C19 Dishaying Is a Skill!
As Jiang Su stepped out of the room, a hush fell over the onlookers. They were all too wary of crossing him or the Little Kylin.
Unaware of their trepidation, Jiang Su assumed they were simply engrossed in their work and cultivation. Meanwhile, Wang Tian was lost in thought until he realized the man rolling up his sleeves to chop wood was none other than Jiang Su, snapping him back to reality.
Startled, Wang Tian nearly dropped his knife, exclaiming, "Jiang, you shouldn't have to do such menial tasks."
"I'm just a cook," Jiang Su replied. "Should I expect to eat and live here without lifting a finger?"
To him, labor was a noble pursuit.
Wang Tian edged closer to Jiang Su and glanced around before whispering, "Jiang, you're now Ye Nong's equal in the No.1 kitchen; you're not expected to do this sort of work."
Confusion crossed Jiang Su's face. Was he really on par with Ye Nong?
Ye Nong was related to Bai Yih, one of the Devil Sect's four elders—a man of stature with a mysterious vendetta against Jiang Su.
Squinting, Jiang Su responded, "Keep working. How's Ye Nong's recovery?"
"He's much improved. He was up and about today. No one woke you this morning because he said you're exempt from these chores. Plus, after Little Kylin gave him a thrashing yesterday, he's not about to bother you again."
True, Ye Nong wouldn't dare provoke Jiang Su now, but Bai Yih might still be a different story.
Jiang Su sensed that the No. 1 kitchen was on the cusp of significant events.
With a smile, he picked up the axe and gathered the firewood from the ground, setting to work with vigor.
Wang Tian watched in awe. To the others, Jiang Su was a paragon of resilience and dedication, working alongside the likes of them rather than acting superior like Ye Nong, who was prone to bullying.
Had Ye Nong not provoked Jiang Su the day before, he wouldn't have suffered at the hands of Little Kylin.
For a moment, as Jiang Su focused intently on his task, he seemed to radiate an inner light in the eyes of all who watched.
He seemed like a deity descending from the heavens.
At that moment, Jiang Su, deeply engrossed in chopping wood, pondered why his signing-in mission hadn't yet appeared. Had it shown up earlier, he wouldn't have risen so late. Perhaps the system intended for him to take a day off? With no signing-in mission for the day, he decided to split logs as a form of physical training. This activity would allow the spiritual energy within his spirit vein to circulate more freely.
Suddenly, the disciples practicing nearby began to stir.
With his keen hearing, Jiang Su quickly picked up on their astonished whispers and saw their hasty bows. He knew Chiu Yue had arrived.
A twinge of irritation crossed his mind. He had assumed Chiu Yue had abandoned the idea of taking him on as a disciple, especially after the Holy Dragon's declaration. Yet, Chiu Yue was here, seeking him out.
Due to possessing the Ancestral Dragon Martial Spirit, Chiu Yue and Wuyou had squandered a hundred top-quality pills and a precious sword on him. Were they here to reclaim their losses?
Since the Holy Dragon's display of power, it had fallen into a deep slumber, leaving Jiang Su with only the awakened Golden Dragon Bloodline. His physique had grown stronger, outmatching most Body Cultivators, but without the true Ancestral Dragon Martial Spirit, he doubted his ability to best the more formidable opponents.
His cultivation level wasn't sufficient to earn his wife's approval.
As Jiang Su contemplated escape, Chiu Yue appeared before him. With a warm smile, he said, "Do you truly not wish to be my Head Disciple? As a Sword Cultivator, I can assure you my guidance will be invaluable. The Holy Dragon lies dormant within you. To fully inherit the Ancestral Dragon Martial Spirit, you'll need significant cultivation. I urge you to give it some thought."
The earnestness in Chiu Yue's eyes was unmistakable.
It became clear that he hadn't come to reclaim the pills from Jiang Su. As the leader of the four elders, he was expected to maintain such magnanimity.
