C18 Hitler Came to Power

After reading Waxillium's letter, Hitler reverted to Ray's bold demeanor and took swift measures. Hitler met Baben of the Catholic Central Party in a church, and the two of them agreed that their National Socialist Workers Party would renounce independence and join forces. Hitler was the prime minister of the government, and the Catholic caucus held ministerial posts in several important departments of the cabinet. What Hitler lacked now was a paper by President Hindenburg appointing himself prime minister of the government.

After the defeat of the First World War, the German Empire collapsed and Kaiser Wilhelm II was exiled. After several upheavals, a republic was established in Germany. The new republic was called the Weimar Republic because the constitution was made in a small town called Weimar. The Constitution of the Weimar Republic stipulates that the President is the Head of State and has the power to appoint and remove the Prime Minister of the Government. So the attitude of the old president, Hindenburg, was crucial now that Hitler was in power.

Inside the Presidency of the German Republic

Hindenburg scanned the room. There were German tycoons, bankers, Schacht, William Siemens, president of Siemens, and Friedman-Krupp, president of Krupp, sitting in a circle. Then he said to the German business owners, "Gentlemen, are you sure this is the right choice for you?"

"Your Excellency, we agree that you should appoint Adolf Hitler, the leader of the largest group of the current German National Revitalization Movement, as the government's prime minister." Schacht replied to the President, and Siemens and Krupp merely smiled and nodded, apparently having already agreed upon this.

"But that young man seems to be too ambitious!" Hindenburg raised his concerns.

"But, Your Excellency, if you do not appoint Hitler as Prime Minister, the Nazi Party is bound to fall apart. The Nazis would then have millions of votes that might flow to the German Communist Party, which would be a disaster for Germany as a whole. At least Hitler guarantees private ownership of the property. " Shaht, the big banker who had succeeded in curbing Weimar republican inflation in the Great Depression, patiently explained to the president.

"That's right!" Besides, there was nothing bad about being ambitious. What Germany needs now is ambitious commanders. " The big arms dealer Krupp was eager for Hitler to come to power and start a war, so he interjected.

"Alright! I hope this is the right choice for Germany. " The old marshal Hindenburg sighed. Hindenburg, who had commanded the war, was not opposed to Hitler's advocacy of foreign expansion, but he knew that his native Germany could no longer afford to fail at a major war. Anyway, the country was handed over to the young men, and with a flourish the letter of appointment to appoint Hitler as prime minister of the government was signed.

Inauguration of the Prime Minister, Audience Hall of the German Republic, 23 January 1933

Hitler stood on the platform, waving his fists, the veins on his forehead bulging to the point where they seemed as if they were about to burst open. His split hairstyle was constantly swaying with the movement of his head, and the mouth under his mustache roared, "In the Weimar Republic, Germany has lost too much already. From now on, it was time to carry out the will of the Nazis. The German people should have no more land, no more compensation, no more unemployment, no more hunger. "Those inferior races should make room for excellent Germans …" The senators in the audience stood listening attentively to the speech of the new Prime Minister, their thunderous applause interrupting Hitler's speech from time to time.

As Hitler walked out of the meeting, he took out a handkerchief and wiped the sweat from his forehead. Next to him, the Nazi propaganda minister, Goebbels, said to Hitler, "The Prime Minister has really said too much today!"

"Do something for me. On behalf of the German republican prime minister, he sent a letter to the Chinese government inviting Colonel Hua Bicheng to visit Germany. " Hitler ignored Goebbels's praise. In that letter, Hua Bicheng talked about racial superiority and inferiority, which made Hitler feel that this Chinese colonel was in league with him, and he was eager to meet this man who shared his hero's views.

"Ok, Prime Minister, I'll do it right away!" Goebbels got into it faster than Hitler.

Looking at Goebbels hurrying away, Hitler roared, "I want the world to remember Germany and me for a thousand years!"

A few days later, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Jinling received an invitation from the German Chancellor Hitler to visit Germany.
