C16 Su Xiaomu Had Evolved!

Su Bai seemed to have forgotten his early days as a little toad, obsessively licking the skin of a crocodile demon beast until his tongue was nearly raw. Cooking the flesh of such a creature was a time-consuming task, and even when fully cooked, it was tough to chew. However, for Su Bai, who boasted teeth as strong as iron and copper, this was hardly a challenge.

For Su Xiaoman and Su Xiaomu, the two young fox demons, the meal wasn't as enjoyable. Midway through their feast, Su Xiaomu yawned, feeling a strange swelling sensation in his body.

"Yawn... I'm so tired!" he exclaimed.

Observing Su Xiaomu, Su Bai had a sudden realization. "Xiaomu is about to evolve!"

"Ah!" Su Xiaoman's eyes widened in shock. After a moment's pause, her face lit up with excitement. "Xiaomu is going to evolve!"

Su Bai rose to his feet. "We need to find a cave quickly to keep Xiaomu safe during his evolution!"

Su Xiaoman nodded eagerly, lifting the sleepy Su Xiaomu in her arms. Together with Su Bai, they dashed to a nearby hill in search of a suitable cave. Once they settled Su Xiaomu inside, they stood guard at the entrance, awaiting the completion of his transformation.

"Do you think Xiaomu's evolution could be dangerous?" Su Xiaoman asked, her voice tinged with anxiety.

"Don't worry, it won't be," Su Bai reassured her confidently, drawing from his own evolution experience. He recalled that he hadn't felt a thing during his transformation; he simply fell asleep and woke up evolved.

But Su Bai's experience wasn't universal. Su Xiaomu's evolution, for instance, was proving to be quite agonizing. Around midnight, the forest was pierced by sharp, mournful cries that sent a ripple of awareness through the mountain's demonic beasts.

What was happening? Was a demonic beast evolving?

In the darkness, several shadows hastened towards the source of the noise. The moment of evolution was when a demonic beast was most vulnerable. It was common for beasts to have friends stand guard during this critical time, to prevent any mishaps. Indeed, the evolution of a demonic beast was an event that drew the attention of their kind from all around.

Su Xiaomu's actions had caused quite a stir, drawing a large number of demonic beasts to the scene.

"Xiaomu!" Su Xiaoman exclaimed, ready to dash into the cave.

Su Bai made no move to stop her. Given the uproar Su Xiaomu had caused, a fierce battle was bound to ensue. It would be safer for Xiaoman to be inside the cave.

Swish! Swish!

Leading the pack were two wolf demons. Exiled from Mount Bloodhowl and rejected by Mount Fang, they were left to roam the borderlands between the two territories.

"It seems a demonic beast is evolving!"

"The scent coming from the cave is so enticing!"

The two wolf demons, famished for who knows how long, salivated at the unique vibrations of an evolution in progress.

"Advance one more step, and you're dead!"

Su Bai's icy tone brought the two starving wolf demons back to their senses. They halted, exchanging wary glances, neither advancing nor retreating.

Su Bai's presence was enigmatic; the wolf demons couldn't gauge his strength and were hesitant to make a move. The first crab might have been tempting, but what if it were laced with poison? Without assessing the risk, they wouldn't dare to proceed.

Swish! Swish! Swish!

Soon, more demonic beasts arrived, lured by the aroma.

In front of Su Bai now stood five dog demons and three wolf demons. None of them dared to step foot in the cave, maintaining a tense standoff.

One of the wolf demons, however, squinted at Su Bai with a glint of recognition.

Lowering its head in thought, its eyes suddenly lit up with realization.

"I remember now, I remember!"

"Second Brother, why are you shouting?"

"Second Brother, what did you recall?"

The wolf demon's gaze was fixed on Su Bai.

"This man is the killer of our Young Master!"

Upon hearing this, the other demonic beasts erupted in shock.

"What? He's the one who killed our Young Master?"

"How could a human be the killer of our Young Master?"

"Someone inform the Wolf King immediately!"

"Everyone, grab him and claim your reward from the Wolf King!" Su Bai watched the unfolding chaos with a cold smirk on his lips. Having evolved to level three, these level one and two demonic beasts were no match for him.

"Isn't he the one who killed your Young Master? Why aren't you capturing him?" The dog demon incited further unrest.

"If you're so capable, you do it. If you can capture him, you can claim the reward too!" The tension in the cave escalated as time went on, and Su Xiaomu's screams grew more intense, signaling a crucial point in his evolution.

The scent wafting from the cave made the wolf and dog demons salivate in anticipation.

"We should attack together. No matter how strong he is, he won't be able to handle all of us!" "Exactly, let's kill him first!" The demonic beasts around them became restless.

The beasts at the forefront took a step towards Su Bai. Seeing no response from him, they grew bolder and continued to close in.

"Take one more step, and you're dead!" Su Bai warned again, but it was in vain.

The leading demonic beasts continued their slow advance. "Puff! Puff! Puff!" Su Bai suddenly extended his palm, his fingers flicking rapidly as poison sprayed forth. The front-line beasts, taken by surprise, were struck down without a chance to scream, collapsing with foam at their mouths.

"Back off, back off! This guy uses poison!" The beasts in the front panicked and retreated, fearing Su Bai's lethal touch.

Then, a voice among the demonic beasts called out, "Charge, everyone! The one in front says he's no threat!" Like a stampede of wild horses, the horde of demonic beasts surged toward Su Bai.

Su Bai swung his hand, releasing droplets of poison from his fingertips. But his movements were no match for the speed of the oncoming beasts. The ones at the front, pushed by those behind, were filled with regret.

"Damn it, what a trap! If I'd known, I wouldn't have been at the front!"

As the number of demonic beasts surging towards him increased, Su Bai swiftly backed away and transformed into his true form.

Instantly, a massive Three-legged Golden Toad materialized before the horde of beasts.

This Three-legged Golden Toad was covered in golden scales, giving it a robust and formidable appearance.

Positioned at the cave's entrance, the toad perfectly obstructed the modest opening.

The demonic beasts swarmed Su Bai like a swarm of hornets, descending upon him with a frenzy of bites and scratches as they reached him.
