C12 Who Saw It?
Despite Liu Fann's words, no one could truly see it that way.
Everyone was aware of Liu Fann's family background. A 300,000 yuan wedding wasn't considered pricey in the city, but for Liu Fann, it was a fortune.
"Don't worry, Mr. Fann. We won't have any trouble finding wives!" Lee Yue lamented internally, yet he was determined to restore some dignity for his friend.
"Lee Yue, he's the guy who picked up my shoes, and he thinks he can get married? You all must be broke," someone taunted.
The crowd bristled with anger, yet no one dared to speak up. Regret was etched on some faces.
"We never should have lent him the money," someone murmured.
Liu Fann overheard and scoffed, "Wang Meng, you shouldn't underestimate others. Lee Yue, come here!"
Lee Yue approached.
"Give me your bank card number!"
"Mr. Fann, what are you planning?" Lee Yue inquired, puzzled.
Three seconds later, Lee Yue stared in disbelief at the 100,000 yuan notification on his phone.
Liu Fann clapped him on the shoulder, grinning. "Divide this million yuan among yourselves. Since I didn't invite everyone to the wedding, consider this money as my way of making amends."
Lee Yue's hands shook as he gripped his phone. "Mr. Fann, where did you get a million yuan from...?"
The crowd was stunned silent. Seconds later, they crowded around Lee Yue, eyes glued to the phone's balance.
"Mr. Fann, you're incredibly generous!"
"It's actually a million yuan. Mr. Fann, this gift is too lavish!"
"Are you really giving us all this money? Is this a dream?"
Liu Fann just smiled. "We're friends, after all. Lee Yue, I'm sending you another 50,000 yuan. Go settle the accounts with finance for me."
Lee Yue nodded earnestly, "Absolutely!"
Liu Fann was at a loss for words.
Wang Meng was in disbelief. A million yuan was no small sum!
He couldn't fathom how the usually downtrodden Liu Fann had suddenly come into so much money. Green with envy at Liu Fann's casual generosity, he refused to be outdone. "Liu Fann, is that million yuan meant for your bride price?"
Before Wang Meng could finish his sentence, Liu Fann lunged forward and delivered a punch to his stomach, nearly making Wang Meng retch up his dinner from the night before.
"You dare to hit me? Do you think I won't get CEO Lei on you..." Wang Meng clutched his belly, fuming.
"Did anyone witness this?"
Liu Fann asked, a cold smile playing on his lips and a chill in his gaze.
Lee Yue immediately shook his head. "I didn't see anything."
"Neither did I!"
"I still haven't finished yesterday's work."
Liu Fann's voice was icy as he warned, "I'm not associated with this company anymore. Keep spouting nonsense, and you're done for!"
The intensity in Liu Fann's eyes sent a shiver of fear through Wang Meng. By the time he snapped out of it, Liu Fann had already walked away.
Stepping out of the company, Liu Fann felt a weight lift off his shoulders.
He hoisted his beloved woven bag and resumed his trash-picking.
The once comforting sight of the pristine, litter-free boulevard now left Liu Fann at a loss for words. Not a scrap of trash or a single garbage bag in sight. The sanitation workers had outdone themselves.
Undeterred, Liu Fann continued his search, convinced there was still trash to be found.
Ahead, a child was casually tossing litter.
