C15 Survival Assessment

Upon hearing Liu Shijie's remarks, Liu Chengye's features relaxed slightly. He was well aware that Liu Tianlin and Zhou Mo had been thoroughly defeated, and that the enemy would have left no trace. His anger stemmed from the fear that the Liu family's long-held plans might now be at risk of exposure, which naturally caused him some anxiety.

Addressing the Liu family members, Liu Chengye said, "You are all direct descendants of our Liu family. Be vigilant from now on; we cannot afford to repeat such mistakes. We have been preparing for this plan for a very long time, and at this crucial juncture, I will not tolerate any further blunders. If anyone slips up, don't expect me to be lenient. Shijie, the task you mentioned is yours to handle. Prioritize investigation and ensure it's done impeccably."

Liu Shijie nodded in agreement, and Liu Chengye, leaving the others behind, ascended the stairs alone.

Liu Shijie gestured to the group, "You're all dismissed. Tianqi, stay behind." With that, he beckoned Liu Tianqi to join him in the study.

"Tianqi, you were listening earlier, weren't you? I want you to join the Training Camp this time. Your task is to connect with the disciples from the Ye family and ascertain how much they know about our plan. This is imperative! And of course, this is a golden opportunity for you. I expect you to execute this flawlessly, understood?"

Liu Tianqi, the second eldest son of the Liu family, would become the most prominent member following Liu Tianlin's death. Unlike Liu Tianlin, he was not preoccupied with familial status or power; his true passion lay in cultivating his strength.

He nodded with composure and assured, "Dad, you can count on me."

Three days flew by, and Lin Hann arrived at the Ye family's villa early in the morning. He was greeted by the sight of a private jet on the landing pad in front of the villa. Ye Guangyuan welcomed him and led him aboard the aircraft.

After a journey of just over two hours, the plane touched down smoothly. Lin Hann disembarked and surveyed the area, discovering a basin encircled by mountains, roughly the size of two soccer fields, with a complex of more than a dozen buildings of various sizes. A group of individuals were assembled in front of the base, awaiting their arrival.

Lin Hann noticed that a good number of people had already arrived early, clustering in small groups. Not recognizing anyone, he decided to simply close his eyes and conserve his energy, waiting for the rest to arrive.

Over an hour later, Lin Hann heard the call to assemble. He opened his eyes and made his way toward the base.

Around fifty individuals were present, forming a semicircle around four figures in military uniforms, a mix of men and women.

The muscular man at the center spoke up as soon as everyone was accounted for, his voice resonating with authority, "I know you're all here to better yourselves, but not just anyone can benefit from our research. You'll need to pass our assessment to qualify for the next phase of training."

As murmurs began to ripple through the crowd, he barked, "Quiet down! Many of you come from prestigious families and have lived in comfort all your lives, but this is the C Country Military Training Camp! Leave your egos at the door. Here, you follow our orders. Understood?"

The crowd settled down, and the burly man gestured to the female officer beside him to announce the rules. She stepped forward and projected her voice, "For the next ten days, you'll be in the mountains behind me. You each have only one day's worth of rations. After ten days, only the final ten standing will enter the base for further training; the rest will be dismissed. During this time, you'll be unsupervised. Shortly, each of you will receive a wristwatch. Should you wish to withdraw or find your life in danger, activate it. This one-time Spirit Weapon, developed by our military, requires two seconds to activate. It will then create a shield capable of withstanding a full-powered strike from a Houtian expert, while also emitting a distress signal. Our team will respond immediately to extract you. However, let me remind you that our assessment disregards life or death. The Spirit Weapon has an activation delay, so before taking any action, consider your capabilities. Don't overestimate yourselves. Though many of you are the cream of your family's crop, death makes equals of us all. I hope these words won't haunt you in your final moments."

Someone asked, puzzled, "But what if there end up being more than ten people?"

The female officer let out a cold laugh. "Didn't you catch the rules? We're only taking ten people, max. If there's even one extra – say, eleven – then I'm sorry, but everyone's out!" With that, the four officers turned and entered the base.

Many were clearly well-versed in these rules. After collecting their essentials, they each found a spot to sit down, close their eyes, and recharge.

For Lin Hann, this was his first encounter with such a test, yet he was aware that the competition would be fierce. For starters, everyone had only a day's worth of food, effectively incentivizing participants to steal from each other – not only to replenish their own supplies but also to eliminate rivals. The most challenging aspect was the strict limit: only ten people, no more. This meant that focusing solely on oneself wasn't enough; active engagement was necessary. Otherwise, those less capable in direct confrontation but stronger in survival skills could outlast the rest, resulting in everyone's failure. The assessment appeared straightforward, but it was a comprehensive test of various skills.

Lin Hann noticed that many had already started forming alliances in the distance, a common strategy. Having a few dependable teammates could certainly make it easier to pass the test.

Just then, Lin Hann noticed a young figure approaching him – it was Liu Tianqi.

Thanks to the Ye family and Lau Ruyan's intervention, Lin Hann wasn't on the Liu family's radar, so Liu Tianqi had no idea who he was. His initial intention was to connect with the Ye family's disciples to gather information. It was an unexpected twist that Lin Hann was the one the Ye family had sent.

With a friendly smile, Liu Tianqi greeted him, "Hello there. I'm Liu Tianqi from the Liu family. Are you the Ye family's representative for the Training Camp?"

Lin Hann, sensing a need for caution, kept his guard up internally while maintaining a friendly demeanor. He responded with a smile, "Indeed I am. Is there something you'd like to discuss, Mr. Liu?"

Liu Tianqi watched Lin Hann's reaction, detecting nothing amiss. He wondered to himself, "Is the Ye family truly oblivious to our Liu family's affairs? Does my brother's situation have no connection to the Ye family?"

Liu Tianqi spoke up, "Not at all. I've noticed you're on your own right now, and with the assessment coming up tomorrow, would you think about joining my team? Someone with the Ye family's talent would be a welcome addition, and I'm confident my teammates would be thrilled to have you."

Liu Tianqi planned to bring Lin Hann into the fold temporarily, allowing her to keep a close watch on him. If any clues surfaced, she'd be in a prime position to adapt to the situation, especially with Lin Hann right under her watchful eye.
