C2 The First Skill! Activate!
"Did it work?"
"Skill? Never drunk no matter how much I drink? What's that?"
Soong Fei was shocked!
He had only grabbed the girl in self-defense, never expecting to accidentally touch the pattern of a small jade wine cup.
"So, mere physical contact isn't enough. I have to hold it for about ten seconds to complete the collection..."
Before Soong Fei could celebrate, the current predicament overwhelmed him with helplessness.
The nearby passengers, stirred up by Su Weiwei, glared at him with scorn!
This was it; he was done for!
Now he really looked like a pervert!
Racking his brain, he offered a helpless smile and said, "Fine, if you want to call me a pervert, go ahead. You can say what you like, but please, not here! I only intervened because I saw you with the pepper spray through the car window. I was worried you might accidentally harm the child."
He gestured towards the woman sitting next to Su Weiwei, who cradled an infant in her arms.
Su Weiwei paused, taken aback.
She had given up her seat to that woman, but she had indeed failed to consider the risk to the infant.
And Soong Fei hadn't really done anything inappropriate; his only misstep involved the pepper spray.
For a moment, she wavered, unsure whether to trust him.
Seeing Su Weiwei's hesitation, Soong Fei knew he had gambled correctly.
She was clearly a compassionate person.
So, he simply released her hand.
Eager to clear his name, Soong Fei earnestly added, "Miss, I assure you, I'm not a pervert. I was staring because you looked... familiar."
Su Weiwei had been through similar situations before; her beauty often attracted unwanted attention.
She could practically recite the pickup lines by heart.
Sure enough, they were all clichés!
She cut him off, "Let me guess, you think I look like your ex-girlfriend, right?"
Soong Fei chuckled, "No, you resemble a girl my friend wanted to set me up with. He showed me her photo; her name is Weiwei."
Su Weiwei froze.
What the heck! Can it really be such a coincidence?
"What's her last name?"
"Chen."
"Oh, okay then..."
Su Weiwei was genuinely startled.
She dreaded the thought that Soong Fei might be a friend of a friend; that would be incredibly awkward.
She had been through plenty of similar situations, with people constantly asking her roommates to pass along her WeChat, share her number, engineer chance encounters, inquire about her birthday, and more.
A relentless barrage of unwanted attention—it was exhausting to fend off!
Just take today, for instance. She was heading to a childhood friend's birthday party when, right outside the school gates, a rich second-generation guy was waiting by his luxury car, insisting on giving her a ride.
It was obvious that yet another roommate had been bought off and leaked her plans.
Su Weiwei was beyond fed up!
So when Soong Fei mentioned a "friend" had set him up with a girlfriend named Weiwei, she wasn't shocked. It was just that she had barely managed to turn one guy down, only to encounter another with hidden agendas on the bus. The constant harassment was downright maddening!
Thankfully, this was a different story.
This other person was Chen Weiwei, not her.
But before she could breathe a sigh of relief, Soong Fei added, "Oh, my friend's last name is Chen."
Su Weiwei: "..."
Seriously? Who the hell asked for your friend's last name? I was asking about the Weiwei you mentioned!
Whatever!
Better not to ask!
As long as you don't say it, I won't have to feel awkward...
"My girlfriend's last name is Su, Su Weiwei."
Soong Fei flashed a bright, sincere smile, showing off his perfectly aligned teeth. "You and my girlfriend really do look alike."
Su Weiwei nearly lost it!
What was he playing at? Did he find this amusing?
Who the hell did he think he was, calling her his girlfriend? Utterly shameless!
She was at her wit's end!
Her patience shattered, she had no desire to engage with Soong Fei any longer.
Her experience had taught her that some guys just don't get it—the more you interact with them, even if it's to tell them off, the more they thrive on it!
Clearly, the boy's behavior right in front of her pegged him as someone with a remarkably thick skin!
Unapproachable, yet easily avoided!
Su Weiwei casually turned her head away, signaling she wasn't going to press the issue.
"Oh, I'm not familiar with the people you're talking about. Since it's all a misunderstanding, let's drop it."
"Mm."
Soong Fei acknowledged.
Noticing the hostility from those around him dissipate, he had no interest in dragging out the encounter.
Though Su Weiwei was undoubtedly attractive, flirting was the last thing on his mind.
He needed to check out his new loot!
Now, that was the real treasure!
After a thorough examination, Soong Fei was certain: this wasn't a figment of his imagination; it was actually happening!
With a mere thought, he could effortlessly unfold or retract the virtual panel.
The collected rewards were promptly delivered, which was impressively reliable, except for this "never getting drunk" feature... that was a bit of a headache.
When it came to treasure hunting, he didn't have to fret about losing his way. Even if he were too inebriated to distinguish north from south, all he had to do was follow the line connecting the red and blue markers to find his target.
The interface had already clearly laid out the treasure refresh rules.
It was all random!
Time, location, quantity, type of treasure—everything was up in the air!
Meaning, it might refresh once a year, or several could pop up at once.
A treasure could surface nearby or deep in the Pacific.
The treasures he gathered could be filled with varying sums of money or other valuable items...
What was this, exactly? It seemed a tad unreliable.
But having just experienced a windfall, Soong Fei was quite bullish on his treasure hunting prospects.
Plus, the luck panel had explicitly stated that the success rate for obtaining treasures post-collection was a solid 100%!
"I wonder when the next refresh will happen..."
As the thought crossed his mind, a sudden "ding-dong" echoed in his head.
[Target refreshed!]
[Planning automatic navigation route...]
With a single thought, Soong Fei summoned the virtual navigation panel.
The red dot marking the destination on his map was unexpectedly close to his upcoming train stop.
Just then, his phone buzzed to life.
It was Chen Le, his best friend, calling.
He answered.
Chen Le's voice, full of righteous indignation, came through: "Fei, don't bother coming today, I'll take you out for a meal another time!"
"Why?" Soong Fei inquired.
"Ugh, it's all on me. Remember I had a friend check out Lee Qian for you? Well, that friend ended up hitting it off with her and now she's here at my birthday bash! They're bad-mouthing you as we speak. You'd be uncomfortable if you showed up..."
"Okay."
Soong Fei was at a loss for words.
He had completely written off Lee Qian, even despising her for toying with people's emotions.
Who she was with didn't matter to him.
But the fact that they were using him as gossip fodder and trash-talking him behind his back? That was seriously maddening!
With a tone of regret, Chen Le said, "Fei, I'm really sorry about this. I'll make it up to you with my friend and apologize properly!"
"No worries, we're tight. It's noisy here, so I'm going to hang up, alright?"
"OK!"
Ending the call, Soong Fei exhaled slowly, redirecting his attention to the treasure hunt on his navigation app.
To hell with love!
The real treasure was in the hunt and the money to be made!
