C4 Drink? I'm Good!
Soong Fei had been ready to throw a punch, but with Su Weiwei stepping forward, he opted to bide his time and watch how things unfolded.
The three guys in the private room had the air of wealth about them, with luxury car keys strewn across the table... Surely, they weren't just fancy lighters.
To everyone's surprise, Su Weiwei, not recognizing any of them, was boldly confrontational, her fiery temper on full display.
"Don't you understand plain English?" she challenged, her brow furrowed in clear annoyance.
Zhang Li surreptitiously tugged at the boy beside her, likely her boyfriend.
The boy, finally snapping to attention, cleared his throat and attempted to defuse the situation. "Hey, we're all friends of Chen Le here. Let's not let a joke sour the mood. Miss, allow me to offer you three toasts as an apology..."
He began to open a bottle of Maotai, but before he could pour, Su Weiwei cut in, unyielding, "I'm sorry, but my whole family are farmers. She insulted all of us. Do you really think I can let that slide?"
Zhang Li was visibly agitated now.
She noticed her boyfriend was showing a bit too much interest in Su Weiwei. She couldn't afford to let Su Weiwei charm the wealthy heir she had worked so hard to hook.
Standing up, she snapped, "We've already apologized. What more do you want? Don't push your luck. Do you have any idea who my boyfriend is?"
Su Weiwei remained silent, not out of a loss for words, but with an air of disdain that made it clear she was above such petty squabbles. Throughout the entire exchange, she maintained her composure.
Pulling out her phone, Su Weiwei dialed Chen Le's number with authority. "Fatty, get to room 888... Cut the chit-chat and move it!"
Within seconds, Chen Le bounded out from the neighboring room. His robust frame moved with unexpected agility, reminiscent of Hong Jinbao. He arrived still clutching his wine glass, evidently having dashed over without a moment's hesitation.
Upon spotting Soong Fei, Chen Le paused briefly, but there was no time for pleasantries with his buddy. His attention quickly turned to Su Weiwei, and with an embarrassed grin, he said, "Oh man, sis, who's gone and ruffled your feathers now?"
Soong Fei was taken aback. He couldn't recall ever seeing Chen Le go out of his way for anyone like this. Even the girls Chen Le had claimed were his "true loves" had never managed to get him this worked up.
As Chen Le's hefty frame moved closer, Soong Fei found himself inadvertently shielded from view.
"She cursed out my whole family!"
Su Weiwei accused, pointing at Zhang Li.
"Damn it!"
Chen Le erupted in anger, his face seething with fury as he confronted Zhang Li's boyfriend. "Old Gao, get this bitch out of here, now!"
Old Gao could see the genuine rage in Chen Le and knew it was decision time.
It was a no-brainer; he'd side with his brother.
Zhang Li was nothing more than a small fry in his dating pool, just a casual fling!
But instead of kicking Zhang Li out right away, Old Gao stood up abruptly and delivered a resounding slap across her face!
The sound echoed sharply.
Zhang Li clutched her cheek, staring at her boyfriend in shock, utterly dumbfounded.
"I've put up with you for far too long! Apologize to this lady right now, or you'll regret it!" Old Gao bellowed, jabbing a finger at her nose.
Zhang Li was dumbstruck.
Endured me? They had just met the night before!
And last night, he had been nothing but sweet. The tears started to flow... What a jerk!
Su Weiwei was far from flattered by Old Gao's sudden chivalry. She made no effort to conceal her disgust, waving them off with a flick of her hand. "Both of you, out of my sight!"
"Right, right, right. She's leaving, this instant!"
Old Gao pulled the sobbing Zhang Li towards the exit.
As he passed Chen Le, Chen Le murmured with a pained look, "Old Gao, stay away for now. I'll explain over the phone."
Old Gao paused, puzzled. What did this have to do with him?
Chen Le gave Old Gao's shoulder a resigned pat. "Just go."
Chen Le then glanced at the rest of the group before turning back to Soong Fei. He seemed to hesitate, then offered, "Brother Fei, come on in and take a seat. Feel free to order anything you like."
