C18 Large Restaurant
Lee Yun pedaled his bicycle to a modest roadside eatery known as Wang Family's Dishes, the very place where he worked.
Though it bore the unassuming title of a roadside stall, it was essentially a spot for late-night supper, unpretentious and frequented by night owls seeking a meal.
Lee Yun's shift ran from 6:30 pm to 11:30 pm, earning a monthly wage of 2800 yuan.
For five hours of work each day, he took home 2800 yuan, a rate his boss had set out of consideration for Lee Yun's family circumstances.
"Boss, Ma'am!"
Lee Yun parked his bike and entered, greeting the busy proprietor.
"Yun's here!" The boss's wife looked up and beamed. "Took your mock exam today, didn't you? How'd it go? You seem cheerful; must've aced it!"
"Not too shabby—I scored full marks in Combined Science and English."
Lee Yun intentionally omitted his performance in language and math.
"Full marks?!"
Both the boss and his wife were so astounded they froze, eyes bulging.
"Remarkable, Yun!" The boss clapped Lee Yun on the shoulder, beaming. "They say necessity breeds diligence in the young. Not only are you industrious at such a young age, but your academic performance is stellar. If my own kid were half as accomplished as you, I'd be over the moon!"
The boss's wife chimed in, her worry turned to pride, "I feared your work might distract from your studies, but now I see there's nothing to worry about. Lee Yun, you're bound for a great university!"
"That day will come!" Lee Yun replied with a smile. "And when it does, I'll be sure to come back and thank you both for all the support."
"Yun, is something the matter?" The boss sensed an issue.
"Boss, I've been meaning to talk to you—I want to resign."
At Lee Yun's announcement, the couple paused, then nodded with understanding.
"Yun, with the college entrance exams this term, it's not the time to be working."
The boss hesitated, "But I'm short-staffed and can't find a replacement just yet. Could you stay on a bit longer?"
Of course!
Lee Yun was about to agree when the system chimed in.
"Ding! Choice event triggered. Please select:
Option 1: Agree to the boss's request and receive a random gift.
Option 2: Decline, with no reward.
Option 3: Berate the boss for being unscrupulous and earn the skill 'Heart of a Wolf.'"
Lee Yun's lips quirked up. Life was full of choices, and with the System, each decision came with a reward.
Without hesitation, he chose the first option.
"Sure, boss. I'll keep working until you find someone new!" Lee Yun expressed his gratitude, "You've looked out for me so much; I'll hold down the fort until you're sorted. Rest easy!"
"Great!"
The boss's wife was delighted, and so was Lee Yun—his reward was in!
"A Random Gift Bag? Let's see what treasures it holds!"
Rubbing his hands with anticipation, Lee Yun hoped for a five-star card, the ultimate prize in the mobile game.
"Random Gift, activate!"
The bag from his inventory soared into view, morphing into a slot machine and began to spin slowly.
Lee Yun's eyes widened as he watched the potential prizes rotate: skill rewards like the Nine Solar Divine Art, Three Talents Sword Art, celestial voice, celestial writing ability, celestial culinary skills, and more. Item rewards included a cosmic spaceship, kitchen knife, invisibility potion, truth serum, and more. Pill rewards featured constitution pills, power pills, Revival Pills, and marrow cleansing pills, among others.
Everything imaginable was amassed in this place. Lee Yun had a hunch that the System had crammed every conceivable item from anime, movies, novels, and even artifacts from alternate dimensions into this Random Gift Bag.
"What have I drawn?"
