C9 Received a Good Review!

"Take your time, Uncle Wang. As long as you're on board, that's all that matters."

Du Binn couldn't contain his excitement. He had managed to persuade Uncle Wang with a bowl of his Golden Egg Fried Rice. And with the financial support still a few days away, there was no need to rush. The important thing was that Uncle Wang agreed to help with the renovations.

"Okay, I'll leave you to your business then."

Uncle Wang didn't want to get in the way of Du Binn's work, especially since such a big deal didn't come around often. He would feel guilty if his presence caused any inconvenience to Du Binn's customers.

"Thanks a lot, Uncle Wang. I'll swing by your place later to discuss the details of the job."

Uncle Wang simply nodded, waved goodbye, and headed out.

"Uncle Wang, since I have a customer, I won't walk you out. Take it easy."

With that, Du Binn went back to the courtyard. Song Jia, seeing him come in, couldn't help but ask, "Boss, what's the secret to your Golden Egg Fried Rice? It's unlike any other I've had."

Song Jia's curiosity had gotten the best of her, leading her to try the Golden Egg Fried Rice before the Sweet Osmanthus Lotus Seed Porridge. She was astounded by the dish's exceptional quality—the rice was tender and the flavor was simply divine.

Caught off guard by her question, Du Binn was momentarily speechless. But before he could respond, the old man chimed in.

"Jiajia, you shouldn't ask such things. If he gives away his secrets, how can he continue to run his business?"

The old man had inquired about the recipe before, and Du Binn had been vague, leaving them without the answers they sought. The old man suspected Du Binn was being evasive to keep his recipe a secret.

Truthfully, Du Binn wasn't withholding the secret on purpose; he just hadn't had a chance to process the question. His technique was the same as always, but the difference lay in the special utensils and ingredients provided by the system.

"It's really nothing out of the ordinary, just regular egg fried rice. The only difference is in my technique and timing," Du Binn explained to Song Jia with frankness. However, his response was as good as no answer at all, leaving Song Jia quite disappointed.

Du Binn felt a bit perplexed. He had completed the task, so why hadn't the system granted him a reward? He silently called out in his mind, "System, system..." But there was no response. As Du Binn stood there, puzzled, the elderly gentleman approached.

"Young man, your Golden Egg Fried Rice is truly exceptional, even tastier than what they serve at five-star hotels," he complimented.

"Thank you for the compliment, sir," Du Binn replied.

The old man continued, "I see great potential in you, young man, so I'll make the offer once more. I want you to be my exclusive chef, and you can name your price."

Song Jia, overhearing this, became anxious and interjected, "Grandfather, is that really appropriate? What if he..."

"There's no need for further discussion. I've made up my mind," the old man cut her off before she could finish.

He understood Song Jia's concern; if Du Binn asked for an exorbitant salary, he would have no choice but to accept. He had given his word, after all. But he wasn't worried. Du Binn was a rare find, and his cooking was beneficial to the old man's health. No price was too high for that.

The old man had previously invited Du Binn, who had declined, leading him to believe his initial offer was too low. After tasting Du Binn's Golden Egg Fried Rice today, he was even more determined to hire him, no matter the cost, to have Du Binn as his private chef and enjoy his cooking at his leisure.

However, things didn't go as the old man had hoped. Du Binn turned him down once again.

"I appreciate your offer, but my answer remains the same. If you'd like to enjoy my cooking, you're welcome anytime. I truly have no plans to leave," Du Binn said.

The old man couldn't hide his displeasure. This was the second time Du Binn had rejected his offer. If it weren't for the fact that Du Binn's cooking was exactly to his taste, he wouldn't have been so persistent.

At that moment, Song Jia was seething with anger. She pointed at Du Binn and lashed out, "Boss, you really don't know when you're well off. My grandfather recognized your talent and was willing to take you under his wing. Yet here you are, acting all high and mighty. It's outrageous!"

Unable to contain her fiery temper, Song Jia let loose a torrent of harsh words.

"If you're too good for us, then don't bother coming to eat. It's not like I begged you to."

Du Binn fixed Song Jia with an icy glare, an intimidating aura emanating from him.

Song Jia involuntarily shuddered under Du Binn's intense gaze, having never experienced such an overwhelming presence before—not even from her grandfather, who commanded respect in the business world.

The old man's face soured. Despite Song Jia defending him, he didn't want to lose someone as talented as Du Binn, especially since Du Binn's cooking was irresistibly delicious. Offending Du Binn now could mean never savoring those exquisite dishes again.

He rebuked her, "Jia Jia, that's no way to talk. Apologize to the boss this instant."

"I won't! I said nothing wrong," she retorted before running off in tears.

Song Jia was fuming. She'd been reprimanded by her grandfather numerous times over Du Binn, and today, she felt it was Du Binn who was in the wrong. Why should she apologize?

The old man hadn't anticipated such a strong reaction from Song Jia, nor the situation escalating to this point. He turned to Du Binn with an embarrassed look and said, "Young man, I apologize for earlier. My granddaughter has been spoiled by me."

"Old man, don't worry about it. I won't stoop to her level. If you enjoy my cooking, you're welcome back anytime. I'm committed to providing the best service to all my guests," Du Binn responded graciously.

Du Binn's humility took the old man by surprise, prompting him to extend the same courtesy and not hold Song Jia's outburst against her.

Relieved by Du Binn's response, the old man was pleased. He knew how good Du Binn's food was for his health and wanted to continue dining there. The last thing he wanted was to let a fleeting moment of discord come between them.

"Alright, that's settled then. I'll come back another day," the elderly gentleman said as he rose to leave.

Thanks to Du Binn's Sweet Osmanthus Lotus Seed Porridge, he had grown considerably stronger and no longer required assistance to walk.

"Take care, sir. We look forward to your next visit," Du Binn replied warmly.

No sooner had Du Binn seen the old man off than a crisp voice rang in his ears.
