C1 I Am the System

"Congratulations, host, on successfully binding and merging with the system. Please issue your first mission promptly to receive a mysterious reward from the system."

A soft voice echoed in Yufei's ears, prompting him to leap from his bed in a startle. Surrounded by an unfamiliar setting, Yufei murmured to himself in confusion.

"Wasn't I being chased and then got into a car accident? Could it be that I didn't die?" A strange new memory began to seep into Yufei's mind.

It was then that Yufei realized he had transmigrated following the car accident, arriving in a world where martial prowess reigned supreme, and where strength was the ultimate law.

Luckily, upon his arrival, Yufei had been bound to a system, a revelation that thrilled him. But the system's request for him to issue a mission puzzled him. What was this all about?

After reviewing the system's instructions, Yufei understood that although he had a system, it functioned quite differently from the typical 'Golden Finger' others had. While most systems rewarded their users for completing tasks, Yufei's system rewarded him for missions completed by others.

"System, can I really earn rewards just by assigning a mission to someone at random?" Yufei gazed at the rusty metal panel before him, feeling a sense of absurdity. Was this system not taking things seriously? It seemed as flimsy as a shoddy construction project.

"Yes, host. As soon as you issue a mission and it's completed by someone else, you will receive a mysterious gift. So, take action now."

Rubbing his temples, Yufei realized he could issue a mission to anyone he knew in this world, and if they completed it, they too would earn a reward.

Upon checking the potential reward, Yufei saw that completing the mission would grant someone a brand-new pair of boxing gloves. But these were no ordinary gloves; they were crafted entirely from metal.

Furthermore, they possessed attributes that could enhance the user's speed significantly. Such a valuable reward was not something Yufei wanted to part with lightly.

"System, can I issue a mission to myself?" Yufei pondered, determined to secure the prize for himself.

"Host, you can assign missions to anyone, just not to yourself," the system quashed Wang Yufei's budding idea.

Wang Yufei had a cousin, Wang Xianglan. He was considered the black sheep of the family. Since his defeat of Lee Tianhu, who was two years his junior, Wang Yufei had become the family's laughingstock and the butt of jokes among his peers.

While many kept their distance from Wang Yufei, Wang Xianglan remained kind to him. Whenever she had even the slightest cultivation resource, she would share it with Wang Yufei.

She even stealthily entered Wang Yufei's room to use her spiritual energy to unblock his meridians and heal his injuries.

"System, does this mean I can reward someone with this boxing glove for completing any mission? And how many missions can I issue each day?" Now part of the system, Wang Yufei's first thought was of his dear cousin.

"Your question is excellent, host. Indeed, if you ask Wang Xianglan to slay a chicken king, she will receive the boxing glove upon completing the mission," the system explained.

"The number of missions you can issue daily depends on your points. The more points you have, the more missions you can issue, and the more rewards you'll receive when they're completed," the system added, its tone betraying a hint of impatience.

The system's manual appeared on the metal panel, revealing that today was the first day Wang Yufei had successfully bound to the system, allowing him to issue one mission for free.

From now on, issuing a mission would cost Wang Yufei a point. However, every completed mission would not only grant him a mysterious reward but also earn him points.

"I'll have Wang Xianglan squash a cockroach, and she'll receive the glove," Wang Yufei mused to himself.

"Ding! Congratulations, host, you've successfully posted a mission. The mission is now active. The assignee is Wang Xianglan, an 18-year-old, eight-star warrior with untapped talent. The mission is incomplete, with a time limit of four hours."

Wang Yufei was brimming with excitement. He was now a system capable of assigning missions to others. The mission's difficulty and the rewards were solely at his discretion, and he could see them all.

Wang Yufei was uncertain about the mission rewards he would receive, as his current points were insufficient to access higher levels of authority.

The mission was already set, and Wang Xianglan had to squash a cockroach within a specified time to earn attribute points and boxing gloves—a truly serendipitous prize.

Just as Yufei was about to dash out and urge his cousin to complete the mission quickly, the metal panel before him flashed a message in bold, golden letters.

"There's no need to inform her. You are now the system, and the mission you've posted is a sect mission. Your cousin has received the mission; simply await the reward."

Yufei's excitement grew. His posted mission was integrated with the sect missions, indistinguishable from those issued by the sect itself, with the key difference being that he, Wang Yufei, was the issuer, not the sect.

He learned that his sect, the Sword Immortal Sect, issued daily missions to its disciples, who received rewards upon completion. Thus, Yufei's missions would not raise suspicions, as they would be perceived as sect-issued.

