C5 Monster Attack!

Zhou Yan began acquainting Diaochan with the lay of his land. As of now, his territory lacked even a basic fence, a necessity that required wood or stone to construct. Timber would have to be sourced by felling trees.

Given Diaochan's superior attributes and strength, Zhou Yan presented her with some beginner's gear, saying, "Here's some equipment for you to start with. Once I get my hands on better gear, I'll make sure you get an upgrade."

"Thank you, my Lord," Diaochan responded, preparing to bow in gratitude.

Zhou Yan quickly stepped in, clasping her hands, "Please, no more of that. I don't want you to be so formal with me; it puts too much distance between us."

"Understood, my Lord," Diaochan replied, cheeks flushing.

"You don't have to call me 'Lord.' Just 'Zhou Yan' will do," he insisted.

"But that seems improper."

"It's okay. I prefer it, actually."

"If you insist."

Zhou Yan then delved into her past, inquiring if she retained any memories from her life in the Three Kingdoms. He found out that Diaochan had no recollection of her previous life—a fortunate discovery.

He also learned about her innate spellcasting abilities, which came to her as naturally as breathing. Zhou Yan realized that her past didn't matter; what mattered was the new future that lay ahead of her.

Their new territory was sparse, lacking even the simplest of furnishings like a table or a chair. They sat together in the Spirit Vein Bamboo House, basking in the room's spiritual energy, which enveloped them in comfort akin to a warm hot spring.

Zhou Yan yearned to practice his cultivation techniques, but such knowledge was rare and valuable on the Canglan Continent. He would have to rely on his territory to acquire these skills.

They shared a modest meal, aware of the limited supplies Zhou Yan had brought with him. To survive the month-long novice period in the territory, they needed to address their food situation urgently.

Over the course of eight hours, they surveyed the entire territory. Zhou Yan's domain spanned five hundred square meters, with a fifty-meter visibility range beyond that. Past those fifty meters lay the unknown, shrouded in mystery.

Lords were tasked with exploring these Fog Zones, fraught with danger and uncertainty. A New Overlord encountering a monster would likely meet their end.

The territory space was peculiar, barring even the children of powerful Lords from entering the Overlord Space until they turned eighteen. Thus, all youths on the Canglan Continent started on equal footing, their levels and attributes nearly identical.

However, the offspring of the wealthy had the advantage of early strength training and access to quality equipment before entering their territories, giving them an edge in the Overlord Space.

Time seemed to fly for Zhou Yan in Diaochan's company. Eight hours later, Diaochan's demeanor shifted to one of alertness. "Zhou Yan, I sense the presence of monsters approaching," she warned.

Surprised by her sensitivity to distant auras, Zhou Yan realized she would likely be aware of his every move.

"Chan, let's stand together and defend our home," Zhou Yan declared, taking her hand with feigned gallantry, his intentions clear—he wanted Diaochan by his side.

Though she showed slight resistance to his forwardness, Diaochan didn't pull away. With her strength, she could have easily resisted his touch.

Her cheeks colored as she nodded in agreement, "Alright."

Zhou Yan smiled, reassured by her side. His earnestness, he believed, would win her over in time.

As they stepped outside, a black wolf charged toward their territory from a distance.

"Why are there ten monsters on my land?" Zhou Yan exclaimed, observing the pack of towering, two-meter-tall wolves with menacing eyes. This was an unexpected challenge for a New Overlord, as his education had taught him that no more than three monsters should appear at the outset in a golden Overlord Space.

"It must be the influence of the Rainbow Lord Space," Zhou Yan deduced, concern creasing his brow. This was far from good news.

On just the first day of the trial, the threat was already significant. If he couldn't muster the strength to defend his territory, all could be lost.

"No, I refuse to let them destroy my territory, my future!" Zhou Yan's sense of urgency surged. He would fight to safeguard his dreams.

Turning to Diaochan, he found a moment of solace. For now, she was his most reliable ally.

"Chan, do you have what it takes to take down these ten beasts?"

With Diaochan's attributes having skyrocketed by a factor of ten, she was a force to be reckoned with.

Armed with a slew of attribute enhancements, handling these creatures should be a walk in the park for her.

Turning to Zhou Yan, Diaochan offered a smile of radiant beauty.

"Rest easy, this territory is under my watch!"

Her smile vanished as she pivoted, her face now a mask of frost. She was a different person altogether, her new sword in hand as she surged forward with breathtaking speed.

She moved like a bolt of lightning, her movements a graceful dance, her stance both elegant and sprightly.

The territory, unfenced as it was, was soon breached by the black wolves.

Their sights were set on the Lord Crystal at the heart of the territory, a gem that seemed to call to them, luring them in like moths to a flame.

But upon catching sight of Diaochan, they bared their fangs and lunged at her.

"Chan!"

A flicker of anxiety crossed Zhou Yan's face. His faith in Diaochan's prowess was strong, yet concern gnawed at him.

He cursed his own lack of might, left with no choice but to stand by and watch the battle unfold.

As the gap between Diaochan and the wolves closed, her speed kicked up a notch. She became a blur, weaving through the pair of wolves with ease.

Her sword danced through the air, leaving behind the ethereal traces of twin lotuses.

The wolves hit the ground hard, lifeless, their blood seeping into the earth.

Zhou Yan watched, awestruck and amazed. Diaochan's strength was beyond what he had imagined. She had dispatched the two black wolves with effortless grace.
