C12 The Awakened in the Hotel

Yun Man hesitated for a few seconds, then reluctantly followed him. As a Seventh Level Awakened, she knew her chances of survival were slim if they encountered a corpse herd. Ye Lee and Yun Man chose a random room, where he pulled a box of food from the System Space.

"Senior, how did you make this food box appear?" Yun Man asked, her curiosity piqued since Ye Lee hadn't had the box with him moments earlier.

"That's not for you to inquire about," Ye Lee replied calmly.

Yun Man fell silent, well aware of Ye Lee's enigmatic nature.

Ye Lee considered venturing out to scout for any advanced zombies in the vicinity, and Yun Man had no choice but to accompany him. They were fortunate; upon reaching the seventh floor, Ye Lee detected some sounds.

"Senior, are those zombies?" Yun Man whispered.

He signaled for her to keep quiet to avoid drawing attention.

As Ye Lee neared the door, he overheard a conversation inside.

"The Young Sect Leader has ordered us to find Xiao Hui, or he'll have our heads."

"With Copper City being so vast, and swarming with zombies, where do we even start looking?"

"Don't worry. At worst, we're dealing with advanced zombies."

"Without Guardian Scorpion's whereabouts known, facing a corpse herd could mean our end."

Ye Lee and Yun Man listened intently to the exchange inside the room.

"Senior, we should leave," Yun Man suggested, tugging at Ye Lee's sleeve. She longed for her master's return so they could head back to An'nan Base City, wanting to avoid any unnecessary complications.

"Who's out there?" A harsh voice suddenly called from within.

The door burst open before the echo faded, and four men with striking looks and vibrant hair charged out.

"Who are you?" one of them demanded, eyeing Ye Lee and Yun Man with a frosty glare.

Ye Lee assessed the four men; thankfully, they were all just advanced awakened.

"Senior, what's our next move?" Yun Man asked, feeling outmatched. She sensed that these men were stronger than her, likely Eighth or even Ninth Level Awakened.

Ye Lee offered Yun Man a comforting smile. If these five men were all First Grade Evolved Humans, today might be his last.

Yet, the four of them were merely advanced awakened.

The quartet eyed Ye Lee and Yun Man. To them, Yun Man was simply another advanced awakened, while Ye Lee was nothing more than a minor low-level awakened.

"Big brother, this young lady is stunning."

"Indeed, big brother, I've never laid eyes on such a beauty."

Their gazes shifted to Yun Man.

"What do you want?" Yun Man asked, backing away instinctively, aware of the men's malicious intent.

"With looks like yours, what do you think we're after?" one of the men said with a lecherous lick of his lips.

"Back off! I'm a student at Annan Academy, and my master will be here any moment," Yun Man declared in a rush.

Her claim only provoked laughter from the men.

"Annan Academy is just an institution within An'nan Base City. It doesn't scare us."

They advanced on Yun Man, closing in with each step.

Just then, someone stepped in front of Yun Man, shielding her.

It was Ye Lee!
