C18 Wolf and Dog Battle

"Boss, I've completed my evolution!" Su Xiaomu called out with excitement, only to be abruptly silenced by Su Bai.

"Grab your sister and get out of here, fast!"

The Wolf King watched Su Xiaomu emerge with a curious eye. With a casual flick of his wrist, a surge of energy sliced through the air towards Su Xiaomu.

Su Bai clenched his jaw and swiftly moved to shield Su Xiaomu from the Wolf King's strike.

"Take your sister and leave, now!" Su Bai's gaze was locked on the Wolf King as he yelled to Su Xiaomu.

Catching a glimpse of the Wolf King, Su Xiaomu's pupils dilated in fear.

Biting down hard on his teeth, Su Xiaomu bellowed, "Sister, we need to run!"

Tears streamed down Su Xiaomu's face as he carried his frail sister away.

"Boss, stay strong. I'll be back for you soon!" he called out.

The Wolf King observed the two fox demons' departure but made no move to pursue them.

"You're no match for me. Come with me to the mountain; perhaps I'll spare your life."

Su Bai responded with a scoff, remaining silent.

The Wolf King appeared to read Su Bai's mind.

"You think you're my sworn enemy, that I would never let you go?" he said with a smirk.

"Look at this!"

He gestured to the scattered limbs on the ground.

"This is the true nature of a beast!"

Su Bai held his tongue as the Wolf King went on, "Some time ago, a crazed old man came to Mount Bloodhowl and killed many of my followers. I'm short on troops. If you agree to serve under me, your life will be spared."

Su Bai wavered at this proposition.

He could sense that he was indeed outclassed by the Wolf King.

If there was a chance for survival, Su Bai would certainly not choose a suicidal path.

Noticing Su Bai's indecision, the Wolf King pressed on, "Judging by your willingness to die for others, you're clearly a man of loyalty and honor. I'm confident that once you join me, you won't betray me."

Su Bai felt the tug of temptation.

"I..."

Before Su Bai could finish, a formidable presence thundered down from above.

"Haha, Wolf King, this isn't like you!"

With a hearty laugh, a colossal black dog demon, the size of an elephant, crashed onto the scene.

The Wolf King's face twisted into a grimace at the newcomer's arrival.

Su Bai glanced at the dog demon nearby, suspecting that it was likely the Dog King from Mount Fang.

"Haha, kid, don't trust this old guy. You're his sworn enemy; he'd never let you off the hook!"

"Hmph!"

The Wolf King let out a cold snort.

"Unlike you, who does nothing but bark madly, my words carry weight!"

Su Bai suddenly felt overwhelmed.

The glimmer of hope he had sensed was now muddled by the Dog King's interference.

On the bright side, the Dog King and the Wolf King didn't seem to get along. As soon as they saw each other, they looked ready to come to blows.

The Wolf King instinctively maintained some distance from the Dog King, seemingly wary of him.

"Haha, Wolf King, it's been a while. How's the recovery from your injuries?"

The Dog King's taunt clearly struck a nerve with the Wolf King.

The Wolf King bellowed at the Dog King, "If you hadn't ambushed me during my evolution, I wouldn't be in this weakened state!"

"Haha, but you're still alive, aren't you?"

The Dog King laughed triumphantly.

After catching his breath, the Wolf King regained his composure and retorted, "Such a minor injury is trivial. It's nothing compared to spending a lifetime as a mere dog!"

"Scoundrel!"

Now it was the Dog King's turn to seethe with rage.

"Scoundrel, had you not stolen my Energy Shaping Grass, I would have transformed long ago!"

A smirk played on the Wolf King's lips.

"Heavenly Treasures are destined for those who are worthy. The fact that I took your Energy Shaping Grass shows that transformation was never your destiny!"

"Scoundrel! Scoundrel! Today, I will end you and turn you into an Energy Shaping Pill!"

With that, the Dog King lunged at the Wolf King.

The Wolf King and the Dog King quickly engaged in a fierce battle, the kind that seemed unstoppable.

"Damn, what's happening here? Can I just slip away?"

Su Bai stealthily backed away, feeling unsure even as he prepared to flee the scene.

"Should I really just run off like this?"

On his way, Su Bai encountered Su Xiaomu, who had set out to rescue him.

Su Bai called out to Su Xiaomu, and together with Su Xiaoman, they ran as fast as they could, fleeing the area.

On the border between Mount Fang and Mount Bloodhowl, the kings of dogs and wolves were still locked in fierce combat. It appeared that they were close to determining a victor. As time went on, the wolf king's stamina clearly couldn't match that of the dog king. Whether his weakness was due to unresolved injuries or the excessive energy he expended while tormenting Su Bai was unknown. Of course, Su Bai couldn't care less about the outcome of their battle. His only concern was to escape with his life.

They traversed Mount Fang without stopping all night. At daybreak, the trio finally found a cave to rest in.

"Boss, are we still on Mount Fang?" Xiaomu surveyed the surroundings, sounding unsure.

"We should be. Once we get past the valley ahead, we'll have left Mount Fang behind," Su Bai responded, squatting in the cave and gazing at the mountain peaks ahead, wondering what formidable demonic beasts they might encounter next.

Turning back into the cave, Su Bai fiddled with his storage ring and a demon beast's corpse tumbled out. He had stealthily stashed the carcass in his ring during their escape.

"Our top priority is to quickly enhance our strength. Xiaoman, this demon beast is for you to devour," Su Bai declared.

Xiaoman's eyes widened in disbelief, feeling as though she was in a dream. Just a month ago, she had been worried about finding food, and now she was presented with the chance to consume a demon beast!

Noticing Xiaoman's stunned expression, Su Bai mistook it for disgust at the beast's grisly demise. "We're in no position to be choosy. If it's edible, just eat it!"

"Ah!" Xiaoman exclaimed.

"No, it's not that. I just can't believe it!" she stammered, her tongue tying in knots.

"Quick, devour it before it loses its flavor," Su Bai teased.

Xiaoman, taking him seriously, replied, "Don't worry, I'll warm it up in a bit!"

"Forget warming it up, just eat it already!" Su Bai urged, half-amused by her earnestness.

Su Xiaoman returned to the cave with the body of the demon beast, shifting into her fox form as she started to devour her prey.

Su Bai and Su Xiaomu stood watch at the entrance.

It was then that Su Bai took a moment to really look at Su Xiaomu.

On the surface, there seemed to be no change in Su Xiaomu; not even his head appeared to have grown in the slightest.

Reflecting on his own evolution, Su Bai recalled how his head had increased in size with each transformation. But Su Xiaomu appeared unchanged.

"Xiaomu, are you sure you've evolved?"

Su Xiaomu scratched his head and twisted around.

"I think so. I now have two tails!"

That's when Su Bai finally noticed the extra tail Xiaomu had sprouted following his evolution!
