C16 The King's Aura
He planned to pay Soong Fei a visit later. If Soong Fei wasn't as influential as rumored, then he'd handle him accordingly.
"Insufficient sincerity? Kneel on the ground."
As the onlookers stood frozen, Soong Fei's command boomed like thunder, reverberating in their ears.
"Kneel on the ground!"
He was actually demanding Liao Bilin to kneel and apologize.
Seething with anger, Liao Bilin managed to squeeze out a strained smile, "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Liao Bilin of the Liao Corporation in Jingjiang City. My father is Liao Hong; you might know him from our business interactions."
"Hehe... You think Liao Hong can intimidate me? That's a fool's fantasy. Ask him if he's even qualified."
"I'll count to three. If you're not on your knees by then, I'll be making a call immediately."
"You claimed the Su family no longer exists in Jingjiang City. I'm curious to see how long the Liao family would last if I wanted them gone."
"Three..."
Soong Fei began the countdown, his eyes brimming with lethal intent, which even made Su Weiwei feel uneasy.
"Two..."
He spoke with serene confidence, each word resonating with conviction.
"One..."
Soong Fei allowed no time for Liao Bilin to deliberate.
As the final count was uttered, a glint flashed in his eyes, his hand already reaching into his pocket.
Gulp...
To the surprise of the onlookers, the unexpected occurred.
Liao Bilin knelt.
Many had witnessed Su Weiwei entering the hotel arm in arm with Soong Fei. The Imperial Court Hotel attracted many of Jingjiang City's elite, and several recognized Su Weiwei.
When Su Weiwei's mother, her brother, and Liao Bilin showed up, a crowd gathered to watch the unfolding drama.
Liao Bilin's act of kneeling sent shockwaves through the crowd.
He was the face of the Liao family. Though not the wealthiest in Jingjiang City, the Liao family's influence was such that they could shake the city to its core.
And yet, Liao Bilin had truly knelt down!
As the crowd watched in disbelief, Soong Fei casually slapped Liao Bilin's cheek, "You've got talent, making a smart choice like that. Now scram!"
"Take note: from now on, steer clear of Weiwei. If you have the audacity to sabotage her behind the scenes, I'll ensure you won't have a body left to bury."
Liao Bilin quickly concurred, "Yes, but could you please tell me your name, sir?"
"You're not worthy of knowing."
Soong Fei's retort left Liao Bilin with an even more unsightly expression. He departed promptly with his entourage, a sour look on his face.
Stepping out of the hotel, he snarled, "Find out everything about that man, immediately."
Someone was dispatched on the task without delay.
Back in the hotel, Soong Fei addressed the lingering onlookers, "Disperse, all of you."
The crowd, sensing the situation, quietly dispersed, murmuring about the recent confrontation.
"Who's that young master? His presence is so intimidating."
...
Sixty minutes later, Liao Bilin, with a face dark as a storm cloud, listened to his subordinate's report.
Soong Fei, twenty-two, a Jingjiang University student.
His parents were simple rural folk with no connections, and he had a sister who was already married.
His subordinate nodded, his face ashen.
Liao Bilin asked in a deep tone, "Where is he now?"
"He just bought a ticket home to his parents."
"Thinks he can run?"
A sharp glint passed through Liao Bilin's eyes, "Prepare the car."
Shortly after, several vehicles departed from Jingjiang City. Inside one, Liao Bilin sent out a message that caused many faces to turn pale.
...
In the Imperial Court Hotel, Su Weiwei fixed her gaze on the phone, worry etched into her features.
After a silent pause, she picked up the note left by Soong Fei and dialed the number written on it.
As soon as the call connected, she spoke urgently, "Liao Bilin has your details. Send me your account number, and I'll wire you 450,000. Soong Fei, take your family and go into hiding immediately."
"I'll send you more money in a couple of days."
Soong Fei, lounging on the couch, listened to the frantic voice on the line.
He chuckled with ease, "I never knew you cared so much about me, rushing to pay me off like this."
"I'm not kidding you. If you don't leave Jingjiang City soon, it'll be too late. The Liao family is dangerous—they're capable of murder."
Su Weiwei was truly frantic, "Don't think I'm just trying to scare you. You're only a regular student; there's so much you don't understand."
"Thanks for the heads-up. If he really comes after me, it'll just be his bad luck."
Soong Fei ended the call, his eyes sharpening with resolve.
"The fool, if he dares to show up, I'll take him down."
His hand flipped, revealing a faint electric arc flickering between his fingers.
This was no static electricity!
By now, Soong Fei had gathered a small but potent force within himself.
Seven or eight average men wouldn't stand a chance against him.
If Liao Bilin wanted a confrontation, it was anyone's guess who would come out on top.
Soong Fei closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair, attuning himself to his surroundings. Despite the sparse spiritual energy on the Ancestral Star, he could still draw on it to grow stronger.
Thirty minutes later, Soong Fei stood at the village entrance, lost in thought.
For his parents,
It had been just over forty days since he'd been home.
Jingjiang City wasn't far from his family's place, a mere thirty-minute drive.
"Dad, Mom, Sis?"
He questioned inwardly, finally stepping toward the rural path.
Soong Fei had only been in the small mountain village for a short time when a middle-aged man approached him with purposeful strides. "Soong Fei, how's your father doing?"
Soong Fei was taken aback. "What happened to my dad?"
"You don't know?"
From a distance, another man called out to Soong Fei, "Chung, move it! If you're late, you'll miss out."
Chung, who had intended to talk more with Soong Fei, gave him a look.
"Call your sister immediately. She's taking your father to the doctor. I'll visit him once he's on the mend. Busy times."
With that, Chung hurried off.
As soon as Chung was gone, Soong Fei pulled out his phone, quickly located his sister's number, and dialed.
"The number you have dialed is currently powered off. Please try your call again later."
Soong Fei quickly redialed the number his brother-in-law had called from.
"The user you are trying to reach is busy..."
Next, he attempted to call his father, only to find that his phone was powered off as well. His mother's call, however, was still connected. Soong Fei's face went pale.
"Qi Family Town!"
A place suddenly came to mind.
Qi Family Town might be small, but it had gained fame due to a renowned traditional Chinese medicine hospital. The town's hospital boasted an old TCM practitioner, a master of the Apricot Forest Technique, who was considered a miraculous healer.
Patients from major cities would even travel there seeking his expertise.
Qi Family Town was a mere forty miles from Soong Fei's small mountain village, and it was the go-to medical center for any villager who fell ill.
Soong Fei hurried back home, hopped on his electric bike, and sped towards Qi Family Town.
Inside the clinic, Soong Li was full of apologies. "I'm sorry, I'm not the expert here, but let me clean that up for you."
