C17 Apologize

Hee Yue frantically sifted through her memories until a spark of recognition flickered in her eyes. She began to recite the content haltingly. However, as she approached the final few words, she came to an abrupt halt. Despite racking her brain, she couldn't recall the last few elusive words.

After waiting several minutes, Gao Mu observed Hee Yue's frustrated expression and took his turn. He recited the entire page flawlessly, without a single pause. The entirety of Class 6 watched in stunned silence, unable to replicate his feat.

"Do you concede?" Gao Mu inquired, looking at Hee Yue.

With a cold stare and clenched teeth, Hee Yue was at a loss for words.

"You've gone too far! Do you really want a girl to kneel and apologize to you?" one student challenged.

"Gao Mu, you're a man. Men should be chivalrous toward women! Haven't you heard?" another added.

"What's this? Are you actually trying to start a revolt?" a third accused.

Gao Mu realized just how despicable these people were.

"What's the matter? Are you volunteering to kneel and apologize on her behalf?" Gao Mu retorted with a frosty gaze.

"Give her a break," Liu Guowei murmured to Gao Mu.

Gao Mu glanced at Liu Guowei, a sly smile on his lips as he whispered back, "Do you think sparing her now will ensure I have peaceful days ahead? If that's not the case, why should I let her off?"

His voice was soft, but in the hushed atmosphere of Class 6, it might as well have been a shout. He wasn't just addressing Liu Guowei; he was making his stance clear to everyone present.

Hee Yue's expression darkened. She never imagined that someone she had once so thoroughly dismissed could show such remarkable improvement.

"Did you do that deliberately?" Hee Yue confronted Gao Mu with a surge of anger.

Gao Mu gave her a nonchalant look. "You truly don't recognize your own flaws. Why would I do it deliberately? I simply discovered that I possess this skill."

The classroom descended into silence once more.

Meanwhile, a few boys who either fancied Hee Yue or aspired to win her over covertly passed notes among themselves.

"After class, follow him to the restroom. We've got to teach him a lesson!"

"I'm really angry."

"Today, I'm definitely going to give him a piece of my mind!"

The appearance of Gao Mu led to the formation of a brief and unlikely alliance.

"You'd better save some opportunities for yourself!" Hee Yue approached Gao Mu and said.

Once she spoke, everyone understood that Hee Yue was conceding. For some, this was a rather diplomatic way to apologize.

Gao Mu, however, was not impressed. "I don't want to be known for picking on girls, but I'm not going to let this slide easily."

"There's no need to kneel. But surely a bow and an apology wouldn't hurt, right?"

Gao Mu realized that being too confrontational at this point could alienate the entire class.

He wasn't intimidated by the challenges from the students of Class 6; it was their parents he was wary of.

Tianhai No.1 High School was an extraordinary place. It was where nearly all the wealthy families of Tianhai sent their children.

If he pushed too hard, Gao Mu feared the repercussions might extend to his own parents.
