There were three of them, all masters of Hong Fist, but they were all defeated by me. I killed the leader on the spot."

Lin Dong recounted the previous night's events with a detached tone.

His face remained expressionless, the initial shock and discomfort having settled since the night before.

However, Hsu Ziyan's eyes widened in disbelief as she absorbed his words.

She had not anticipated that Lin Dong would face an assassination attempt just the night before!

Lin Dong came to a halt right beside Hsu Ziyan, close enough for them to be face to face. From this proximity, the subtle signs of distress in Hsu Ziyan's bright eyes were unmistakable.

"Have your men leave," Lin Dong instructed, looking directly at her.

A flicker of concern crossed Hsu Ziyan's eyes, and her fingers tensed, but she quickly regained her composure. With a slight tilt of her head toward the three fallen men, she commanded, "Leave us and tend to your wounds."

"But Miss Xu, what about you...?" one of her subordinates began, his voice laced with concern.

"There are matters I need to discuss with Mr. Lin. Don't concern yourselves," Hsu Ziyan cut him off firmly.

With a nod of understanding, the subordinate clenched his teeth and, along with another, helped the restaurant owner out of the room.

Now, the room held only Lin Dong and Hsu Ziyan. They stood in close proximity, the sound of Hsu Ziyan's breathing clearly audible in the quiet space.
