C18 A Wonderful First Meeting

Because Wang Jun refused to apologize, Zhang Ya decisively instructed the security guards to escort both Wang Jun and his father, Wang Bowei, out of the venue.

The banquet quickly resumed its lively atmosphere, with guests engaging in animated conversations about the Wang father and son duo, their laughter and chatter contributing to the festive ambiance.

Shortly after the security team had escorted Wang Bowei and his son away, Zhang Ya also made her exit. Before leaving, she made a point to say goodbye to Wang Feng.

Zhang Ya's parting greeting to Wang Feng left Hua Moying giving him the cold shoulder for the rest of the evening. Wang Feng was inwardly torn between amusement and confusion.

What had he done to deserve this?

As the clock stealthily approached 10:30, Wang Feng, feeling the dullness of the evening, finally mustered the courage to ask, "Ms. Hua, when shall we head out? It's getting quite late."

Hua Moying, slightly tipsy, responded with a silly smile, "Soon. Just ten more minutes."

After ten minutes, Hua Moying began saying her goodbyes, and she and Wang Feng departed together.

Once they were back in the car and Wang Feng had started the engine, he turned his attention to Hua Moying. A mischievous glint appeared in his eyes as he asked, "Ms. Hua, have you had too much to drink?"

"Not at all, I was faking it!" Hua Moying quickly responded, her tone icy but her gaze lucid, showing no signs of inebriation.

At her words, Wang Feng felt a twinge of disappointment.

He had entertained the thought of some playful flirtation, but his hopes were dashed.

Throughout the drive, Wang Feng engaged in sporadic conversation with Hua Moying, mainly discussing the scheming Wang Jun and Wang Bowei.

The father and son were notorious for their predatory tactics, having repeatedly conspired against Hua Moying in hopes of causing her downfall and seizing the chance to take over Guardian Star.

Out of the blue, Wang Feng thought of Zhang Ya, whom he had briefly encountered that evening. On impulse, he asked, "Ms. Hua, what's your opinion of Zhang Ya?"

Upon hearing Zhang Ya's name, Hua Moying's expression soured. She gave Wang Feng a disdainful look and retorted sharply, "Why do you ask? Are you interested in her?"

Wang Feng couldn't shake the feeling that Hua Moying was acting jealous for some reason.

But in the next instant, he dismissed the thought.

Jealous? Impossible!

He inwardly rejected the notion as Hua Moying's voice, melodious as an angel's song, filled the car. "Zhang Ya is a formidable woman, the epitome of a strong female leader. She's in her thirties but maintains herself like she's twenty-five. However, I've heard her marriage isn't going well. Whether that's true, I can't say."

It seemed Hua Moying was in high spirits to be sharing so much with Wang Feng.

"Oh, I see," Wang Feng responded, feigning understanding.

"Anything else you want to ask? If not, I'm going to catch some sleep!" Hua Moying grabbed the blanket in the car, draped it over herself, and closed her eyes while speaking.

Wang Feng watched Hua Moying snugly wrap herself in the blanket, his mind wandering to the hidden allure beneath. A tingling sensation crept up, his Adam's apple involuntarily bobbing as he replied against his better judgment, "No, go ahead and sleep."

By eleven o'clock at night, the roads were nearly deserted.

Wang Feng noticed a car persistently trailing him.

Wherever he went, the car followed.

After a quick test, he confirmed that the vehicle was indeed tailing him!

"Ms. Hua, wake up. We've got to stop sleeping; we're being followed!" Wang Feng urgently roused Hua Moying.

Barely asleep, Hua Moying's eyes snapped open at the sound of Wang Feng's voice.

As she came to, Wang Feng pointed out the black car behind them and said, "We have a tail."

Panic flickered across Hua Moying's face. "What do we do? Can you lose them?"

"I can, but..." Wang Feng's face twisted into a sly grin, his gaze suggestively falling on Hua Moying's soft, pink lips, the implication clear.

Under normal circumstances, Hua Moying would have caught on to Wang Feng's hint. "But what?"

"Ahem, how about a kiss?" Wang Feng proposed unabashedly, a cheeky smile on his face.

"No way!" Hua Moying flatly refused Wang Feng without a second thought.

Wang Feng was taken aback. He had assumed Hua Moying would readily agree to his proposition, but her rejection took him completely by surprise!

"Why not?" he asked, unable to hide his disappointment.

"Why would I want to kiss a jerk like you? You're nothing but a creep!" Hua Moying spat out the words through clenched teeth.

"How am I a jerk or a creep? I haven't done anything!" Wang Feng felt incredibly misunderstood. He hadn't done a thing, yet he was being labeled as such!

"Isn't asking me for a kiss enough to make you a jerk and a creep?" Hua Moying retorted, her anger dispelling any trace of sleepiness.

Wang Feng cleared his throat and quickly concocted the perfect excuse, "I was just kidding around. Why are you taking it so seriously?"

Hua Moying was left speechless.

"Okay, enough teasing. Hold on tight; I'm about to lose those jerks," Wang Feng said.

Relying on his Mind Monarch legacy and impressive driving skills, Wang Feng successfully lost the car that had been tailing them.

The car sped along, and Hua Moying felt a mix of excitement and nervousness, but mostly fear.

The car came to a smooth stop on the very bridge where Wang Feng and Hua Moying had first met.

"What are we doing here?" Hua Moying asked, her face etched with confusion.

"Nothing much. Just happened to be passing by," Wang Feng replied nonchalantly, raising an eyebrow. He rolled down the window, lit a cigarette, and took a drag, giving Hua Moying a sidelong glance. "Want to get out for a walk?"

Having been in the car for so long, Hua Moying was eager to step out and breathe in some fresh air, but she was concerned that Wang Feng might not have completely shaken off the other car.

Reading her thoughts, Wang Feng took another puff of his cigarette and chuckled softly, "Ms. Hua, I assure you, we've lost that car for good."

Without further hesitation, Hua Moying opened the car door and stepped out.

It was past eleven at night, and the bridge was deserted.

Memories of her first encounter with Wang Feng flooded back, and Hua Moying's cheeks flushed a deep red, as if she were a ripe, delectable apple.

"What's on your mind?" Wang Feng had quietly stepped out of the car and made his way to Hua Moying's side without her noticing.

Startled by his sudden presence, Hua Moying's delicate face flushed even more. She couldn't bring herself to meet Wang Feng's gaze and whispered, "It's nothing."

Wang Feng's eyes followed the blush that spread across Hua Moying's cheeks.

Was that a hint of shyness?

"Are you reminiscing about the day I rescued you? Feeling grateful?" Wang Feng teased, a playful smirk playing on his lips as he watched her reaction.
