C6 Sorry I Don't Know Her

Mu Xiaoxiao's panic was immediate as she clung to Jiang Nan, pleading, "Aren't I the one you love most?"

Jiang Nan shook her off with a frosty dismissal, "I said get lost!"

"No, no, no, that's not it. Let me explain, please!"

"He told you to get lost!" Jiang Shuangshuang's face was as cold as ice.

Defeated, Mu Xiaoxiao collapsed to her knees, her manipulative nature laid bare for all to see.

Fuh Yong continued to kowtow, seemingly awaiting a verdict.

Jiang Shuangshuang glanced at Jiang Nan, waiting for his directive.

Stepping forward with an air of authority, Jiang Nan towered over the scene. "Crushing you is as easy as stepping on an ant, but I am magnanimous! Now scram!"

With those words, Fuh Yong scuttled away like a frightened mouse.

"Thanks, Second elder sister," Jiang Nan said, turning to Jiang Shuangshuang.

"You're thanking me?" Jiang Shuangshuang fixed him with a stern gaze.

"No, no, I mean, go on with your business, Second elder sister. I'm off to eat."

Her icy demeanor thawed slightly as she instructed, "Finish your meal and then get straight to cleaning up." Her voice left no room for argument.

The group entered the grand hall and were instantly awestruck.

The private room was vast, with intricate and traditional decor. The backdrop was a majestic root carving of a dragon, so lifelike it seemed ready to burst into the heavens with a single stroke.

Lee Meng and his companions, stripped of their usual bravado, sat down with restraint.

Zhou Cheng, on the other hand, appeared utterly composed as he took a seat next to Jiang Nan.

The table was a feast for the eyes, laden with delicacies from land and sea.

Top-grade Wagyu, Boston lobsters – every imaginable luxury was presented with grandeur.

Leaning in, Zhou Cheng murmured to Jiang Nan, "You little rascal, a Rich Second Generation, huh? You've had me fooled for so long."

Jiang Nan was about to respond with a grin when Lee Meng burst in, "Zhou Cheng! How dare you speak to Young Master Jiang like that?"

As the old adage goes, "The rich have distant relatives in the deep mountains," and Lee Meng's complete turnaround in attitude was a clear attempt to ingratiate himself with Jiang Nan.

The others, too, had lost their earlier swagger, chiming in with agreement and pointing fingers at Zhou Cheng.

Truth be told, aside from Lee Meng, none of them had actually heard a word Zhou Cheng said.

"Smack!"

Jiang Nan slammed his hand down on the table and declared, "This is my brother, and it's not your place to judge!"

He then turned to Zhou Cheng with an apologetic grin, "Sorry about that. I wanted to blend in as just another guy, but I guess that didn't pan out..."

Jiang Nan let the sentence hang, a strategic pause.

Zhou Cheng gave Jiang Nan's shoulder a reassuring pat, demonstrating his broad-mindedness. He didn't think any less of Jiang Nan for his lack of wealth, nor did he suck up to him for his lofty status.

The meal was a joyous affair for Zhou Cheng and Jiang Nan alone, while the rest merely nodded along, occasionally trying to interject, only to be put in their place by Jiang Nan's sharp retorts.

Mid-meal, Lee Meng felt the urgent call of nature and excused himself to the restroom. How could such a refined private room lack a bathroom? It was simply that Jiang Nan was currently using it, and who was Lee Meng to challenge him for it?

The restroom itself boasted a distinctive decor, with wooden floors and walls adorned with intricate dragon and phoenix carvings—less imposing than the root carvings of the wooden dragon, but impressive nonetheless.

In the midst of his business, Lee Meng overheard a voice from outside.

"Damn, is the bathroom always this crowded? What, is everyone in there eating sh*t, just standing around and not coming out?" The voice was coarse and gruff.

"What's all the yelling about? Go eat your own damn sh*t!" Lee Meng shot back without hesitation.

Under normal circumstances, he would have bitten his tongue, but now, with Jiang Nan in his corner and Fuh Yong, that jerk, out of his league, Lee Meng didn't see anyone else worth his concern.

After all, the other guy had probably left by then.

Having taken care of his needs, Lee Meng stepped out only to be taken aback.

