C21 Soong Li Was Nervous

He stepped forward and pressed on, "Do you know who my uncle is?"

"My uncle is none other than Liao Bilin, the boss of the Liao's company in Jingjiang City. The Soong family is done for."

Without a second thought, Soong Li glanced at Soong Fei, a weight like a hundred-ton boulder crushing her chest.

The Wong family was a renowned farm owner in the county. After Soong Yuangui was injured while pruning fruit on their property, the Wongs turned a blind eye, leaving Soong Li with no choice but to grit her teeth and bear the pain in silence.

It hadn't crossed her mind that her brother had managed to anger the junior boss of the Liao family from the city, and to make matters worse, the Wongs and Liaos were kin.

The Wongs alone were a force to be reckoned with, and now they were faced with the even more formidable Liao family.

Panic set in.

Ou Liangjian was completely bewildered, yet he didn't look back at Soong Fei, instead gathering his wits about him.

He faced Wong Xinzhong, Liao Bilin, and the rest, asserting, "Soong Fei is out. I'm his brother-in-law. Whatever the issue, you can discuss it with me."

Ou Liangjian was known for his integrity, but in that moment, he took a stand. Unaware of the trouble Soong Fei had stirred up, he was determined to face it head-on.

"Do you think I'm blind?" Liao Bilin interjected, his gaze fixed on Soong Fei, "Kid, I've already warned you that you wouldn't live to see tomorrow's sunrise. Did you really think you could hide from disaster by fleeing to the countryside?"

Soong Fei met Liao Bilin's stare and responded icily, "I was actually planning to come looking for you."

"Heh..." Liao Bilin let out a cold chuckle, "Still playing tough, kid?"

"If you kneel now and beg for forgiveness, you might not see the sunrise tomorrow. But if you refuse to kneel and kowtow, your family will join you on your journey to the afterlife."

"I'll count to three. If you don't kneel, you'll face the consequences."

With that, Liao Bilin started counting.

When he finished, his eyes turned venomous, "Good, let's have a little fun with this."

The Central Hospital in Qi Family Town is renowned far and wide, and I just so happen to be acquainted with Elder Qi. You'll soon find yourselves ejected from the hospital.

Step outside, and who knows? You might just find yourselves in a car accident.

Soong Li and Ou Liangjian were thrown into a state of panic upon hearing his words.

Liao Bilin's true identity was clearly complex, and no one could be certain whether his brazen threats would materialize.

Nevertheless, Soong Li and her husband were frightened.

In desperation, Ou Liangjian pleaded, "Mr. Liao, Soong Fei is just a child; he doesn't understand what's going on. If he has inadvertently offended you, I will kneel and bow my head to you right now. Could you please forgive him just this once?"

"And who are you, exactly?" Liao Bilin gave Ou Liangjian a dismissive glance before turning to leave, clearly intent on seeking out Elder Qi.

As he turned, Elder Qi appeared, approaching them.

Liao Bilin quickly approached him, "Elder Qi, I have a personal issue with one of your patients. I don't dare handle it within the hospital. Could you possibly discharge him early?"

Many influential figures from Jingjiang City seek out Elder Qi in Qi Family Town for treatment when they're injured.

Liao Bilin, the young scion, wouldn't dare show Elder Qi any disrespect, yet he was confident that Elder Qi would grant him some consideration.

Elder Qi's face was a picture of displeasure. He had hurried over upon learning that someone was causing trouble for Soong Fei.

He was inclined to give Liao Bilin a stern lesson, but remembering Soong Fei's instructions, he knew his master preferred to keep a low profile.

"Mr. Liao, have you come here to stir up trouble?" he asked.

At Elder Qi's words, Liao Bilin's face blanched. He quickly responded, "You misunderstand, Elder Qi. That was not my intention at all."

"I believe it was," Elder Qi countered, turning to his son. "Take down the names of all the patients and their relatives today. If anyone is harmed, we'll pay a visit to the Liao family in Jingjiang City."

Elder Qi's statement left Liao Bilin looking even more mortified, silently cursing himself for not having paid his respects to Elder Qi sooner.

With Elder Qi's stern warning, if anyone persisted in harassing Soong Fei, and Elder Qi took it upon himself to pay a visit to the Liao family, they would find themselves in deep trouble. Elder Qi's extensive network meant that if he set his sights on taking down the Liao family, they might not be able to hold their ground.

In a tone laced with urgency, he said, "Elder Qi, you've got it all wrong."

Wong Xinzhong quickly chimed in, "Elder Qi, Young Master Liao didn't come here to make trouble. It was Soong Fei who stirred up issues with him in Jingjiang City."

With a swift motion, Elder Qi's hand connected with Wong Xinzhong's cheek with a resounding smack. "Are you suggesting I'm senile, unable to discern the facts?" he challenged.

Turning to his son, he commanded, "Take note of the name Soong Fei. If he or his family come to any harm, we'll take our grievances directly to the Liao family in Jingjiang City."

Liao Bilin's eyes darkened as he glared at Wong Xinzhong, realizing that any further attempts to antagonize Soong Fei would only complicate matters.

Wong Xinzhong, nursing a stinging cheek and feeling utterly aggrieved, withdrew to one side.

It was then that Soong Fei spoke up, "Elder Qi, my father was injured while working for the Wong family. They showed no concern for him and even assaulted my brother-in-law. I implore you to intervene."

His words sent a wave of fear through Soong Li and Ou Liangjian.

Both Liao Bilin and Wong Xinzhong had been reprimanded by Elder Qi, whose mood was clearly soured.

Soong Fei continued, "Elder Qi, isn't this an unwarranted provocation?"

Elder Qi's previous statement had already spared the Soong family from Liao Bilin's harassment. Why wasn't Soong Fei content?

Nervously, Liao Bilin and Wong Xinzhong watched Elder Qi, filled with both anxiety and a glimmer of hope. They could sense that Elder Qi was not in the best of spirits today.

Seizing the moment, Soong Fei declared, "This is clearly an opportunity."

The pair were counting on Elder Qi to give Soong Fei a stern talking-to before expelling him and his family from the hospital.

Once Soong Fei's family was ousted, Liao Bilin had myriad ways to make Soong Fei's life miserable.

Amidst Liao Bilin and company's anticipation and Soong Li's anxiety, Elder Qi spoke up, "Mr. Soong, are you looking to negotiate a resolution, or shall we proceed with legal action?"

Liao Bilin and the others were taken aback. It seemed Elder Qi was genuinely inclined to stand up for Soong Fei.

In a deep, measured tone, Soong Fei responded, "Legal action means compensation, and someone has to be apprehended."

Elder Qi gave a nod, "No need to fret. Your father is in my care at this hospital. I'll have someone handle this situation."

Wong Xinzhong's face turned ashen upon hearing this.

The Wong family had their connections, but they paled in comparison to Elder Qi.

He glanced at Liao Bilin, standing beside him.

Liao Bilin was at a loss to discern Elder Qi's true intentions.

He certainly didn't have the nerve to interfere further.

"Elder Qi, I admit my fault today. I let greed cloud my judgment. I'll come by to apologize formally another time," Liao Bilin said, eager to avoid further disaster, and quickly made his exit.

Wong Xinzhong internally seethed with curses. He had come to the hospital at Liao Bilin's behest.

Liao Bilin had located Soong Fei's residence, but came up empty-handed, which led him to call upon the Wong family for assistance.

Little did Wong Xinzhong expect that bringing Liao Bilin to confront the Soong family would result in such a costly debacle.
