fumbled in the dark to find the switch. When I turned on the basement light, Yun Duruo and I couldn't help but take a step back.
In the middle of the room, a dead person was kneeling on the floor. Both of his eyes were cut off and inserted into the thin glass, leaving only two holes with black blood flowing out. The blood mixed with the black water and drew two eerie lines on the dead person's face.
There were lacerations on the abdomen and the organs were intact, but the large intestine was dragged out of the abdomen to bind the feet. The dead man held his knees with both hands, and an iron spike on the left and right pierced through the back of his hands and through the chest through the knees to the back of his shoulder blade.
The dead were deliberately fixed in this shape, and from the degree of congealing and the marks on the body, it was deduced that the dead body had been dead for at least two days. The entire basement was filled with the stench of blood and rotting flesh.
Yun Duruo was focused on warning the surroundings. This should be a secret chamber murder case, but we only found the dead. Yun Duruo and I searched through the entire Taoboreal Hall, but we didn't find the culprit.