Initially, Chen Le was concerned that Soong Fei might feel out of place.
However, after the incident with Zhang Li, Chen Le realized that with Su Weiwei's support, Soong Fei was in good hands, which put his mind at ease.
Chen Le had clearly misinterpreted why Zhang Li had angered Su Weiwei, mistakenly thinking that Zhang Li had been stirring up trouble by speaking ill of Soong Fei, prompting Su Weiwei's ire.
Soong Fei offered an apologetic, "Sorry, Fatty. I've caused you some trouble."
With a hint of significance, Chen Le responded, "Looking after my sister is the top priority. I'm entrusting Sister Weiwei to you. I've got to run."
"Fatty!"
Su Weiwei shot Chen Le a sharp look.
Chen Le scurried off like a mouse under a cat's gaze, faster than a fleeing dog!
With Old Gao and Zhang Li gone, calm returned to the room, though an awkward tension lingered.
There had been a collective misunderstanding.
Seeing Soong Fei arrive with Su Weiwei, everyone assumed they were friends and that Su Weiwei's anger was sparked by overhearing negative comments about Soong Fei. They picked on Zhang Li as a scapegoat, a tactic to serve as a warning to the rest.
With Zhang Li, the proverbial chicken, gone, the remaining five monkeys fell silent as if it were winter.
Soong Fei couldn't help but wonder about Su Weiwei's clout—how could she command such natural authority?
They took their seats.
Su Weiwei offered a courteous smile, "Thank you for your patience. Let's begin the meal."
It dawned on everyone that Su Weiwei was the esteemed guest Chen Le had referred to.
Before her arrival, they had all been waiting for her.
With everyone gathered, the meal commenced.
The two heirs were exceedingly attentive to Su Weiwei, fawning over her as one might over a superior, offering toasts and compliments.
Su Weiwei, not a drinker, preferred a soft drink instead.
But Soong Fei stepped up to drink on her behalf.
Su Weiwei looked on with disdain, thinking, "Seriously, does this guy really see himself as my boyfriend-to-be?"
She repeatedly tried to dissuade Soong Fei, but he was resolute, "No! You stood up for me, and I must reciprocate!"
Su Weiwei swiftly set the record straight, "Who helped you? I'm just really annoyed with her!"
Soong Fei replied, "I get it, I totally get it!"
Su Weiwei rolled her eyes in exasperation. What do you 'get'? It's like you're implying there's some kind of story between us!
But Soong Fei was dead set on drinking, and she had no interest in talking him out of it.
What did she care, anyway? She was just looking forward to a hearty meal, catching up with Chen Le, and then heading home to conquer some levels in King of Kings... Yeah, she was determined to hit diamond rank tonight!
Truth be told, Soong Fei was no drinker, especially when it came to white wine.
Yet, he had his reasons for indulging.
As soon as he entered the private room, he spotted the treasure's refresh point.
This time, the treasure had randomly appeared on the face of Lee Qian's boyfriend. What it was remained a mystery.
Before, it was "a thousand cups won't make me drunk!" Now, what... was he just going to be brushed off again?
But right now, Soong Fei couldn't be bothered with the details... as long as he got something! He was so broke he jingled when he walked. What if it was cash? That would be a windfall! And from all the novels he'd read, he'd never heard of luck being stingy.
Here was the dilemma!
How do you collect a treasure that's appeared on someone's face?
Slapping faces was easy enough, but the collection had to be maintained for a good ten seconds!
Touching another guy's face... wouldn't that be way too awkward?
Even if he was okay with it, the other guy surely wouldn't be!
So, the solution was to drink!
Once drunk, any bizarre behavior could be excused!
Without the booze, Soong Fei had no play.
So, he steeled himself for the task at hand.
All for the treasure!
Drink! Chug!
Hold on!
But then Soong Fei had a jolt of realization! Hadn't he just received a treasure reward?
He couldn't help but let a sly smile creep across his lips.
