On September 26, 1938, Chamberlain returned to London and relayed Hitler's demands to Czechoslovakia. The people of Czechoslovakia were furious. In response to the British government, the Czechoslovak government refused to revoke the General Mobilization Order and would never cede an inch of territory to the Germans.
