C4 I Am a Rich Second Generation

As Su Lang and Lin Xiaoxiao walked away, everyone was left speechless.

The turn of events had been so swift, it nearly surpassed their comprehension.

They had always assumed Su Lang's claim of owning ten shops was mere boastfulness.

Yet, the harsh truth had struck them like a slap in the face.

Su Lang wasn't bluffing; his claim was genuine.

He truly owned ten shops.

"Hao, what's going on?" Yang Zhichao asked, visibly upset.

Zhou Hao was at a loss for words.

He felt utterly bewildered. Despite having shared a dorm with Su Lang in college and having his Second Aunt as Su Lang's neighbor, he was clueless about Su Lang owning ten shops.

In his mind, Su Lang had always been penniless and powerless.

"Class monitor, don't you find this situation odd?"

Zhou Hao broke the silence, speaking slowly.

"What?"

"It's too coincidental," Zhou Hao said gravely. "Could it be that Su Lang staged this whole scenario?"

Without Zhou Hao's suggestion, Yang Zhichao wouldn't have suspected anything.

But now, the idea seemed plausible to him.

If Su Lang had a deed, why hadn't he shown it sooner?

If Su Lang was a millionaire, why would he be riding an electric scooter?

"Hao, call your Second Aunt right away and find out the real story behind Su Lang," Yang Zhichao instructed with urgency.

"Alright."

Zhou Hao immediately called his Second Aunt.

"Hao, what brings you to call me today?"

"Second Aunt, I need to ask you something," Zhou Hao said.

"What is it?"

"What does Su Lang's family actually do?"

Su Lang?

His Second Aunt paused, a bit taken aback. She knew Su Lang well; he was the kid from next door.

Why was Zhou Hao suddenly inquiring about Su Lang?

"Hao, why are you asking about their family?"

"He claimed he owns ten shops in the city center!"

"They don't have ten shops. They live just above me, and I'm familiar with their circumstances."

"They don't own any shops?"

"They're just an ordinary family."

"Okay, thanks, Second Aunt."

"Hold on, don't hang up yet. Did you ever ask about the shop for your Second Uncle?"

His Second Uncle ran a clothing business and had always been into wholesale. Now, they were looking to rent a space in the city center.

"Second Aunt, finding a storefront in the city center is really tough."

"You've got plenty of friends. Ask them to brainstorm some solutions for you. I've got to run, so I'm hanging up now."

Zhou Hao was left speechless.

City center shops were in high demand, and despite being a college student, he knew that didn't make him a miracle worker.

"How did it go?"

Yang Zhichao approached just as Zhou Hao ended the call.

"Class monitor, my Second Aunt confirmed that Su Lang's family doesn't own any shops."

"So, Su Lang was just putting on an act?"

"Exactly!"

Yang Zhichao exhaled deeply, a slight smile on his face. He gave Zhou Hao a reassuring pat on the shoulder and whispered, "Hao, could you find out which agency Su Lang is with?"

"What are you planning to do, Class Rep?"

"I'm going to teach Su Lang the cost of boasting!"

"Hao, did your Second Aunt ask you to find a shop for her?"

"Yes."

"Well, my company is right in the city center. I'll make some inquiries when I get a chance."

"Thanks, class monitor."

Since Su Lang had been drinking, it was only natural for him to take the passenger seat on the electric scooter.

Lin Xiaoxiao assumed the role of driver.

Their appearance prompted gasps of surprise from onlookers.

"I'm starting to believe in love again."

"How come I've never met such a thoughtful girl?"

Hearing the surrounding gasps, Su Lang couldn't help but wear a smug grin.

Although there was nothing romantic between him and Lin Xiaoxiao, he was thrilled by the comments.

"Did you call me over just to play chauffeur?"

It was then that Lin Xiaoxiao spoke up.

Su Lang looked at her, puzzled.

Did he ever entertain such a notion?

He certainly hadn't in the past.

But now, perhaps he could.

"If I told you that wasn't my intention, would you believe me?" Su Lang pondered for a moment before speaking earnestly.

Lin Xiaoxiao laughed.

What did her laughter imply?

Did she not believe him?

"Su Lang, do you remember the downpour back in our senior year of college?" Lin Xiaoxiao broached the subject without giving Su Lang a chance to defend himself.

The downpour?

That jogged a memory for Su Lang.

It seemed Lin Xiaoxiao had once borrowed an umbrella from him.

"Yes."

"You borrowed an umbrella from me back then, and you still haven't returned it."

Lin Xiaoxiao was at a loss for words.

If she could, Lin Xiaoxiao would love to sew Su Lang's mouth shut!

Taking a deep breath, Lin Xiaoxiao revealed, "There was a love letter inside the umbrella."

Su Lang looked perplexed.

A love letter? He had no recollection of such a thing.

"That love letter wasn't written by me!" Su Lang quickly retorted.

A flicker of surprise crossed Lin Xiaoxiao's eyes. She had expected Su Lang to panic.

Yet, she was taken aback by his composed demeanor.

"Then who wrote the love letter?"

Su Lang found himself at a loss. Without Lin Xiaoxiao mentioning it, he wouldn't have even been aware of the love letter, let alone know the author.

"Ms. Lin, you were quite insistent about me joining the WeChat group. Surely it wasn't just for this, was it?" Su Lang asked, his eyes narrowing into a playful smile.

Lin Xiaoxiao smiled back and inquired, "Su Lang, was it you who orchestrated Gu Yaodong's sudden appearance today?"

Su Lang paused, then quickly grasped Lin Xiaoxiao's implication.

She must suspect that the entire scenario was a setup, a play orchestrated by him in cahoots with Gu Yaodong.

"Ms. Lin, are you suggesting that even my property deed is a fake?" Su Lang shrugged nonchalantly, a wry smile on his face.

"Isn't the reality exactly as I've described?"

"Not at all." Su Lang's lips quirked up, revealing a subtle smile. "You might find this hard to believe, but I've always been the son of a wealthy man."

"I just prefer to keep it under wraps."

Lin Xiaoxiao's lips twitched involuntarily.

She and Su Lang were college classmates, and she had never pegged him as a rich man's son.

Could it be that Su Lang, like the protagonists in so many stories, had suddenly reclaimed his place in a wealthy family?

She found the idea implausible.

Lin Xiaoxiao gave Su Lang a meaningful look and cautioned, "Su Lang, just a heads-up: Yang Zhichao is not known for his generosity of spirit."

"After the way you embarrassed him today, he won't let this slide. You'd better be ready for what's coming."

Su Lang gave a slight nod.

"Are you even paying attention to what I'm saying?"

"I'm listening," he assured her.

Lin Xiaoxiao pressed, "Don't you have anything to say?"

"I've told you before, I'm the son of a wealthy man. Yang Zhichao means nothing to me."

At a loss for words, Lin Xiaoxiao fell silent.

Well, she had learned one thing for certain: Su Lang was obsessed with playing it cool.
