C62 Fighting Bai Yih, Who Was at the Nascent Infant Stage!
At that moment, the crowd remained in the Compendium Pavilion, anxiously awaiting Jiang Su's emergence. Their surprise was palpable, as all but Elder Chiu Yue of the First Devil Sect's Four Great Elders had assembled there.
Murmurs of respect echoed throughout.
"Greetings, Elder Wuyou."
"Greetings, Elder Bai Yih."
"Greetings, Elder Lin Tian."
Elder Su Wuyou dismissed the formalities with a nonchalant wave of her hand. Her brow was furrowed, her lips sealed in silence. Meanwhile, Elder Lin Tian paced restlessly, his face etched with concern.
None of them had ever stepped foot on the tenth floor. The Female Ruler had deemed it off-limits, a restricted zone within the Compendium Pavilion, and had charged Lin Tian with the task of laying intricate formations across the final five levels.
The thought that Jiang Su could dismantle every single formation was beyond anyone's wildest dreams. It could only mean that the tenth floor harbored perils untold.
Everyone hoped against hope that Jiang Su would survive this ordeal.
Elder Bai Yih, however, merely arched an eyebrow, casually flipping through a book. He was secretly hoping Jiang Su would meet his end on that very floor. After all, he had poured half his life's savings into the Nebula Pavilion to smooth over past troubles. Had Jiang Su not opportunistically become Chiu Yue's Head Disciple, Bai Yih would have taken his life long ago.
Su Wuyou, who had always been at odds with Bai Yih, could read the anticipation in his rival's demeanor.
Wang Tian's anxiety was palpable. Despite Rong Yu being a guest, Wang Tian clung to him as if his life depended on it.
Rong Yu felt resigned. He believed Jiang Su would come to no harm on the tenth floor, thinking the others were overly apprehensive.
But then, ten tendrils of black gas erupted skyward from the tenth floor of the Compendium Pavilion, sending Lin Tian and Su Wuyou into a state of shock. Their faces blanched at the sight; the black gas was unmistakably the spirit breath of those in the Nascent Infant Stage.
Dozens of Nascent Infant Stage Experts on the tenth floor? It seemed inconceivable.
Jiang Su's life must be hanging by the thinnest of threads. No matter his talent, facing off against dozens of Nascent Infants was a feat no one could expect him to achieve.
Without hesitation, Su Wuyou and Lin Tian charged towards the Compendium Pavilion, with Wang Tian hot on their heels.
Upon witnessing the grave expressions of the Four Great Elders, everyone grasped the severity of the situation - Eldest Senior Brother was in peril!
Rong Yu's heart skipped a beat, his mind racing: Could Jiang Su truly handle dozens of Nascent Infants?
Jiang Su trudged on until he descended to the ninth floor, where he finally found relief. The water was less pervasive here, and the ominous shadows that lurked beneath its surface were absent.
Now, he was far from the esteemed image of the Head Disciple. He felt as though he had been submerged, his spiritual energy utterly drained.
Leaning on a bookshelf, he surveyed the resplendent space around him, taking a moment to rest with his eyes closed.
Suddenly, three figures burst in. Jiang Su sensed their spirit breaths - Su Wuyou, Lin Tian, and a particularly familiar one, Wang Tian. What brought him here?
The trio stormed onto the ninth floor only to find Jiang Su quietly reclining against the bookshelf, his spirit breath undetectable.
Wang Tian's emotions overwhelmed him as he collapsed onto Jiang Su, "Jiang! What will I do if you're gone? I can't live without you!"
Su Wuyou and Lin Tian were struck motionless.
Was this extraordinary talent to be extinguished today?
Lin Tian may not have known about Jiang Su's Heaven Grade spiritual root, but he recognized that Jiang Su was destined for greatness.
It would be a tragic loss if Jiang Su were to perish.
Jiang Su, too weary for words, wished for nothing more than a moment's peace. "Don't jinx me. I'm not dead," he murmured.
Opening his eyes, Jiang Su caught Wang Tian's tear-streaked, snotty face - a comical sight.
The rollercoaster of emotions had passed, and Wang Tian was himself again. He swiftly propped Jiang Su up, who then leaned on him for support.
