C11 I'm a Little Hungry
Yun Man was filled with a mix of joy and fear. The arrival of her teacher in Copper City delighted her, yet the thought that all her classmates might be dead filled her with dread.
After sending out the coordinates, Yun Man caught Ye Lee's gaze on her.
"Senior, my teacher will be here soon to look for me."
"That's none of my concern."
Ye Lee was indifferent. If Yun Man's teacher came for her, it would be just as well if she took her back.
He had only needed Yun Man to show him the way. Now that he had reached the Eastern Region, she had become more of a liability than an asset.
Just then, the moans of zombies reached Ye Lee's ears.
He snapped to attention, as a horde of at least a hundred zombies charged toward them.
Ye Lee couldn't help but smile; he had just entered the Eastern Region and was already encountering so many zombies. He anticipated even greater numbers the deeper he ventured.
Without hesitation, Ye Lee unleashed additional zombies from his System Space.
His arsenal included: Ah Da, as well as male zombies of Seventh, Sixth, Fifth, and Fourth Level.
For female zombies, he had Eighth, Sixth, Fifth, Fourth, and Second Level.
This formidable squad was more than capable of letting him rule the Eastern Region with an iron fist.
Yet, Ye Lee wasn't one to rest on his laurels. He was acutely aware of his own weakness and the modest size of his zombie horde.
In this apocalyptic world, there were powerful factions, families, and organizations.
Among them were the fabled Tenth-Grade Zombies, the true Zombie Kings.
Rumors also spoke of a sinister force responsible for unleashing the Zombie Virus, triggering the onset of the Apocalypse.
In the face of such powers, he was but a mere ant.
However, Ye Lee was determined to show them that sometimes, even an ant can take center stage.
Ye Lee commanded Ah Da and the other zombies to form a protective circle around him, ready to take down any approaching undead.
The swarm of over a hundred zombies was upon them.
Ah Da and the rest sprang into action, and with each fallen zombie, Ye Lee began the process of synthesis.
His mind's eye worked feverishly, his virtual finger dancing across the grid.
He managed to synthesize thirty Second Level male zombies and twenty-two Second Level female zombies.
Then, he combined thirty Second Level male zombies into one Seventh Level male zombie.
He pressed on with the synthesis!
Besides Ah Da, he now had one each of Seventh, Sixth, Fifth, and Fourth Level male zombies at his command.
Ye Lee successfully merged two Seventh Level male zombies, giving rise to an Eighth Level male zombie.
Contemplating his next move, Ye Lee resolved to quickly combine this new Eighth Level male zombie with Ah Da, which would undoubtedly make Ah Da more formidable.
Next, Ye Lee fused twenty-two Second Level female zombies into a single Sixth Level, Fifth Level, and Fourth Level female zombie each.
Originally, his collection of female zombies consisted of one at each of the following levels: Eighth, Sixth, Fifth, Fourth, and Second.
After merging the female zombies of identical levels, Ye Lee's arsenal now included one female zombie at each of these levels: Eighth, Seventh, Sixth, Fifth, and Second.
Ye Lee mused over the slow progress of the female zombies, but it didn't particularly bother him since he hadn't yet encountered an Awakened-turned female zombie.
Ideally, he was looking for one who had preserved her superpowers from before.
Yun Man's eyes grew wide as she gazed at Ye Lee in utter disbelief.
She was at a loss for words, her astonishment beyond description, having never even heard of such phenomena.
"I'm starting to feel hungry," Ye Lee remarked, a wry smile on his face as he turned to Yun Man. "How about we find somewhere to grab a bite?"
"I can't go. If I do, my master won't be able to locate me," Yun Man replied, regaining her composure.
"You can always send her your location, right? Just update her with a new one when we get there."
Scanning the surroundings, Ye Lee walked towards a hotel that seemed quite decent.
