C237 When He Returned to School He Was Bullied by a Beauty
"Young man, we've arrived at Jiangyang University City. That'll be forty-two dollars."
The taxi driver addressed Lin Dong, who was seated in the back.
"Right, thank you. I've already paid."
Lin Dong exited the vehicle.
Hands in his pockets, he strolled leisurely down the street.
He had left the hotel that morning to head to school.
He hadn't brought along his Pagani Huayra; it was too ostentatious. Besides, he already had a Rolls Royce Cullinan at the school, and one person certainly couldn't drive two cars.
Moreover, he wanted to take the time to clear his head.
The streets were bustling with morning pedestrians.
Watching the crowd, Lin Dong found it a good opportunity to engage his thoughts and keep his observational skills sharp, avoiding the trap of becoming socially awkward from lack of interaction.
"Hey, pretty girl, don't leave. Come play with us, big brother!"
A sleazy voice suddenly cut through the air.
A frantic female voice responded, "Ah, what are you doing? Get away from me, I don't know you!"
"Why leave? Meeting here must be destiny. Come on, let's chat, hehehe!"
The sleazy voice persisted.
A girl's scream followed.
Lin Dong looked up to see a girl in a dress being cornered by three thugs in garish shirts.
One thug, with notably large nostrils, was getting handsy with her.
The girl was backed up to the curb, her eyes filled with urgency and fear.
Bystanders passed by, noticing the girl surrounded but too intimidated to speak up.
Yet, they lingered, watching the scene unfold with a mix of curiosity and concern.
The beauty harassed by ruffians—a tired trope playing out in reality, but not everyone has the courage to intervene.
The trio of thugs looked menacing, and getting tangled up with them would likely be trouble.
Most preferred to avoid getting involved, remaining passive observers.
Lin Dong's brow furrowed.
Without overthinking, he commanded, "Stop!"
He stepped forward and approached the group.
The three thugs, just as they were about to further harass the girl, turned to face him.
When Lin Dong, slight in stature, approached, the gang leader fixed him with a malevolent glare and sneered, "Hey kid, what's your deal? Trying to stick your nose where it doesn't belong? You're asking for trouble!"
His voice dripped with menace.
The other two thugs wore equally savage expressions as they turned their attention to Lin Dong.
Unfazed by their threatening stares, Lin Dong remained cool and composed. Hands in his pockets, he faced the thugs and said flatly, "I've got nothing to say to you. Beat it."
"What did you just say?"
The head thug's eyes bulged in disbelief.
He hadn't expected Lin Dong to stand his ground.
Bystanders on the street had overheard Lin Dong's bold words.
They murmured among themselves, pointing at Lin Dong.
"That young man's got guts!"
"But those are thugs, and they look tough. He's bound to get knocked down!"
"It's admirable to see such fiery spirit in the youth, but biting off more than one can chew will surely lead to trouble!"
"The kid's in for it now!"
...
Despite their disdain for the trio harassing a beautiful woman, nobody wanted to draw the gang's ire.
Lin Dong had spoken up to distract the thugs and rescue the lady, but now he had landed himself in hot water. It looked like he wouldn't get off easy!
Many onlookers watched Lin Dong with a sense of malicious glee, anticipating the beating they assumed was coming.
It's in human nature to find entertainment in the misfortune of others.
They were all eager to see how Lin Dong would handle the situation now!
The girl who had been the target of the gangsters' bullying watched Lin Dong with concern.
So many had witnessed her ordeal in silence, but Lin Dong had been the only one to intervene. Now, as he faced trouble, she was deeply worried.
Yet, she felt powerless to help; she was just a frail girl.
All she could do was watch Lin Dong anxiously, hoping against hope that he would come out unscathed.
