C27 Eldest Senior Brother, You Are the Most Popular Person in the World!
How could this be? Its former master was a legendary figure who had ascended, a paragon of talent and inspiration among the young monks of the Cultivation World!
This divine sword chooses its master with care! And now, it has chosen Jiang Su?
Could Jiang Su be the next unparalleled prodigy destined for Ascension?
When she had first considered taking Jiang Su as her disciple, it was merely a passing thought sparked by his appearance. The sword was of no use to her, and she figured it might as well benefit a member of the Devil Domain. But she never imagined that a mere cook could be so fortunate as to become the sword's chosen master.
Jiang Su was truly remarkable!
"Jiang, it's nearly noon. Why hasn't anyone brought us food? I'm starving," Wang Tian groaned. As a Body Cultivator who hadn't yet reached the Foundation Stage, his appetite was enormous.
He had skipped breakfast to clean and had spent the morning watching Jiang practice on the Martial Arts Platform, which only added to his hunger.
Jiang Su paused, a bit taken aback. He himself no longer required food. However, to keep from revealing that he was beyond the Qi Sensing Stage and to avoid complications, he still ate occasionally.
With a sigh, he wondered when he would reach the Foundation Stage.
"We should get food like we did last night. Let's just wait a bit longer."
After a moment of thought, Wang Tian's eyes lit up with an idea. "Jiang, how about we head to the Outer Sect disciples' cafeteria and try some of Ye Nong's cooking?"
Despite its strength, the First Devil Sect recruited many Outer Sect disciples annually. Most of these disciples hadn't achieved the Foundation Stage, so a cafeteria was established within the sect for them. Naturally, Inner Sect disciples sometimes visited to sample the fare as well.
Jiang Su quirked an eyebrow, musing, "Ye Nong? Is his cooking even edible? If Ye Nong knew I was coming to eat, he might slip something extra into the dishes."
"Let's go."
He was genuinely intrigued. The cafeteria held fond memories for him; it was a place he often frequented during his school days.
Eating in the cafeteria was a slice of his youthful days.
The guards at Sword Wing Peak were struck with awe when Jiang Su appeared before them like a celestial being. Their eyes were glued to him, unable to look away. The Eldest Senior Brother had only been gone a day, yet he returned with an air of increased grace.
He was already handsome, but now he seemed even more so. What female cultivator wouldn't fall for him?
The guards had long since resigned themselves to bachelorhood.
As Jiang Su walked past, he noticed their crestfallen expressions, reminiscent of the Little Kylin in his storage space.
He wondered, was he really that off-putting?
Upon his arrival at the base of the mountain, the female cultivators who had been about to depart concocted various excuses to return.
They could miss Elder Chiu Yue's breakthrough, the sale on Luo Sha fabric, even their own cultivation time, but they wouldn't miss an opportunity to encounter the Eldest Senior Brother.
"Eldest Senior Brother! What brings you down the mountain? Where do you wish to go? I'll escort you!" they offered, batting their eyelashes at Jiang Su. But he simply brushed off their advances and turned to Wang Tian, "Do you know the way?"
Wang Tian's attention shifted from the charming female cultivators back to Jiang Su. His palms were sweaty; he wiped them on his shirt before confidently responding, "Of course, I know the way. I haven't been hanging around the No. 1 kitchen for nothing! Let's head to the Outer Sect's dining hall for a meal."
Wang Tian led Jiang Su to a large courtyard, the female cultivators trailing behind them.
The courtyard was bustling with Outer Sect disciples enjoying their meals on the ground, the male disciples' laughter ringing loud and clear. The simple pleasure of dining was evident all around.
Inside the courtyard was a massive dining hall, teeming with people and noise, mostly young female disciples chatting and eating.
As soon as Jiang Su entered, the courtyard fell silent. The male cultivators stared at him for a few seconds before snapping to attention. They rose to their feet in unison, greeting him, "Greetings, Eldest Senior Brother!"
Some even had grains of rice stuck to their faces as they stood, looking bewildered.
The commotion quickly hushed the bustling dining hall to a sudden silence. Then, a chorus of female cultivators' screams nearly lifted the roof off the place.
"Eldest Senior Brother is so handsome!"
"Someone catch me—I think I'm going to faint from excitement!"
Jiang Su entered, his face a mask of indifference to the adoring cries, until he overheard, "Does someone as mighty as Eldest Senior Brother even need to eat?"
They were giving him too much credit.
He hadn't reached the Foundation Stage yet; he still needed sustenance.
Wang Tian led Jiang Su to the ordering area, where the canteen worker, visibly thrilled, eagerly recommended the tastiest dishes to him. Jiang Su was quite impressed with the cafeteria—generous portions were always a plus.
Wang Tian, noticing the extra helpings piled on Jiang Su's tray, thought wryly, "They load up your plate and skimp on mine. Jiang's charm is undeniable!"
After they got their food, Jiang Su and Wang Tian found the cafeteria packed to the brim, with no seats in sight. Several female cultivators stood, beckoning Jiang Su to join them.
Feigning ignorance, Jiang Su suggested casually, "Let's eat outside."
It appeared that the age-old dilemma of a crowded eatery was not exclusive to the modern world but a common nuisance in the Fantasy World as well.
Jiang Su also sensed stares not from the female cultivators, but from their male counterparts. A quick scan of the room confirmed his suspicion—several male cultivators were poorly concealing their envy.
Wang Tian might have been slow to react, but he was quick to catch the jealous looks thrown their way. With a fierce glare, honed under Ye Nong's tutelage in the No. 1 kitchen, he silenced their silent challenges.
Jiang Su gave Wang Tian a reassuring pat on the shoulder, signaling that it wasn't worth their concern.
"Eldest Senior Brother, our meal is over. This seat is yours."
The two female cultivators rose from their seats, offering Jiang Su a smile. They may not have been striking in appearance, but they possessed an understated, elegant charm.
Jiang Su decided that since the two female disciples had invited him, he might as well join them for a meal.
"Thank you," he said.
At his words, the female cultivators blushed and shyly made their exit.
After finishing lunch, Jiang Su escorted Wang Tian back to Sword Wing Peak, resolved to avoid the Outer Sect disciples' dining hall in the future.
"Why?" Wang Tian inquired.
"The food is simply dreadful," Jiang Su responded.
Wang Tian mused to himself, "And here I thought Jiang was spooked by those overzealous female cultivators!"
Jiang Su spent some time lying in his room on the left side of his dwelling. With no new signing-in missions from the system, he rose out of boredom and strolled into the courtyard.
Once again, the three-foot green sword materialized. Thankfully, drawing the sword this time didn't provoke any celestial phenomena, sparing him the hassle of another round of trouble.