There stood a towering 1.87-meter-tall, tattoo-covered hulk of a man!

"Little punk, what did you just say?"

Lee Meng felt a twinge of fear, but with his words already out there and Jiang Nan's support, he stood his ground, retorting, "I didn't take anything from you!"

The burly man shot Lee Meng a furious glare as he entered, growling, "You little punk, you're gonna regret this!"

With a resounding slam, the door shut behind him.

Lee Meng feigned ease as he returned to the private room, grabbed a glass of wine, and sidled up to Jiang Nan. "Mr. Nan, here's to you," he offered, raising his glass.

Jiang Nan just gave Lee Meng a hard look, saying nothing.

That stare sent shivers down Lee Meng's spine!

Suddenly, the door burst open with a crash.

"Big bro, they're in here!"

Before Jiang Nan could get a good look, a swarm of ruffians poured in, filling the room with their menacing presence.

Jiang Nan's eyes quickly took in the scene: most were tough-looking youths in black tank tops and chunky gold chains, some with knife scars marking their faces like badges of the local toughs.

The big man jabbed a finger at Lee Meng and taunted, "You're quite the actor, aren't you, punk? Let's see if you can repeat what you just said!"

Confused, Jiang Nan watched as all eyes turned to Lee Meng.

Trembling, Lee Meng ducked behind Jiang Nan and bluffed, "Don't get cocky! Mr. Nan here is Director Jiang's little brother. Cross him, and you'll be in a world of trouble!"

The gangsters erupted into laughter.

"Director Jiang doesn't have a brother!" the big man bellowed. "Today, I'll take care of you and your 'big brother,' and maybe then Director Jiang will take notice of me!"

Zhou Cheng glared at Lee Meng with disdain. "You got yourself into this mess, you deal with it!"

He had no respect for Lee Meng and his ilk, looking down on them as if they were nothing.

Realizing Lee Meng had indeed stirred up trouble, Jiang Nan wanted no part in a beating. He pulled out his phone and dialed Jiang Shuangshuang.

"What's this, scared?" the big man mocked. "Calling the cops? Waste of time! Today, no matter who shows up, you're all getting a beating!"

He advanced on Jiang Nan, his goons in tow.

"Hey, Second elder sister! Some thugs are after me! Don't know them, but they look like trouble. Alright, I'll hand the phone over!"

Jiang Nan passed his phone forward.

"With that piece of junk, who do you think you're gonna call?" scoffed the burly man with clear contempt.

But the beauty of such a lousy phone was its loud receiver.

The big man heard a woman's voice—it sounded like Jiang Shuangshuang.

Taking a call was no big deal, and if it really was Jiang Shuangshuang, he had nothing to lose.

"Hello! This is Hu Sanlong speaking! Ah!?" Hu Sanlong suddenly became timid, crossing his legs and bowing like a child caught in a misdeed.

"Yes, Director Jiang! I understand, it was a moment of rashness on my part. I apologize, truly. Please, Director Jiang, forgive me. Absolutely, yes!"

As these words spilled out, the thugs were stunned.

They hadn't imagined that this seemingly destitute kid was actually Director Jiang's little brother!

"My apologies, Young Master Jiang. I sincerely regret the misunderstanding," said one of the thugs, bowing to Jiang Nan.

Before Jiang Nan could respond, Lee Meng leaped forward and slapped Hu Sanlong across the face.

"That's for crossing Mr. Nan!"

Hu Sanlong hung his head even lower, murmuring, "Absolutely, you're right. I, Xiaolong, deserve punishment for disrespecting Young Master Jiang's friend."

Jiang Nan pointed at Zhou Cheng and clarified, "You've got it wrong. I have only one friend, and that's him. I don't know this guy!"

The crowd murmured in surprise at his declaration.

Hu Sanlong's eyes gleamed as he stood up straighter.

Lee Meng, panicked, pleaded, "Mr. Nan, please, don't do this! What are you doing? Let me go—I'm Mr. Nan's friend, let me go!"

A swarm of ruffians grabbed Lee Meng and hauled him away.

Jiang Nan paid no attention to Lee Meng's plight, knowing full well that he had brought it upon himself.
