C21 Supervisor Guard
The attempt on Lau Ruyan's life in Hui City had irrevocably placed the Liu family on Lin Hann's blacklist. To him, Lau Ruyan ranked as the kindest person he had known, second only to his parents. Her care, warmth, and guidance had been a beacon during his times of loneliness, and since then, no one else had come close to offering such support.
Lin Hann had eliminated a staggering thirty-six individuals, impacting not just those who had banded together to condemn him but also the bystanders caught up in the spectacle. With the additional fourteen who had been ousted in earlier skirmishes, only Lin Hann, Liu Tianqi, and the man from the Thunder Department remained.
Four days in, the numbers had dwindled to five, falling below the threshold for passing the examination and joining the training camp. Lin Hann could simply wait it out; once time expired, he would automatically pass. Given the vastness of the forest, the likelihood of encountering anyone was slim. Yet, Lin Hann had no intention of stopping there. He was determined to eliminate the remaining participants and embark on an unprecedented solo training camp experience!
Meanwhile, Liu Tianqi, along with the other two, had discreetly withdrawn to a secluded area in the forest to catch their breath.
With a grave look, Liu Tianqi addressed Qiu Ziang and Xiuxiu, "Ziang, Xiuxiu, now that Xiaosheng and Ye Hann have been eliminated, we're at a disadvantage. Those who've reaped the benefits of alliance will surely band together again, and they'll inevitably target smaller squads like ours for water. We must proceed with caution in the days ahead. Luckily, I had the foresight to ask Brother Ye Hann to stockpile water for us. If we use it sparingly, we should have no trouble making it through this period."
Qiu Ziang and Xiuxiu nodded in agreement, accustomed to following Liu Tianqi's lead. His plans were usually flawless, but unbeknownst to him, the very teams he feared had already been taken out of the game. Had he known, his tactics might have been bolder.
With six days still to go, Lin Hann was in no rush. Frantically searching for the remaining four would be an inefficient and slow strategy. He had a much better plan in mind.
After incapacitating eighteen individuals with a stealthy strike, Lin Hann also replicated their abilities. Upon reviewing these abilities, he noticed that many were limited in scope and often redundant. For instance, numerous individuals possessed similar scouting abilities, prompting him to retain only the unique ones. Naturally, this was Lin Hann's perspective; others had spent their entire lives honing their singular abilities, exploring numerous developmental avenues that Lin Hann had yet to pursue.
Among the abilities Lin Hann kept was a scouting power known as "Supervisor," which allowed him to place a guardian at a fixed point. The shape of this guardian was at the discretion of its creator. It could survey an unobstructed area within a hundred-meter radius, primarily detecting Spiritual Energy Waves. Provided the distance wasn't too great, the creator could sense these fluctuations. Depending on the Spiritual Energy expended, the guardian could last from a few hours to several days.
Lin Hann intended to deploy these guardians in the final three days to track down the remaining four individuals and confront them one by one.
During this period, he also planned to dedicate time to cultivation. His recent encounters with numerous individuals with superpowers had provided him with valuable insights and inspiration, which he now sought to fully absorb.
Meanwhile, Liu Tianqi and his companions moved stealthily through the forest over the next three days, aiming to evade large groups and await the elimination of others through resource conflicts. They were also on the lookout for isolated individuals they might confront.
However, to their bewilderment, they encountered not a single soul during these three days.
On the afternoon of the ninth day, Liu Tianqi gestured for his two companions to halt and said, "Nine days have passed, and tomorrow marks the final day. Although I'm unsure of the others' statuses, if fewer than ten remain, we'll at least pass this assessment. I suspect the likelihood of there being fewer than ten is quite high, given that unlike us, they lack sufficient water supplies. Inevitably, they'll clash over water sources, leading to eliminations either through conflict or deprivation. Given that there were only about fifty portions of water to begin with, it's probable that not many are left at this point."
Qiu Ziang and another individual nodded in agreement with Liu Tianqi's viewpoint, which sparked a sense of eager anticipation within them. If they managed to pass the assessment alongside Liu Tianqi, they would gain the opportunity to join the training that tens of thousands aspired to be a part of. The military's years of research and development would be applied to them—a truly remarkable fortune.
Before long, the final day arrived.
At 2:30 PM, Lin Hann, who had been meditating under a large tree, opened his eyes. He had received a signal from a distant sentry guard that four distinct Spiritual Energy Waves had entered the guard's perimeter.
"Four?" Lin Hann murmured, puzzled. "Why four? Have they teamed up?"
Despite his confusion, Lin Hann wasted no time and sped off toward the area in question.
Meanwhile, Liu Tianqi and his two companions faced the man before them with grave expressions. Recognizing the newcomer, Liu Tianqi spoke in a stern voice, "Lin Chengye! I knew you'd wait until the end, but there's no need for us to come to blows."
Across from him, Lin Chengye's smile remained unfazed, as if he barely acknowledged Liu Tianqi and his group. "Liu Tianqi," he said with a grin, "you're one of the few from the Liu family worth my notice. It's rare to encounter you here, so why pass up the chance for a meaningful exchange?"
Realizing Lin Chengye was intent on a confrontation, Liu Tianqi stood resolute. It wasn't fear of Lin Chengye that concerned him; he simply preferred to pass the assessment without conflict for the sake of safety. Now, with two allies by his side and despite being slightly outmatched by Lin Chengye, he believed they held the upper hand.
Lin Chengye, the Lin family's most gifted disciple of his generation, shared the same Body Tempering Perfection realm as Lau Ruyan of the Lau family, yet he was significantly younger. His talent was undeniable, but his penchant for tormenting opponents had earned him an unsavory reputation. Still, with the powerful Lin family behind him, few dared to cross him. The Lin family's legacy ability, Elemental - Thunder, was not only ferocious in its attack but also unrivaled in speed. The Lin family's approach was always to strike swiftly and brutally, never giving adversaries the slightest chance once they gained the upper hand.
Liu Tianqi had clashed with Lin Chengye on numerous occasions. Despite his pride, he couldn't deny that Lin Chengye was indeed slightly superior to him in strength.