Moreover, Yufei discovered an intriguing aspect: by assigning challenging missions to his adversaries, he could reap substantial rewards and had the liberty to punish those who failed to meet the deadline. Thankfully, since the mission was for his cousin, even if Wang Xianglan failed to complete it within four hours, she would face no penalties.

As Yufei prepared to delve deeper into the system, a notification chimed in his ear.

"Ding! Wang Xianglan has successfully completed the mission. Boxing gloves awarded to Wang Xianglan, awaiting retrieval. The host has earned two points and a mysterious gift bag, now stored in the warehouse."

Eager to see his spoils, Yufei quickly accessed the warehouse through the metal panel and spotted a red box. Unsure of its contents, Yufei focused his thoughts, and the novice gift bag opened.

The message was clear: "Double Cultivation Experience Card for one day. Would you like to use it?" Wang Yufei glanced over the instructions for the card.

By using this card, he would gain twice the spiritual energy. In essence, it was as if two Wang Yufeis were cultivating at the same time, significantly speeding up his progress compared to an average person. Although the effect would only last for a day, Wang Yufei was thrilled.

Meanwhile, Wang Xianglan was pondering her sect and heading towards the reward collection area, still somewhat in shock. The sect had just assigned her a mission using a sound transmitting talisman.

Initially, upon seeing the reward was a pair of boxing gloves, she braced herself for a brutal task. But to her surprise, all she had to do was squash a cockroach within four hours to earn the gloves with special attributes.

Wang Xianglan's perception of the world had been turned upside down. She even wondered if the elders who issued the missions had made a mistake with their medication today.

After successfully squashing a cockroach, Wang Xianglan proudly held a black reward token in her hand.

A minute later, she emerged from the sect, cradling a weighty box, her cheeks glowing with excitement.

Wang Xianglan had always longed for a pair of boxing gloves, not for herself, but for her cousin, Wang Yufei.

Since his defeat by Zhang Tianlong, Yufei had been unable to muster his strength or continue his martial arts training. He was not only ostracized by his family but also scorned by the sect.

Now with the boxing gloves in her possession, Wang Xianglan planned to give them to Wang Yufei, ensuring he would have the means to defend himself.

Unaware of her intentions, Wang Yufei now had two points and a Double Cultivation Experience Card. With these points, he could issue two missions. A face he despised began to haunt his thoughts.

That face belonged to Lee Tianhu, the man who had defeated him and sought to destroy his dantian. If not for Wang Xianglan's intervention, Wang Yufei dreaded to think what would have become of him. Would the Sword Immortal Sect have allowed him to cling to life in such a state?

Wang Yufei's mind suddenly flashed back to that fateful day when he was beaten within an inch of his life. The elders had not only refrained from healing him but had also expelled him. Now, cast out from his family, if he were unable to continue his cultivation at the Sword Immortal Sect, Yufei would be like a stray dog with no place to call home.

He vividly remembered the determined words spoken by Wang Xianglan, her eyes brimming with resolve. "If you cast my cousin aside, then I, Wang Xianglan, refuse to cultivate in your sect any longer."

At just 18, Xianglan was already an eight-star warrior, and her talent was the pride of the sect. Her potential was legendary; it was said that any girl with the Goddess of Scattering Flowers talent was destined for greatness. So, to retain Xianglan and her promising future, the Sword Immortals turned a blind eye to Yufei, whom they considered worthless. After all, he was the cousin of a girl with such a rare and valued gift.

A genuine smile played on Yufei's lips as he thought of his cousin Xianglan, feeling a warm surge within him. But his smile was short-lived; a sudden, excruciating pain ripped through his organs, reminding him of Lee Tianhu—the man who had not only injured him but had also killed the body's original owner.

Previously, Yufei had lain bedridden for three days and nights, neglected by all except for his devoted cousin, who tirelessly cared for him until the frail young man ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Fueled by these memories, Yufei swiftly assigned a task to Lee Tianhu.

"Lee Tianhu must slay a low-level eight-star beast from the Howling Peaks within an hour," Yufei resolved inwardly.

"Beep. Mission recipient: Lee Tianhu, 20 years old, a nine-star warrior with the talent of the Python Strike, a low-level awakening, and an unknown skill. He must complete the task within one hour."

"Should Lee Tianhu succeed, he will be awarded a Bone Forging Pill. Failure will result in the loss of half a month's worth of cultivation resources. The mission is now active."
