C3 Battle Spirit Bloodline
War Spiritualists had gone through many bloody battles for more than a hundred years. Some had died. Some were injured. But it was through their courage that they had managed to recapture a portion of their territory. Only then were humans able to thrive, at least, under the protection of their steel walls.
Despite the minimal space that they had, the humans finally managed to catch their breath. This space of nothingness may seem like they were grasping at straws, but it was enough. This served as a window of opportunity to nurture their strength and train their War Spiritualists to know how to fight those horrible monsters.
It was through hard effort and terrifying experiences were they able to progress the battle spirit bloodline. Now, one out of a hundred people now possessed such a feat. However, time was of the essence. After all, if one were too young, they'd easily be overpowered by their own spirit. If they were too old, then they wouldn't be able to fight back.
Only after the discussion within the War Pet Alliance were they able to set an exact age as to when their battle spirits would be awakened. Fifteen. That was the age they set, and it was enough time to develop what they already had.
The Knowledge Exam and the Martial Exam now served as the most important exams one would ever have in their life. It was like their college entrance exam, except, this one decided their destiny in this ragged nation.
The Knowledge Exam was actually quite similar to one's college entrance exams. The exam tested their minds instead of spirit–how much they could remember and analyze within a specific time limit. After all, science and culture were still the cornerstone of their society, and the only way they could guarantee sustainable develop was to ensure the supply of talents.
The Martial Exam, however, was special. It was only designed for the sake of developing their battle spirit bloodline. The only ones who could qualify for such an exam would have to possess the bloodline in the process.
That's where the Spirit Summoning Pearl comes in–by detecting which students possess the battle spirit bloodline and could assess the quality of their spirits.
Ever since the human race had developed this kind of education system, all of humanity's hope now rested on the children who had come to possess such talents. They were the future pillars of this great nation, and they must be able to succeed their great predecessors.
However, time was limited. The monsters outside the steel walls were evolving faster and faster. If the mankind were to relax one moment, they wouldn't be able to catch up with those monsters' continuous evolving. At this point, this battle had also become a war against time. Now, they must work against the clock before it was too late for them all.
"Mr. Zhou, you've already been tested three times! The Pearl never goes wrong. Please, just step down from the platform."
The homeroom teacher stared desperately at Zhou He as his hands clasped around the pearl. Yet, no matter how many times the teacher reminded him, the student still stayed frozen, refusing to let go.
In his hands, the Spirit Summoning Pearl was dim–void of any light. That meant that the person who was holding the pearl didn't have the battle spirit bloodline. If he was, it would've already emitted a variety of different colors, like a rainbow.
"No," Zhou He shook his head repeatedly as sweat trickled down his forehead. "This–this isn't possible! My parents had spent all of their savings to buy the spiritual pills for me. They even sold their houses! All they wanted was for me to be a War Spiritualist–I can't...I won't..."
Despite his continuous begging, the homeroom teacher remained firm as he contacted the school security. While pitiful, this wasn't the first time he had paid witness to such a tragedy. "Ay," he sighed and watched the student being dragged out the door.
Many families had gone bankrupt just to give their sons and daughters the slightest glimmer of hope of becoming a War Spiritualist. Of course there were some successful families. But most of them were like Zhou He who spent millions just to potentially buy the strong bloodline, only to fail against the test.
While many didn't understand how the heavens had chosen who would carry the bloodline, they all reached an agreement that a person with a strong physique and mind would have a higher probability of possessing the bloodline. That was why many merchants caught the opportunity and began selling these phony spiritual pills to increase their chance of success.
Even though the Alliance had called for people to stop buying the pill, for it wasn't as effective as they had thought, there were still many families who were willing to exhaust all of their savings just to give their children a chance. After all, being a War Spiritualist was a privilege they could live on.
