Brian could tell that Zachary and Lucy had a good relationship; they were close, so giving Lucy money was pretty much the same as giving it to Zachary.

"No way!" Lucy firmly refused, shaking her head. "You're Zachary's friend, and I can't take your money. If people find out, they'll gossip about me."

She couldn't take Brian's money. Not only were Brian and his associates known troublemakers
