C4 Heaven's Pride
A few minutes had passed, and more people came forward to touch the Spirit Summoning Pearl. Yet, no matter how many times their fingers grazed against the surface, the pearl still didn't shine.
At this point, their exam was already halfway through. Nearly half the students of the ninth class had already gone through the test, and not a single one of them had succeeded. While others took it well, there were a collective few with tears streaming down their cheeks.
"I hope that you'll all put your minds at ease. Those who don't possess the battle spirit bloodline can easily utilize their scientific and cultural knowledge to further develop our future. You will all still be useful to this nation," the homeroom teacher reassured the disappointed students. "I hope you don't take this test to heart."
Even then, he still understood where they were coming from. After all, who wouldn't wish to be blessed with heavenly abilities? Everyone wanted to be a War Spiritualist, not just because of the profession's unimaginable powers, but because of the respect and admiration that came with it.
However, only one out of every hundred people would be able to awaken the battle spirit's bloodline. Even if no one had passed the test in this class, then it wouldn't be all that strange either.
However, as their advisor, he had hoped that one of his students would become a War Spiritualist. At the thought, his gaze immediately fell on one student.
"Lee Kaiyuan," he called out, waving him over. "Why don't you come over and take your test first?"
Seeing that he was already invited, Lee Kaiyuan slowly walked towards the Spirit Summoning Pearl. He took a deep breath and readied himself. With one last glance at the crowd, he held out his hands and touched the pearl.
Immediately, as soon as his fingers grazed the surface, the once transparent pearl started to change. Faint yellow light streamed in between his fingertips, scattering across the room. Everyone gasped as they admired the light, looking as if they had seen a treasure chest.
"It seems that our class finally has a War Spiritualist." The homeroom teacher nodded, pretending to be as calm when in reality, he was close to jumping up in the air. "Don't forget us when you become successful, all right?"
It was a great honor to have a War Spiritualist in one's class. If other schools were to know about this, then he'd be receiving more and more offers.
The entire classroom, which had been silenced by the successive failures, was now bright with excitement. All of them gazed at their class president with unmatched admiration. Although they were expecting it, the pearl's glowing light was still quite a sight.
"Class Monitor has the bloodline!" One of them clapped. "Damn, and here I thought that pearl was broken!"
"I knew our President was sent by the heavens," the other girl whispered, before looking up at the handsome young man. "When you become a War Spiritualist, you must protect me, okay?"
"Hey! Me too!" Another girl pushed her way out of the crowd. "Let me be your girlfriend."
Before long, everyone surrounded the class president. It was as if they were first seeing their idol, with their glistening eyes and agape mouths. Their arms were all stretched outwards, hoping to grab his hand and ask for his blessing.
However, Lee Kaiyuan didn't seem impressed by the round of women who were huddling around him. He didn't even care about the other men who showered him with praises. All he could see were Feng Yixiu and Shen Ruyu who were standing at the back.
While the other students were celebrating, the pair looked unimpressed. Feng Yixiu was even looking the other way. Lee Kaiyuan couldn't care less about his reaction. After all, the man had always been like this.
What he was bothered with was Shen Ruyu's expression. Even after seeing his success, she remained unmoved. That in itself was just unacceptable!
He had assumed that after seeing his possession of the battle spirit's bloodline, she'd realize how superior he was to that piece of trash Feng Yixiu. Maybe then she'd jump into his arms and ask him to be her boyfriend.
Yet, she wasn't even saying anything! They were even talking and laughing at the back of the classroom, without a single care in the world.
This is just stupid! Although Lee Kaiyuan looked like he was in a good mood, his heart was already thundering in fury. His eyes were already flashing as he regarded the pair closely. Upon seeing that Shen Ruyu still refused to look his way, his annoyance only grew even more.
He slowly walked to their side and chuckled. "Feng Yixiu," he called out. "It's getting late. Don't you have some roadside stall to get to? Why don't you let me accompany Ruyu for a while, yeah? S'not like you'd take the test anyway."
"You son of a–"
Before Shen Ruyu could curse his pants off, Feng Yixiu immediately held her bag. He pulled her behind him and took a step forward.
"Ha!" Lee Kaiyuan sneered. "And here I thought you're just going to let a girl stand up for you again."
"Do you really think I can't possess the bloodline? Are you that sure?" Feng Yixiu cocked up an eyebrow as he neared the arrogant man. While the man was said to possess the bloodline, he didn't look the slightest bit intimidated.
Although Lee Kaiyuan was very tall even at the ripe age of 15, Feng Yixiu's height wasn't that far off either. The two teens regarded each other quite closely, like two predators about to stalk into the night.
"What a joke! If some weak trash like you would have the bloodline, then pigs could fly." Lee Kaiyuan snapped.
Normally, he wouldn't have been so impudent in the teacher's presence, but today was different. Today was his last day of Junior High School. It wasn't like someone would just stop him right there and give him detention.
Besides, he now possessed the battle spirit bloodline. His status and identity with this big reveal alone had tossed him to a completely different rank. The school would certainly not favor a weak orphan with no one to rely on!
