C285 Qian Daloong Shouted and Knelt down Lin Dong Slapped Him on the Face
"Just as I thought," Lin Dong mused silently, a smirk playing on his lips.
He had predicted correctly; Qian Daloong had laid a trap, biding his time until Lin Dong arrived. Then, he made his grand entrance, ready to spring the trap and flex his muscles. Lin Dong surmised that Qian Daloong's next move would be to try and put him in his place, expecting him to fall in line obediently. But things weren't going to go the way Qian Daloong had hoped.
Qian Daloong was the picture of arrogance at that moment. Clad in a designer shirt, his hair slick with gel, he strode forward with a haughty glint in his eye, as if he held all the cards. The boy who had escorted Lin Dong was right behind him, along with several others Lin Dong recognized from school. The rest of the group were clearly thugs from the streets, some brandishing iron rods or steel pipes. They dragged their weapons along the walls as they walked, the grating noise creating an atmosphere of intimidation.
But Lin Dong remained unfazed, observing them with a detached gaze, his expression unchanging.
Qian Daloong, leading the pack, let out a deranged laugh. "Lin Dong, you're such an idiot. How could you not see through such an obvious scheme? I thought you were someone formidable, yet here you are, showing up alone. Did you seriously think I'd apologize to you? Are you out of your mind?"
His eyes gleamed with scorn as he spoke, clearly viewing Lin Dong's solo arrival as foolish and senseless.
The boys behind him joined in the mockery.
"Brother Long's got it right!"
"It's all thanks to Brother Long's masterful planning that we lured this sucker into our trap!"
"With so many of us here today, we could take turns hammering him and leave him crippled for life, confined to a bed!"
Their laughter echoed as Qian Daloong stood at the forefront, glancing over at Lin Dong. Yet, he saw Lin Dong standing his ground, hands casually in his pockets, his face betraying not a hint of concern.
A smile played at the corner of Lin Dong's mouth.
He wasn't the picture of panic Qian Daloong had expected, like a mouse ensnared in a trap.
On the contrary, he seemed as composed as a hunter observing his prey caught in a snare.
Qian Daloong's face tensed for a moment at Lin Dong's demeanor, but he quickly dismissed any unease from his thoughts.
He had paid a hefty sum for these local thugs, who were reputed to be untouchable in the area around Jiangyang University.
Lin Dong was outnumbered.
Against these street-hardened gangsters, he stood no chance!
Qian Daloong was convinced Lin Dong was just putting on an act!
Surely, Lin Dong was terrified inside... Yes! That had to be it!
Once Qian Daloong settled on this notion, he lifted his chin arrogantly.
He addressed Lin Dong, "Don't say I didn't give you a chance. Kneel down, kowtow to me, and promise you'll never see Jiang Keke again! I'll break one of your arms, and we'll call it even for all the times you've been insolent in my presence!"
His tone was condescending, as if breaking Lin Dong's arm was an act of benevolence.
Following Qian Daloong's declaration, the boys behind him echoed with boisterous shouts.
"Kneel down and kowtow to Brother Long!"
"Brother Long's mercy is a windfall for you, kid!"
"Kneel down quick, or we'll break your legs too!"
...
Each of the boys spoke with more ferocity than the last, their eyes wild with the threat of imminent violence.
But then, Lin Dong, who stood opposite them, took a few steps forward, closing the distance to Qian Daloong.
A flicker of triumph crossed Qian Daloong's face, thinking Lin Dong had been intimidated into submission.
However, as this thought settled, Lin Dong raised his arm and swung it with force, delivering a resounding slap to Qian Daloong's cheek.
"Smack!"
The sound of a sharp slap echoed through the air.
Qian Daloong reeled from the impact, his body twisting as he crashed heavily to the ground.
In that instant, a hushed silence fell over the entire room.
