Lin Xiao took Da Ji with him, and they arrived at the Su family's doorstep with aggression.

"The City Lord left a few minutes ago, yet the Young City Lord suddenly showed up unannounced. What's going on?"

Seeing that Lin Xiao's expression was marked with loathing, many bystanders huddled and gossiped.

When Su Zhenxuan found out that Lin Xiao had come, his cold eyes sniped at him, but he quickly covered it up and asked with a fake smile, "What do you want this time?"

"I'm here to settle the score!"

Lin Xiao smirked at Su Zhenxuan, his gaze alarmingly direct.

"What do you mean? You're here to hit back at me?"

Su Zhenxuan rolled his eyes in incredulity. His mind was muddled with thoughts, but he still appeared composed. "I've already paid my overdue taxes last time. What else and how much more do I owe the city?"

"Cut the crap! I came to resolve our dispute. Stop acting like you don't know."

Lin Xiao stepped closer to Su Zhenxuan, a bright mockery invading his stare. He said carefully, "By any chance, you didn't send people to assassinate me and renege on your word, right?"

"You..."

Su Zhenxuan didn't expect that Lin Xiao would figure out that he was behind the attack that he even proclaimed it so openly. His expression changed drastically, and he roared at once, "Young City Lord, how dare you point fingers at me. Do you have any proof that I sent someone to kill you?"

"Hmm. You're definitely attempting to go back on your word."

Lin Xiao raised his eyebrows and looked at him spitefully.

Su Zhenxuan felt uncomfortable under Lin Xiao's soul-reaching gaze. He immediately questioned him back gloomily, "What a load of crap! Are you condemning the entire Su family based solely on your speculation?"

"What?! Master Su actually sent someone to assassinate the Young City Lord? That's too much!"

"So what if it's excessive? He's the Su family's patriarch. Even if it's the Young City Lord talking, nothing he says matters if he can't produce evidence."

"I totally agree. Basing on Master Su's stance, he obviously doesn't look guilty or worried!"

The onlookers started debating again when they heard Su Zhenxuan's arrogant questioning.

When Su Zhenxuan heard the public's discussions, his face became even smugger. He held his head high with pride and glared at Lin Xiao with an expression bordering on mockery.

Just then, a young man's scream suddenly sounded.

Everyone looked in the voice's direction and saw a young man dressed as a scholar. The Su family's guard was pressing down his shoulder, and he was stuggling to break free. "The Su family has done so many heartless deeds! Why are you so afraid to be called out?"

"Slap!"

The guard holding the young scholar down smacked his face at once and said forcefully, "How dare you disrespect the Su family! Do you have a death wish?"

"Ding! System Notification: Mu Ziliang is a genius at ruling the world. If the host can subdue him, a random reward will be presented to the host!"

Just as the Su family's guards were about to pounce on the young man, the system's voice sounded in Lin Xiao's mind.

He didn't expect that the system could not only summon mythical beings but also recognized the talents of people near him. He was deeply impressed.

Lin Xiao looked up and surveyed the young scholar briefly. He turned to the guards and berated, "Stop that at once! All of you!"

The guard revealed an impatient expression when he heard those words. When he saw that it was Lin Xiao who spoke, a shadow of alarm touched his face. He said in a panic, "Young City Lord, why are you here?"

"Why? Am I not allowed to be here?"

Lin Xiao laughed coldly and ignored the guard. Instead, his head swung lazily to look at the young scholar and asked, "Are you Mu Ziliang?"

"Yes, that's me,"

Mu Ziliang replied excitedly and smiled at Lin Xiao, looking flattered. Then he asked, "You know me?"

"Yes, sir."

Lin Xiao nodded pretentiously. He turned back to the guard again, backhanded him, and said nonchalantly, "When did the Su family get their authority to enforce the law in Jiangxia City?"

"Uhm... I..."

The guard felt offended and mad after Lin Xiao slapped him. He couldn't help but look at Su Zhenxuan, waiting for his command.

When Su Zhenxuan saw this, his expression grew vicious. Lin Xiao seemingly didn't have any evidence to implicate him, so he had to play on the issue as an excuse.

After Su Zhenxuan realized this, he put on a fake smile and said, "My guard only had a slip of the tongue. Now that you've already taught him a lesson, can this prisoner now return to the Su family so we can deal with his punishment?"

"He's a prisoner?"

Lin Xiao raised his eyebrows and asked rhetorically, "What crime did he commit?"

"You want to condemn me based on all those accusations written by this lawless scholar?" Su Zhenxuan only stared at the book, yet his expression remained impassive. Despite the testimony, he still held his firm attitude.

Lin Xiao didn't hesitate to answer back. He announced loudly, "The people are the nation's foundation. If their words aren't heard and respected, then what else can we count on?"
