C70 The Love of My Wife, Divine Grade Pill!

A subtle shade of ink lingered in Su Wuyou's gaze, discernible only upon close inspection—a sliver of iciness hidden within her eyes.

How had Rong Yu foreseen his own failure? Or was there an ulterior motive behind his feigned defeat?

With a slight purse of his lips, Rong Yu responded, "My abilities fell short. I've disappointed my master's expectations."

Su Wuyou was poised to probe further, but at that moment, Jiang Su let out an abrupt yawn, declaring, "It's getting late. I'm really feeling the pull of sleep. I've got to get up early for cultivation."

Wang Tian was utterly bewildered, like a frantic monkey unable to find a melon in the field.

"If my dear Martial Nephew is off to bed, then I shall take my leave," Su Wuyou announced, leaving Jiang Su momentarily dumbfounded.

Before Jiang Su could voice his displeasure, Su Wuyou had vanished as swiftly as smoke.

Rong Yu questioned his own sanity. Had he really believed that Jiang Su deliberately cut off Su Wuyou's questioning?

Perhaps I'm overthinking it, Rong Yu mused.

"Brother Jiang, I'll head out now."

The room on the left was then left to just Jiang Su and Wang Tian.

Wang Tian's eyes flickered with curiosity, eager to understand why Su Wuyou had confronted Rong Yu.

Exhausted from the day's events, Jiang Su managed, "I'll explain it to you tomorrow."

"Sounds good!"

Wang Tian could see that his friend was truly spent. He didn't want to burden Jiang Su any further, even if it meant delaying his quest for answers.

Having freshened up, Wang Tian hit the makeshift bed and was out like a light in no time.

Jiang Su, however, remained awake, propping himself up at his desk. He wasn't there to read; he was waiting for someone.

"Disciple, you've had a long day. Why not take a break? You're so weary you can barely keep your eyes open."

Earlier that day, Jiang Su had dueled with a Nascent Infant Stage Expert in the Compendium Pavilion and later achieved a breakthrough in his cultivation. He had even captured Rong Yu in the dead of night. He was spent, yet he waited for someone who mattered to him.

A call of a crane echoed by the window. Jiang Su's spirits lifted as he approached. A crane stood there, unremarkable and certainly not comparable to Master Wen's majestic red-crowned crane. Yet, the defiant pride in its eyes was strikingly similar to his wife's gaze.

With an air of haughtiness, the crane dropped a red box at his feet and took flight.

Sleep fled from Jiang Su in an instant. His long night's efforts had finally paid off.

Upon opening the box, he found a pill and a note inside.

Shangguan Yue's eyes sparkled with excitement. He recognized the contents of the box—a Divine Grade Advancement Pill, a treasure rarely seen, even in ancient texts. Not in a millennium had a Pill Cultivator managed to craft such an item!

"Congratulations, Host. You are now in possession of the only Divine Grade Advancement Pill in the entire Cultivation World."

His wife's generosity knew no bounds!

The Divine Grade Advancement Pill was infinitely more valuable than a hundred top-quality immortal pills. Any cultivator, regardless of their current level, would break through to the next minor realm upon taking it, all while avoiding the perils of Heavenly Tribulation.

It seemed that only his wife could possess such a treasure in the whole Cultivation World.

Jiang Su read the note from his wife, its elegant script brief yet profound. The joy it brought him surpassed even that of receiving the pill.

"Reward."

It dawned on Shangguan Yue that this was the Female Ruler's gift to Jiang Su.

He decided not to question why Jiang Su's wife had bestowed such a gift. Clearly, the Empress held Jiang Su in high regard.

Jiang Su had no desire to be the Prince of Tianqi. As the Head Disciple of the Devil Sect, he was now romantically involved with the Empress herself.

He carefully placed the note back in the box and stowed the entire package in his Storage Space.

The Divine Grade Advancement Pill was not needed at the moment. After all, the level attained through pill consumption was not as robust or stable as one achieved through genuine cultivation. Jiang Su resolved to save it for a time of dire need.

When Jiang Su learned that the First Immortal Sect had dispatched their Head Disciple, Rong Yu, he immediately understood Rong Yu's intentions.

Rong Yu was in search of none other than Jiang Su, the Prince of Tianqi himself. Rong Yu was eager to find out if Jiang Su would be willing to relay messages to the First Immortal Sect promptly. Jiang Su could easily deduce Rong Yu's motives, and so could his wife, the Empress of the Devil Sect.

Furthermore, his wife had initially declined an audience with the Emperor of Tianqi, yet now she had consented to meet with a mere Immortal Sect disciple. Her actions were a clear attempt to gauge Jiang Su's loyalties. She needed to ascertain whose side Jiang Su was on.

The stakes of this mission were incredibly high. Failure would bring dire consequences. The First Immortal Sect wasn't foolish; they knew the mission's success was paramount, which explained the abundance of top-tier equipment they provided Rong Yu.

Yet, the mission's two critical elements were compromised. First, Jiang Su's identity had shifted to that of the Head Disciple of the Devil Sect, making him untraceable to the executor. Second, Rong Yu had deliberately sabotaged the mission.

It's likely that even the First Immortal Sect was unaware of Jiang Su's concealed cultivation level; otherwise, the Azure Cloud Rankings would have broadcasted the news already.

As for the underlying reasons, Jiang Su had no interest in probing. He wasn't inclined to unravel such complexities. His only concern was resolving the issue without disrupting his routine check-ins.

Emotionally, Jiang Su had made significant strides; his wife was starting to view him favorably. Though she hadn't warmed up to him entirely, her attitude had improved considerably from before.

The reward from his wife was a testament to his clear stance and his control over Rong Yu.

The First Immortal Sect would never have anticipated their esteemed Head Disciple turning into a spy.

Jiang Su, with a contented smile, swiftly drifted off to sleep. Tomorrow, he would need to enlist Master Chiu Yue's help to tidy up the aftermath at the mountain's base.

In the left-side room, Wang Tian and Jiang Su had succumbed to slumber, while in the pitch-black room to the right, a youth clad in black nightwear crouched in the corner, his eyes clouded with an unshakable melancholy, motionless for hours on end.

The morning mist gently ascended from Sword Wing Peak, which lay in utter silence.

At the base of the mountain, all the Outer Sect disciples of the First Devil Sect had congregated. The scene could hardly be recognized as the mountain's base—it was now a heap of rubble, transformed overnight, nearly giving the patrolling disciples a fright.

"Could it be that the four elders achieved a breakthrough yesterday? Only they could endure such a massive Heavenly Tribulation."

"Elder Chiu Yue isn't here, and the other three don't seem to have made any progress."

"How peculiar."

Their chatter ceased at the sound of a soft cough.

The arrival of Elder Chiu Yue wiped the smiles from their faces.

Seeing him, they fell silent and bowed respectfully, "Greetings, Elder Chiu Yue."

"Elders of the Outer Sect, you've grown complacent of late. This time is ideal for cultivation. Yet here you are, idling away instead of practicing!"

Elder Chiu Yue's tone was stern.

Heads bowed, no one dared respond.

He had spent the previous evening in deep conversation with the Female Ruler, subsequently spending the night in the guest hall. The success of her plan and the seamless support from his astute disciple filled him with joy. To have such a disciple was indeed his good fortune.

He had even secured a few extra sword manuals from the Female Ruler, knowing Jiang Su would be overjoyed to receive them.

If Jiang Su were to hear of this, he would surely be moved to tears.
