The Japanese army that attacked Baoshan County was the 10th Brigade.
The vanguard commander of the Japs was Sakai, a man who had escaped death at the mouth of the river. Three infantry brigades under his 12 Regiments had been wiped out by the 100 divisions at Sandfield Town, and the Sakai leader had spent an entire night hiding on the beach before escaping to the Japanese landing field
