C17 The Villain in the Hospital

She immediately crouched down and extended her hand to help the young man clean his shoes.

The young man stepped back with a look of disgust and spat on his shoe. He glared at Soong Li and commanded, "Wipe it!"

Soong Li's eyes brimmed with hurt as she stared at the saliva on the shoe.

It wasn't her fault, yet the man was so overbearing, hardly behaving like a normal person.

Not wanting to provoke further issues, she reluctantly reached out to wipe the man's shoes.

As Soong Li tended to the young man's shoes, someone nearby murmured under their breath.

"It's outright bullying! Clearly, it was that man who bumped into Teacher Soong, causing her porridge to spill on his shoe."

"Keep it down. I noticed that guy came in a Lincoln with a provincial license plate. He's not someone we can afford to mess with."

While the onlookers whispered among themselves, Soong Li had already used her hands and sleeves to clean the young man's shoes thoroughly.

Bang!

The young man delivered a harsh kick that sent Soong Li sprawling to the ground, sneering, "Village trash, better watch where you're going next time."

Soong Fei, who had just arrived at the hospital, witnessed the scene unfold.

Fury surged within him; his sister Soong Li had always been a gentle soul.

"Don't move."

His voice was icy as he spoke. The young man, who had been striding forward, turned and fixed a piercing gaze on Soong Fei. "Are you talking to me?"

At that moment, Soong Li caught sight of Soong Fei. She hurried over to him, saying, "It's my fault."

She turned to the young man and apologized, "I'm sorry, my brother is still young. I'll apologize to you right away."

The young man looked at the Gu siblings with contempt, spat on his shoe once more, and pointed at Soong Li, "Come and wipe my shoes clean."

Soong Fei had held back from intervening, intending to inquire about the situation. But after witnessing the young man's behavior, he no longer felt the need to ask.

"Don't cause trouble."

As Soong Fei approached the young man, Soong Li quickly tugged at him.

"Sis, from now on, I promise no one will ever bully you again."

Soong Li stood frozen, sensing a profound change in her brother's gaze.

Soong Fei used to be introverted and shy, always dodging trouble when it came his way.

But what got into him today?

Caught in a moment of shock, Soong Fei had already shrugged off her hand and was striding toward the young man.

His gaze was icy, prompting the young man to instinctively retreat.

Lyi Yu, having stepped back, was seething with anger. He couldn't believe he'd been intimidated.

He glared at Soong Fei, furrowing his brow. "What do you want?"

"Apologize to my sister."

Soong Fei gestured to the spit on Lyi Yu's shoe. "Eat it."

"You're asking for it."

Lyi Yu swung his hand toward Soong Fei's face.

But then, a pitiful howl escaped Lyi Yu.

His face turned a ghastly pale, and onlookers instinctively recoiled several steps.

They all winced in sympathy; Lyi Yu's fingers were grotesquely bent.

"Do you know who I am?" Lyi Yu roared, pain lacing his voice.

Soong Fei's force had not only intensified Lyi Yu's agony but also left his fingers unbroken.

"You're a man with a serious condition," Soong Fei retorted coolly.

"Apologize to my sister now and swallow that spit, or else... you'll be left with only your right hand."

The pain made Lyi Yu's face turn an even deeper shade of gray, and Soong Fei's recent words fueled his rage.

He was a man of stature, usually flanked by bodyguards.

But Soong Fei had exposed his condition, something he wanted to keep hidden.

That's why he hadn't brought a bodyguard today, yet Soong Fei had aired his secret before an audience.

He was out of his depth in a fight, but that didn't stop him from boiling with fury. "You bastard, you're messing with the wrong person."

*Crack!*

A bone-chilling snap was followed by Lyi Yu's agonized screams.

His fingers... were now truly broken.

"Have you lost your mind?"

Soong Li charged forward, seizing Soong Fei. "Release him," she demanded, her voice filled with fury.

Soong Fei swiftly raised his leg and kicked Lyi Yu to the ground, his voice icy as he commanded, "Scram."

Sweat trickled down Lyi Yu's cheeks as he glared back at Soong Fei with malice.

"My name is Lyi Yu, from Blue Osmanthus Real Estate in the provincial capital. Remember that," he seethed before storming off, his face dark with anger.

Murmurs spread through the onlookers.

"That's Lyi Yu from Blue Osmanthus Real Estate. Isn't the chairman of that company also a Lyi?"

"Looks like Teacher Soong's family has big trouble brewing."

Amidst the whispers, Soong Li's eyes were fraught with concern. Blue Osmanthus Real Estate was a household name, headquartered in the provincial capital, with properties all over the province.

How could they possibly have a peaceful life after crossing someone like that?

"You…" Soong Li's eyes widened as she looked at Soong Fei. Though she was upset, she couldn't bring herself to scold him.

She understood that Soong Fei was standing up for her.

"Sis, don't worry about that guy. How's Dad doing?"

"Ah... Dad... Well..."

Soong Fei, sensing Soong Li's distress, pressed, "What's happened to Dad?"

Fuming, Soong Li replied, "Dad got hurt at work. I called that person, but he was dismissive and arrogant. Dad's too upset about the money to seek treatment. You need to talk to him. We'll sort out the finances."

Right now, Soong Fei's primary concern was his father's health. He didn't inquire about who his father had been working for or the nature of the injury. "Is Dad's injury serious?"

She nodded grimly, "He can't even get out of bed, but he's refusing the doctor's exams. We don't know the full extent of his condition. Let's go right now; I'll take you to see him."

"It's just a fall. I'll be fine after resting for a few days."

Upon reaching the hospital ward, Soong Fei overheard his father's voice.

Soong Li gently nudged Soong Fei and whispered, "Go in and talk to him, quickly."

Soong Fei strode into the room and caught sight of his father lying in the hospital bed, with his mother attending to him at his side. His eyes moistened slightly.

"Dad, Mom," he said gently, prompting both elders to turn toward him.

Tian Huizhen's face lit up with joy as she spoke urgently, "Please talk to your father; he's refusing to cooperate with the doctor's examination."

Soong Yuangui, his father, looked visibly annoyed. "Who called him over?"

He swiveled his head, fixing Soong Fei with a stare. "What are you doing home? Shouldn't you be in class?"

"Dad, school's out for the holidays. I came back just to see how you were doing."

After Soong Fei finished speaking, a notification from the system chimed in—Would you like to use the Nine Revolutions Mysterious Technique to treat him?

"Yes!" Soong Fei didn't hesitate in his choice, and a rush of information filled his mind instantly.

The old man's demeanor softened a bit upon hearing Soong Fei's explanation. "There's nothing wrong with me. Just handle the discharge paperwork, and I'll go home to recuperate."

Soong Li approached, her tone laced with irritation, "You're just worried about the cost. If the Wong family offered to pay, you'd surely agree to the treatment, wouldn't you?"

"Don't fret over the bills for the exams and treatment; I'll cover them," she assured.

At her insistence, the old man grew more agitated. "As if you have money to burn. Your younger brother hasn't even graduated yet."
