C12 It Was too Late

"What are you implying?" Faang Yu eyed Wang Kai with a frosty demeanor.

Wang Kai, however, offered a slight smile. "My apologies. I accidentally bumped my computer and it shut down. Looks like I won't be able to use it for the last few minutes."

"That's hardly fair. If I can't use my computer, for the sake of fairness, shouldn't you be unable to use yours as well?"

Everyone was taken aback by Wang Kai's words; no one had anticipated such a move from him.

Faang Yu responded coolly, "If that's the issue, just restart the computer. There's still time left."

Wang Kai shook his head, "Let's not bother, brother. I concede that I underestimated you—you've got some skills. I don't see a need for us to escalate this situation."

"How about we call it even? You keep your bank card, I'll keep my cheque. We can part as friends. And if you ever need anything down the line, just give me a shout. I'll do what I can to help."

After hearing his words, everyone realized Wang Kai's intention—he was trying to weasel out of the bet.

It was clear to all that Wang Kai was bound to lose.

A loss would cost Wang Kai not just a hundred million yuan, but also his reputation. Most crucially, Faang Yu would have to break Zhao Lingling's hand.

Wouldn't such an outcome leave Wang Kai a laughingstock in Diannan City?

Despite deeming Wang Kai's behavior despicable, everyone believed Faang Yu would acquiesce.

After all, the Wang family was a powerhouse in Diannan City.

If Faang Yu refused, it would be a slight to the Wang family. Crossing them would make life in Diannan City exceedingly difficult.

Wang Kai's brow furrowed as Faang Yu remained silent. "What do you say, Faang Yu? If you agree, consider it a favor you can call on. Deal?"

"Boot up the computer," Faang Yu replied, his tone icy.

The room fell silent, everyone's eyes wide with astonishment.

They hadn't expected Faang Yu to be so unyielding, to outright refuse the offer.

Wang Kai was taken aback, his face darkening in an instant, looking as if he might drip with anger, his expression souring considerably.

Zhao Linlin was livid, jabbing her finger at Faang Yu's nose as she berated him, "You lowlife, what do you think you are? Get it straight—who you are. You're nothing but a pretty boy kept by Su Ningshang, a mere lapdog of the Su family!"

"Not even your own boss would dare to snub Young Master Wang. And you? Who do you think you are, refusing to show him respect?"

"Boot up the computer!"

Faang Yu's voice rose, carrying an intangible force that commanded attention.

His tone was imperious, brooking no dissent.

Wang Kai's face twisted into a snarl as he glared at Faang Yu. "Think carefully, kid. Are you sure you want to disrespect me?"

"And why should I respect you?" Faang Yu replied coolly.

"What?" The room froze, everyone looking on with bewildered expressions, utterly shocked by Faang Yu's audacity.

They were convinced Faang Yu had lost his mind, showing such blatant disregard for decorum in front of this crowd.

Wang Kai was equally taken aback. It had been years since anyone had the gall to show him such insolence.

Those who had once dared to defy him had all vanished!

Even Su Ningshang was visibly distressed. "Faang Yu, maybe we should just drop it..."

But Faang Yu didn't spare her a glance, dismissing her with his indifference.

Fuming, Su Ningshang's face flushed with embarrassment.

Wang Kai let out a cold laugh.

"Fine! Fine!"

He repeated the word twice, then turned to the staff. "Open the computer!"

The onlookers watched Faang Yu with schadenfreude, certain he was oblivious to the danger and that his recklessness would lead to a dire outcome.

As the computer came to life, the stock prices came into view once more.

Everyone gasped.

"The stock has doubled!" they exclaimed in unison.

At that moment, the shares of Tianyuan Electronics that Faang Yu had picked had surged by 100%. If he were to cash out now, he'd walk away with a cool two hundred million.

In a mere thirty minutes, he had raked in a billion yuan—a fortune that many could never earn in a lifetime.

Meanwhile, the stock Wang Kai had chosen, Xingyuan Rubber, had risen by thirty-four percent, but the outcome was clear.

"I won..." Faang Yu spoke calmly.

His voice wasn't loud, yet it resonated distinctly in everyone's ears.

It was a moment of sheer disbelief for all.

Even Su Ningshang was taken aback. Before, everyone had pegged Faang Yu as a clueless country bumpkin.

But now, here he was, having bested Wang Kai, the so-called stock market prodigy.

Wang Kai was soundly defeated, utterly powerless to retaliate.

Yet Faang Yu remained serene, approaching Manager Zhao as if he had done nothing more remarkable than partaking in a routine meal.

Faang Yu retrieved his bank card and then turned his gaze to Wang Kai's check.

Wang Kai stared at Faang Yu with a frosty glare. "Kid, think it through. You really have the guts to take that check?"

But before Wang Kai could finish, Faang Yu had already snatched the check from his hand.

"You!" Wang Kai seethed, his expression turning vicious.

Time and time again!

This nobody, Faang Yu, had crawled out from who knows where, managing to humiliate him repeatedly.

How could Wang Kai stand for this?

Yet, Wang Kai contained his rage. With so many eyes upon him, any outburst would be fodder for his rivals' ridicule.

Wang Kai fixed Faang Yu with a steely look. "Fine, very fine! Just remember, some money can be taken, but not spent! Take your check and scram. You're not welcome here!"

Su Ningshang had already escorted Faang Yu away; it was clear they couldn't stay any longer.

However, Faang Yu showed no signs of intending to leave.

He faced Wang Kai and challenged, "What? You don't think it's over, do you?"

At Faang Yu's words, a ripple of shock passed through the crowd.

Wang Kai paused, then a malicious grin spread across his face. "What now? You've got the check. What more could you possibly want?"

"Have you forgotten our wager? There are three stipulations. First, money.

Second, everyone present must assist—or at the very least, not obstruct—Su Ningshang's company in going public. And third..."

Faang Yu's eyes fixed on Zhao Linlin, causing her to shiver as a cold dread crept down her back.

"Break this woman's hands..."

His voice, chilling to the bone, echoed throughout the hall.

In that moment, the atmosphere froze as all eyes turned to Faang Yu, stunned.
