C4 Forming a Group Trend!
The craze for teaming up was in full swing!
Liu Loong considered himself the most formidable fighter in Beginner Village.
Basking in the adulation of his peers, he couldn't help but get a bit carried away with pride.
But when he witnessed someone else dispatching monsters with such ease, he instinctively dismissed them as pushovers. He was convinced that he could do even better.
With that, Liu Loong confidently strode out of the protective barrier and ventured beyond the confines of Beginner Village.
The onlookers exchanged glances, eager to see how Liu Loong would fare.
The mysterious powerhouse had dispatched a level one zombie as if it were nothing, yet the true fighting capacity of such a zombie remained a mystery to them.
Now that Liu Loong was stepping up to the plate, they were all too happy to hang back and watch.
Should the level one zombie prove to be a lightweight, then the rest would join the fray.
In matters of life and death, caution was paramount.
Whoosh!
Liu Loong hadn't gone far when a ghastly zombie with a green face and vicious fangs swooped in front of him and launched an attack without warning.
"A measly level one zombie is as easy to kill as a dog!" he boasted.
Underestimating the zombie, Liu Loong unleashed his beast heart talent and let out a roar akin to that of a tiger.
Empowered with the might of the great cat, he lashed out with a whip-like kick at the zombie.
Puff!
His foot connected with the zombie!
The creature stumbled back two steps!
"Ah!" Yet, the scream of agony came from Liu Loong.
His right leg had been savagely clawed by the zombie, flesh ripped from his thigh, blood gushing out.
The zombie had merely been pushed back two steps.
Clearly, this was no ordinary zombie.
Biting back pain, Liu Loong launched a flurry of attacks.
But it was he who ended up on the receiving end of a beating.
Despite the back-and-forth, Liu Loong couldn't penetrate the zombie's defenses, while he himself was left bloodied and torn.
"No!"
Realizing he was on the brink of death, Liu Loong refused to go down without a fight and bolted towards the safety of the protective barrier.
Had he fled at the outset, he might have stood a fighting chance.
But wounded and slowed, he barely made it a few paces before the zombie pounced, bringing him crashing to the ground.
The zombie's talons sank into Liu Loong's back, mercilessly shredding him to pieces.
"Why? How can a level one zombie have a combat strength of 220?!"
"Why does that guy slaughter zombies with ease, while I'm dying? I don't want to die! It's not fair! It's just too unfair!"
With those final, agonizing words, Liu Loong was ripped apart, leaving the ground a gruesome tableau of blood and gore.
As death loomed, Liu Loong couldn't fathom the strength of a level one zombie, nor how an unknown warrior managed to slay five such zombies in mere moments.
His reckless action was fueled by his own arrogance, but it was the misleading display of strength by the enigmatic expert that had spurred him to seek glory prematurely.
But Liu Loong's questions would remain unanswered, for he was dead.
"Trial challenger Liu Loong has been slain by a level one zombie!"
Once the system broadcast Liu Loong's demise, the zombie devoured his brain before an audience of two thousand humans.
The creature then locked its blood-red gaze on the onlookers behind the barrier, let out a guttural growl, and vanished into the shadows.
Accustomed to the order of civilized society, the sight of such savagery left many utterly petrified.
For the first time, they grasped the brutal reality: the Whole Heaven Battlefield was no mere video game, but a lethal arena of war.
"It turns out the level one zombies are formidable; it's just that the anonymous boss is on another level! Liu Loong was stronger than any of us, yet he couldn't penetrate a level one zombie's defenses!"
"It's horrifying. None of us could take on a zombie alone. And these are just the level one zombies; who knows what greater dangers lie ahead?"
"We can't go it alone anymore. We must unite and act as one! We're not all-powerful bosses; we need to gang up to stand a chance against a level one zombie!"
"How did that hidden boss manage to mow down the zombies all by himself?"
It was then that everyone recognized the sheer anomaly of Chen Guo's abilities and the urgent need to band together, leveraging the power of teamwork to survive the zombie threat.
Going solo, even a professional fighter like Liu Loong would be nothing more than a sitting duck.
Teams quickly formed, and with caution, they ventured out of Beginner Village.
Indeed, there was strength in numbers. Despite some casualties, the groups managed to take down level 1 zombies without much trouble.
But the slaughter points earned from the zombies had to be divided among the team members, making their leveling speed pale in comparison to Chen Guo's.
...
"Trial challenger Liu Loong has been slain by a level 1 zombie!"
Chen Guo received word of Liu Loong's demise.
He remembered Liu Loong well; the man had made quite an impression with his high-profile start and commendable fighting capacity, earning the admiration of many.
Chen Guo had even acquired mastery of cold weapons from Liu Loong.
It was unexpected that Liu Loong would be the first to fall. Maybe it's true what they say about the best swimmers being the most likely to drown.
Death didn't faze Chen Guo much. He was highly adaptable and understood the brutal nature of this game. Out of the two thousand plus people in Beginner Village, only a handful would make it out alive.
Even with his Heaven Level talent, Chen Guo knew he had to grab every chance to enhance his abilities or risk meeting the same fate as Liu Loong.
Here, everything else was an illusion; only power was the undeniable truth.
"Those who are wise will team up. It's the strategy with the highest chance of survival!"
Chen Guo kept an eye out for zombies, and soon, he saw various small teams heading into the forest to hunt them down.
After watching for a bit, he noted that these teams, leveraging their numerical advantage and superior human intellect to set traps, had no trouble dispatching zombies.
Yet even the best-laid plans had their flaws, and inevitably, some would fall victim.
After surveying the scene, Chen Guo kept his distance.
His unique talent, if revealed, would surely attract unwanted attention. Better to steer clear of the crowd and focus on leveling up.
But advancing levels was no easy feat.
To move from level one to level two required a hundred slaughter points.
To ascend from level two to level three demanded five hundred slaughter points.
The difficulty had increased fivefold.
Chen Guo finally understood why this survival mission was dubbed "Nine Deaths, One Life." It wasn't just a reference to the slim chances of surviving monster battles; it was also because out of ten people, perhaps only one would manage to reach level nine within seven days. The rest were certain to be eliminated—a true embodiment of "Nine Deaths, One Life."
"You have slain a level one zombie, earning 20 slaughter points!"
After dispatching another dozen level one zombies, Chen Guo's dissatisfaction with his leveling efficiency grew. He realized that to level up quickly, simply grinding level one zombies wouldn't cut it.
He needed to venture deeper into the territory and take down higher-level monsters.
