The interrogation of Lange proceeded without a hitch. Doyle refrained from using physical torture, yet some of his tactics were arguably more brutal.

He had his interrogators dress Lange in a thick sheepskin coat, then lit a stove nearby, subjecting him to relentless questioning in the sweltering heat.

While the staff could rotate out, Lange had no such luxury.

After roughly four hours
