C2 Great Desolate Era
"Big Brother Feng?" Shen Ruyu, who had been standing by his side this entire time, quickly rushed towards him. She nudged him slowly and tilted her head. "What happened? Are you feeling sick?"
"No, it's nothing," Feng Yixiu replied subconsciously, "you don't have to worry."
However, at this moment, his mind and heart were in turmoil. "Could it be that he had awakened something? What the heck was happening to him?" He glanced at his hands and to the people around him to see nothing of the sort. "What–what are you trying to do?" he said under his breath.
Silence was the only answer he got.
It was as if nothing had happened. Those electric shocks seemed to never go through his mind. He took a deep breath.
If he didn't sense the changes his body had gone through, he would've thought that this was just another elaborate prank meant to humiliate him. While the silence was discomforting, it was still something he had expected.
Did that mean that he had a hidden spirit inside of him? That meant he could activate the battle spirit bloodline! He now was eligible to enter the Battle Spirit Academy! His heart started to pulse in excitement at the thought.
The homeroom teacher leaned against the desk as he pushed his hands out, revealing the Spirit Summoning Pearl. "I'm sure many of you have dreamt of this day, where you'll be tested of your possession of the battle spirit bloodline," he started. "Anyone who wants to take the martial exam can come to the stage for inspection. So long as you possess the battle spirit bloodline, you can attend the exam. Now, start lining up."
As soon as the words slipped past his lips, the sound of creaking chairs and bustling students echoed across the classroom.
Everyone rushed to the podium, wanting to see whether or not they have the battle spirit bloodline.
The small podium was jampacked with different students. All their faces were lit up with hope and dreams, wanting to see if they actually have a future in the profession of their dreams. Everyone was practically beaming with anticipation.
Three hundred years ago, Planet Earth had experienced the greatest calamity it had ever seen. Some documents stated how cracks of darkness would appear in the skies, how they were shrouded in the shadows for so long. It was a terrifying, yet also enlightening experience.
Through those cracks, they said that they could see different worlds. Not only could they pay witness to these legendary creatures, but they could even catch sight of dragons! The long-extinct creatures still existed in those cracks!
They weren't talking about the dinosaurs that haunt the Jurassic, but live dragons. Those with horns that could pierce through mountains and snake-like bodies that lurk across the clouds. They were as terrifying as they were beautiful. However, that wasn't the only thing they saw.
The cracks in every area show something incredibly different. While the people in China saw dragons flying up in the air, the people in Northern Europe had witnessed the existence of strange Demon Beast. An example would be the Yemeng Jiade–the gigantic python that scoured through the land.
Because of the cracks, their world had suddenly become a landing point for countless monsters. Even the animals they had were starting to grow crazy with the changes that their land had gone through.
The creatures coming in and out of the cracks were becoming more and more powerful. It was as if the heavens were playing some sort of cruel joke on them. Was this a threat? A death note? Whatever it was, it had changed the way they live–for good. But the only creature that did not change were the humans.
It was the darkest hundred years of mankind. The Earth Land seemed to be in the desolate era again. Even if the humans had the power of science and technology on their side, they weren't enough to overpower the monsters. They needed to resort to other things to survive under their claws.
The only force that was enough to hurt them now was the radiation from the nuclear weapons that humans possessed. However, while it could suppress those monsters' destruction, the radiation also served as a chip that sped up their evolution. Using this would only punish the mankind in the long run.
Just when all hope was lost, the humans discovered the secret key hidden within their bloodline. It seemed that the heavens still hadn't abandoned them yet, for they have given one last line of defense–their battle spirit bloodline.
It was only through the Battle Spirit Awakening Ceremony were humans able to summon out their battle spirit. As their bloodlines develop, so do their abilities when they fight against those monsters. Finally, they had a chance! A hope!
And this hope had transformed into one of the most respected professions on Earth–War Spiritualist!