Exhaustion had taken its toll.
In the perilous Cultivation World, Jiang Su's current level of cultivation was alarmingly inadequate. This was only his first time checking in, and already he was contending with a host of formidable opponents. The future was uncertain.
Jiang Su knew he had to grow stronger. Only with increased power could he neutralize the threats, match his wife's strength, and confront Bai Yih, the adversary who had harmed his friend Wang Tian.
In that moment, Su Wuyou and Lin Tian came to the realization that they had been unable to sense Jiang Su's spirit breath because his body was completely devoid of spiritual energy. It was clear that Jiang Su had just come through an intense battle.
Relieved, Lin Tian exhaled deeply and said, "Thank goodness you're unharmed."
Lin Tian could tell from Jiang Su's playful demeanor that he had emerged victorious from the recent conflict.
As a Foundation Stage Inner Sect disciple, Jiang Su had triumphed in a clash with dozens of Nascent Infant Stage Experts.
Su Wuyou knew she had to keep Jiang Su's defeat of the Nascent Infant Stage Experts under wraps. Besides, even if she did share the news, it was unlikely anyone would believe her.
Her thoughts turned to Rong Yu, the Head Disciple of the First Immortal Sect who had accompanied Wang Tian today, and her eyes glinted with a hint of frost.
"It's a relief that Jiang Hee is okay. Wang Tian, let's escort Jiang Su back to Sword Wing Peak for now. He needs to recuperate and await his master's return," she suggested.
Wang Tian nodded in agreement. He recalled that Elder Chiu Yue had bestowed numerous top-quality immortal pills upon Jiang. With this in mind, Wang Tian resolved to look after Jiang attentively once they were back at Sword Wing Peak.
Wang Tian made a silent vow that once he gained enough strength, he would dismantle the tenth floor of the Compendium Pavilion.
Out of the blue, Jiang Su inquired, "Is Elder Bai Yih also here?"
Concerned for Jiang Su's injuries, Lin Tian responded promptly, "He's on the first floor waiting."
Jiang Su gently pushed Wang Tian aside and stood upright. He had sufficiently rested, and the Celestial Spiritual Root within him had absorbed some of the surrounding spiritual energy. Although it wasn't enough to offset the depletion from the battle, Jiang Su was now able to walk without assistance.
Without a moment's hesitation, Jiang Su retrieved numerous top-quality immortal pills from his storage space and swallowed them whole.
Jiang Su's spiritual energy was fully restored.
Aside from his depleted spiritual force and slightly damp clothes, Jiang Su bore no signs of having been in a fierce battle. In fact, he looked more like someone who had grown weary from chopping dozens of large radishes while preparing a midday meal.
Watching Jiang Su effortlessly consume the top-quality immortal pills, Lin Tian couldn't help but gulp. As a relatively new elder, he had only a limited supply of such pills and envied Jiang Su's abundant stash.
Lin Tian longed for the day when he could casually munch on top-quality immortal pills like Jiang Su did.
Su Wuyou arched an eyebrow upon witnessing this. She was aware of the friction between Jiang Su and Ye Nong, the kitchen's proprietor, and that Bai Yih was Ye Nong's supporter.
Initially, Su Wuyou hadn't believed there was any direct animosity between Jiang Su and Bai Yih. However, Jiang Su's urgent inquiry about Bai Yih's presence raised her suspicions that the two might have already come to blows.
Su Wuyou resolved that she needed to assist the Female Ruler in dealing with Bai Yih.
"Bai Yih, you better hope I don't uncover any evidence of you sabotaging Jiang Su," Su Wuyou mused. "Conspiring with external factions is punishable by death in the Devil Domain."
Once they were certain Jiang Su's injuries were minor, Wang Tian and his companions proceeded to the first floor of the Compendium Pavilion with him.
Wang Tian babbled incessantly along the way. He alternated between singing Jiang Su's praises and cursing the architect of the Compendium Pavilion, grumbling about how the tenth floor was designed to torment others.
Wang Tian was grateful for Jiang's formidable strength; without it, Jiang might not have survived the treacherous tenth floor of the Compendium Pavilion.
