C33 Everyone Came to Buy a Phone
The security guard's post on social media garnered a slew of likes!
His friends were green with envy, leaving comments of astonishment, and some even asked for an introduction to the security guard's friend.
The flashy sports car, along with the security guard's cleverly crafted caption, gave him a moment of glory in the virtual Versailles, feeding his ego immensely.
Lin Dong, however, paid no mind to the security guard's antics.
He strolled through the mobile phone district, a hub for all brands of smartphones.
iPhones, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, and more - a veritable feast for the eyes!
Lin Dong wouldn't have considered shopping here in the past.
Brick-and-mortar stores charged a premium.
Online shopping was far more economical, saving nearly a week's worth of groceries!
But now, with a fortune well over a hundred million, Lin Dong was indifferent to the price tags.
He entered an Apple store, buzzing with people eager to check out the latest iPhone release. Many Apple enthusiasts were there to snag the newest model.
Naturally, the latest model wasn't cheap, retailing for several thousand dollars - a price point out of reach for the average consumer.
Most visitors were there to preview the phones in person before finding better deals online.
Yet, a few, with the means to do so, made their purchases on the spot.
Among the crowd, a young couple stood out.
They were dressed to the nines - the woman with her long hair flowing, donned in an elegant cream dress, her makeup striking.
The man sported a stylish haircut and exuded wealth, his wrist adorned with a Rolex Submariner.
Upon entering, Lin Dong overheard the man boast loudly, "Sweetheart, pick any phone you like! If it pleases you, I, Yan Guanglee, will buy it!"
The woman responded with a demure and coquettish air, "Oh, darling! You're the best!"
His partner's soft words inflated his pride even further.
He called out, "Salesperson, bring out your most expensive phone for my treasure!" as if to ensure everyone knew of his affluence.
As Lin Dong's words resonated through the store, the other patrons turned their gazes toward him. Among them, couples stood out, with the women eyeing the lady with envy. Their own boyfriends couldn't afford such an expensive gift.
The glamorously made-up girl with the man beamed with happiness as she nestled into his embrace, her face radiating pride. She reveled in the admiration of others.
Lin Dong furrowed his brow in disapproval. He found such behavior distasteful and promptly made his way to a different display.
Approaching the counter, he glanced at the showcase and pointed to the latest model of the Love Madness phone, saying, "Hello, I'd like to get one of those black phones, a new one, please."
He had a preference for black. The color was understated and simple, not ostentatious, yet it carried a sense of substance.
Behind the counter, a clerk with her hair in a ponytail caught sight of Lin Dong and looked slightly taken aback. His ordinary attire belied his handsome features, and he didn't seem like the type who could splurge on such a pricey phone.
Nevertheless, guided by professionalism, the clerk retrieved the phone Lin Dong had pointed out and handed it to him, still in its unopened box.
Lin Dong promptly unwrapped the package, briefly inspected the device inside, and said, "Great, I'll pay with WeChat."
The clerk paused, momentarily surprised, before gently reminding him, "Are you sure you want to purchase it outright? Sir, this is a top-of-the-line model with 245GB of memory. It's quite expensive, at $9,400."
She might have assumed Lin Dong was like most customers who only previewed the physical phone in-store before seeking a better deal online, or perhaps just window shopping.
"Yep, I'll take it," Lin Dong confirmed.
With a smile, the female clerk fetched the payment terminal. Meanwhile, Lin Dong retrieved his old phone, intending to transfer the SIM card to the new device since he couldn't make the payment with his broken phone.
Just then, a sneering voice echoed from nearby, "What's with everyone buying phones today? How can someone with such an outdated phone possibly afford a Love Madness?"
