C11 Transforming the Rotten into the Miraculous
Lucy, head bowed in distress, murmured, "Let him try. If it doesn't work, you can always step in, can't you?"
"Hmph! Then the consultation fee doubles," Sabino retorted, his eyes alight with avarice.
Lucy's face turned an even paler shade as she bit her lip, agonizing over her decision.
Zachary observed Sabino with a cold stare. 'Does this guy even deserve to be called a doctor?' he wondered.
It was an insult to the white coat he wore.
Sabino's sneer grew wider, his mouth curling with derision. "Think you can cure him? That's a joke! Let's get one thing straight—if the patient dies, I'm not to blame!"
He was quick to wash his hands of any responsibility, the very picture of a self-interested charlatan.
Suppressing his anger and disdain, Zachary addressed Lucy earnestly, "Auntie, I will restore your son's health."
He was determined to demonstrate his ability, not just to prove himself, but to truly heal the patient.
Ignoring Sabino's mocking laughter, Zachary produced his ancestral silver needles and began skillfully preparing them for use.
"Acupuncture?" Sabino sneered at the sight of the needles, taunting, "Those long needles could kill someone, you know?"
Zachary ignored his gibes, concentrating on infusing the needles with the vital energy from his body, his confidence in his healing prowess stemming from the Medical Saint Scripture.
Using the knowledge from the Medical Saint Scripture, he had already diagnosed the boy's ailment.
A dark, stagnant energy was clogging the boy's heart, obstructing blood flow to both the heart and liver. The boy's allergic reaction to antibiotics like penicillin had led to recurring fevers and a vicious cycle of overworked organs, presenting a false appearance of organ failure.
The hospital had misdiagnosed the boy with organ failure and had been treating him with more antibiotics.
Over time, the boy's condition had worsened, rendering him incredibly weak and leaving the top hospitals helpless.
Zachary's hands moved with practiced ease, inserting the silver needles into various acupoints on the boy's body—his nose tip, armpits, and abdomen, among others.
"Putting on quite the show, aren't you? I'm just waiting to see how you'll kill the patient," Sabino mocked with a sneer.
Zachary remained composed as he selected another silver needle and deftly inserted it into the tip of the boy's nose. With the insertion of the needle, the child's whimpers of pain abruptly stopped. The cold sweat that had drenched his forehead ceased, and his ashen complexion quickly returned to normal.
Sabino and his assistant were stunned by the boy's extraordinary transformation.
The boy let out a soft murmur, the kind of noise one might make while deeply asleep.
"He's not hurting anymore; his condition is under control!" Lucy exclaimed, her voice filled with relief. After years of tending to her son, who hadn't had a peaceful night's sleep since his illness began, this soft murmur was like a heavenly chorus to her ears.
"How is this possible?" The assistant was in utter disbelief, his mind reeling from what he had just witnessed.
Sabino's face turned ashen as he fixed his gaze on Zachary. He was no fool; the boy's marked improvement was evident. This was more than just a stabilization—it was a significant step toward recovery.
"He just got lucky!" Sabino refused to accept that Zachary had the ability to heal the boy.
Zachary heard Sabino's muttered skepticism and responded with a faint, mocking smile, but he said nothing. After waiting a few minutes, he stopped and turned to Lucy, "Auntie, I've eliminated all the antibiotics from his body, and without the allergic reaction, he's going to feel much better."
"Does that mean my boy is cured?" Lucy asked, her voice quivering with anticipation.
Zachary shook his head, causing a moment of stunned silence from Lucy.
Sabino burst into laughter. "Kid, I told you—you're just a blind cat that stumbled upon a dead mouse. That was just a coincidence! There's no way you've cured him!"
Zachary ignored Sabino and, after a brief pause, said, "Auntie, your son isn't completely cured yet, but it's not a difficult fix. Could you please bring a basin of hot water?"
"Oh, right away!" Lucy responded, dashing off to fetch the water without any hesitation.
Holding a steaming basin, Zachary took the little boy's hand, pricked his fingertip with a silver needle, and placed the finger into the hot water.
"Ah!" Lucy cried out, alarmed at the sight. She feared the scalding water would harm her son's hand.
Zachary, however, seemed unaffected as he kept a close watch on the water's condition.
In just a few minutes, the previously clear water began to turn murky, eventually darkening to black.
Meanwhile, the dark mist around the boy's heart gradually dissipated until it vanished completely!
"All done!" Zachary declared, lifting the boy's hand and removing the silver needle.
"Uh." Moments later, the boy, who had been unconscious, slowly opened his eyes and looked at Lucy. "Mom, I'm thirsty!"
"My goodness!" Lucy exclaimed, tears of joy streaming down her face as she hugged her son tightly, laughing and crying at the same time, "It's a miracle! My child, you're cured."
"Mom, why are you crying?" the little boy asked curiously.
"Sweetheart, Mommy is just so happy!" Lucy said, her voice choked with emotion.
Sabino and his assistant stood frozen in disbelief, as if struck by lightning.
They had never dreamed that Zachary could truly heal the boy—not just manage his symptoms, but revive a patient who had been all but pronounced dead by the top hospitals, all within mere minutes!
"This can't be, I don't believe it!" Sabino shouted, nearly hysterical as he rushed to check the boy.
But after his examinations confirmed the boy was only slightly weak and otherwise completely normal, Sabino nearly collapsed, staggering backward and almost falling.
"Dr. Zhang!" His assistant quickly caught him, preventing a fall.
Sabino's face twisted with fury as he fixed his gaze on Zachary, "What exactly did you do to him?"
"It doesn't matter what I did; the boy is cured! You can leave now; he doesn't need you anymore," Zachary said impatiently, his contempt for a dishonest doctor like Sabino clear.
"You!" Sabino fumed, turning abruptly, "Lucy, don't be deceived by this charlatan!"
Lucy's face changed abruptly, clutching her son as she exclaimed indignantly, "I don't care, he cured my boy, he's my benefactor! Get out, I don't want you treating my child!"
"Cursed!" Sabino quivered with rage, his whole body shaking.
Zachary looked on with a cool dispassion, "Take your payment and go! You're no doctor, just a fraud!"
