Otherwise, Ye Fann couldn't have dispatched the shadow armors with such ease.

"How has Ye Fann, a mere student from Domesticated Beast High School, managed to train such a mediocre elf apprentice to this level?"

However, at that moment, a towering figure emerged from the shadows in the distance.

A massive blade was strapped to its waist, and its entire form was shrouded in the intimidating gleam of shadow armor.

"It's actually a Shadow Sword Demon!"

Shen Ruxue's face drained of color in shock.

Just moments before, she had been fretting over the possibility of encountering a formidable beast, and now, one had appeared before her very eyes.

"Get out of here quickly; this is beyond your ability to handle!"

With urgency in her voice, she dashed in front of Ye Fann and summoned her divine companion, the Red Lotus Phoenix.

The Shadow Sword Demon, a Class E Peak monster, posed a challenge even for a seasoned Beastmaster, much less for the two of them who hadn't even started at the academy.

Her only option was to have her Red Lotus Phoenix stall for time, allowing the less powerful Ye Fann to escape with the elf apprentice.

Ye Fann furrowed his brow, about to speak, when the system's synthesized voice echoed in his mind.

"Host has received a system mission: Slay a Shadow Sword Demon. Upon completion, you will be rewarded with 200 units of mutated energy."

A grin spread across Ye Fann's face as he turned to Shen Ruxue and declared:

"A monster of this caliber won't stop me. You go on ahead; I want to enjoy this battle."

Without waiting for her response, he charged at the towering beast before him.

Provoked by the challenge, the Shadow Sword Demon unsheathed its blade and launched a furious assault on Ye Fann.

Gale met the attack head-on, expression unchanging, sword in hand.

As they clashed, the ring of metal on metal filled the air.

Sparks flew, and a massive, ghastly wound split the Shadow Sword Demon's flesh.

Gale sustained only a facial scratch.

He was virtually unscathed!

"My God! How is that possible?"

Shen Ruxue, witnessing the scene, could scarcely believe her eyes.

He was merely an elf apprentice, the lowest rank in the manual, yet he had just dealt a crippling blow to a Class E Peak Shadow Sword Demon!

Before she could fully process the sight, they were locked in combat again, battling fiercely amidst the forest.

The continuous clash of metal resounded, and trees toppled under the force of their blades.

Several exchanges later, both had sustained numerous hits.

But thanks to the protective Wall of Wind, the Shadow Sword Demon's strikes did virtually no harm to Gale.

Empowered by Heartsword Wind, each of Gale's slashes inflicted devastating critical damage on the Shadow Sword Demon. Over time, the demon's weaknesses became increasingly apparent. Thirty seconds later, Gale seized an opening and charged at the Shadow Sword Demon. In a flash, he struck, and the demon's body tumbled to the ground. "Congratulations, host, on completing the mission. You have earned 200 units of mutated energy!"
